  1. I'm willing all my gear to audio friends. My kids show no interest in this hobby so they don't get it when I'm gone. Spend it now people or your kids will squander it away when they put your arse in a home.

The way my schedule has been the last few weeks with my Dad hospital stay and return home I bet I just forgot to hit save when I added it at least I hope. I'll add them again now ! Craig ---------------- Craig need some help with the page?
  3. For Home use I like the 416-8C (personally late model ceramics have better sonics than older alnico), a 511B horn and 802-8G driver (tangerine phase plug). Flip the cabinet upside down and mount the horn inside the bass port. This was an option for the 825 cabinet ala A7-500W. Check with Mr. Sumner at: L & M TRADING Butler, Pennsylvania sumnermc@earthlink.net or THE definitive answer man Bill Hanuschak at http://www.greatplainsaudio.com/
  4. Right with ya on the vinyl BB - Rega P3 using a RB250 arm fitted with a RB300 stainless stub and weight and an Audio Note IQ-2 cart. Nothing like vinyl with tubes and horns.
  5. I find there is no one perfect system that does it all well. Given that, you build a system for a specific purpose. Tom has put together a fantatic system for his love of classical music. This system is not for everyone or is it intended to be, but for jass, classical, vocals this system is sweet. The imaging and details are crisp and fast. The bass while not chest shaking is tight and what I equate to the sound of a 300 year old acoustic upright bass in contrast to a new electric bass. The combination of vinyl played through a pair of 2A3 SET amps is magical. I own a pair of these Bottlehead Paramours, along with some custom 2A3's and yes some mega power and current solid state amps too. I like it all from 6 watts (my living room) to 2000 watts (my den). I run everything from Martin Logan electrostats to Altec horns and even some DIY speakers. There are many roads to music bliss, so you don't have to travel someone else's to get to your destination.

  8. Wow I'm jealous. I want a new table saw so bad, just can't bring myself to part with audio money to buy it. Anyway, so do you have a good shop vac you can hook up to that puppy? Oh yea, and the first thing you should build is a slider table for it. Comes in real handy when making speaker boxes, audio cabinets and other things not audio related. Enjoy
  9. Very nice rig you have there. Those SVS have got to rock your world sitting in the corners like that.

  11. Wardsweb.org Just click on a catagory and then navagate from the bar on the left hand side. The Paramour site is not live yet. Still need about a week to get all the documentation done.
  12. It's a fair amount of work but most any metal can be polished to a mirror shine. All the polished pieces you see were supplied in the standard kit. They have been treated with a combination of sanding up to 1000 grit, machine polished with white tripoli and/or hand polished with Happich Simichrome metal polish.
  13. ---------------- On 1/19/2004 11:15:42 AM 3dzapper wrote: Beautiful work Ward! Did you send all the metal out to be chromed? Or use another process? Rick ---------------- Again wanting to stay close to stock, I used the aluminum chassis supplied in the kit. It has been sanded and polished, that's all.
  14. These were purpose built so I could fully document the build process as almost a stock unit. That way, other Bottlehead's would benefit from the site I'm putting up that details step by step the entire build. I also wanted to compare a stock unit against my custom 2A3's. Mods are coming for the Paramours but only after some stock break in,listening and comparisons.
  15. I just had to show you my Bottlehead Paramours. Slightly modified and with lot's of attention to detail. This picture was taken at the Lone Star Bottlehead meet held in Terrell Texas on Jan 17th.
  16. I finished building these Bottlehead 2A3's yesterday.
  17. Having built both kit and one off custom 2A3, I can say there is no correct answer. The Paramours are marketed as a entry level and low price. These benefit from better iron and caps but are not bad in their stock form. These I build as mirror images and with a lot of polishing. So you can even tweak the standard kit for little or no extra money. You can easily double the money spent for better units. I have at least that in these custom 2A3 I did. These actually use the MQ TFA-204 output iron under those polished aluminum covers.
  18. You can email him via audiokarma.org by going to the members section and clicking on his name. This will take you to his info page that has an email link.
  19. check out yamaha.com they have a great comparison chart for all their models, so you can see power and options at a glance. also has MSRP that gives you a gauge for cost. figure couple hundred off MSRP for street cost or do a search online for sellers. even ebay has'em
  20. You would not want to get the wood wet. This would raise the grain and create more sanding for you after the wood dried. You can see some things I've done here: My Refinishing Page
  21. Mechanical ocillation in the power transformer can also be caused by DC on the line. If you have a two prong power cord, try turning it over in the receptical to reverse the polarity.
  22. Run a separate amp pushing one or two of these bass horns - trust me on this one, you will have to turn the bass down. They measure 4'x4'x22" and hold a single 18 driver.
  23. Ask over at the McIntosh Forum on Audiokarma.org McIntosh Audio Forum
  24. What you're seeing here are: front row - the posts off the transformer (split posts thru ceramic isolators) and the back rows - the post with the connectors attached, but without the wires.
  25. Very nicely done. I like the way it blends with your LaScala's.
