  1. Anyone that verifies a properly working amp and gives it the "okey dokey" is golden with me. And then to display atop a JBL studio monitor? Gotta be an upstanding individual. Now while the packaging rate seems a bit on the high side as Iunderstand it Eth, you are a lawyer? So with an hour or so of proper packaging labor I'd say your estimate of $875 to be a reasonable rate.
  2. Learning here is good as I wasn't aware Mc amps used Class A designs but were class AB or more commonly class B in their solid state amps. And if you favor Class A for their hum/distortion ratings why not just use actual Class A heaters? Aside from their excessive heat output and anti-green power consumption Class A solid state are some of the finest sound machine out there. And lets differentiate Pure Class A vs. pseudo Class A where the amp runs claas A for --- watts then slides to AB. Class A genius Nelson Pass designs all forms of pure A class amps, single ended, push pull, etc. The simple signal amplification of pure Class A soild state and single ended Class A tubes both provide a similar sound front due to their inherent circuit design. As I type I am listening to Justin Webers (amspandsound) massaged Pass amp camp single ended Class A monos with regulated power supplies rated at 6 watts thru Jubilees. Amazingly fulfilling.
  3. But of course, why would I think differently!? I'm sure you only saw that big, voluptuous, succulent, over flowing with goodies pizza anyway, Right??!
  4. For the past few years have been working from a roll of Belden Brilliance 1311a stranded copper 12 gauge. Prior to buying this quantity I did my due diligence and found Belden actually engineered the 13--- series for quality playback environs. Seems to sound nice through several rigs it has powered. On the other hand and as I have written above it didn't fare so well when used as crossover wire in the Jubilees. Maybe its me? Don't know but I do know it sounded different, maybe Too much of a good thing compared to the very thin, single strand copper I originally had connected and is now back in place again.
  5. Chris, in the two weeks I've owned the Jubes (factory Jubes, Crites passive, Faital HP200) I have run thru a variety of amps in order to find a pecking order if you will. At this point and with yet another late entry to the rotation I would rank the best sound from Wright 2a3 monos/Wright preamp. This is all tube, tube rectified throughout, DHT. Have run this combo at on the 8 ohm tap. Amazing drive, surprisingly good and deep bass, sparkling non fatiguing highs. Next probably a Dennis Had (Cary) KT66 SE integrated, tube rectified, 8 ohm only. Probably the most balanced, smoothest of all. One of the quietest tube amps I have ever owned, graveyard quiet. The latest entry are the Justin Weber massaged Nelson Pass Amp Camp Class A single ended solid state monoblocks with regulated power supplies giving 6 watts. No stories from Justin on these, very single ended tube like as promised. And deadly, stick your head in the horn quiet. Even more so with a Pass First Watt B1 buffered preamp. Played with the Wright tube pre was almost too much of everything, possibly too much gain which I can adjust to lower levels next time out. These are real close to the Wright 2a3 but there something about that 2a3 that's tough to beat. A quick mention to a Peter Daniel integrated 3875 chip amp. Hard to beat for 24/7 leave on convenience and damn good overall sound. Sometimes a bit flat with less top end single ended tube sparkle but solid bass and drive. I originally wired the crossover/drivers with very thin twisted single stranded copper wire I have used as Both IC and speaker wire in the past. No worries sounded great but this was the first set up. And the copper was direct to terminal, no solder or connections. For a more professional look I used my Belden Brilliance 14 gauge stranded speaker wire crimped to RatShack terminal spades. Looked great, sound changed. Too much of everything, particularly pronounced mid bass. Removed, back to single strand, smoothness returned. Thats it in a nutshell but all in all the Jubes sound great with all amps but certainly present differently, not a bad thing. I may try the 4 ohm taps on the Wrights next time? Good idea? Faitals are 16 ohm. Thanks Chris
  6. Very close to year I bought my first, new pair of LS. If memory serves I believe, I think I paid around $1400/pair? Long time ago and as I said in another thread, I'm getting old(er). A fair amount of Green in'78.
  7. So Chris to my comment on Jubes being ruthless to downstream components rather they be cables, preamps, etc. What is your thinking on this?
  8. ^^^^^ Thats true. For those folks $4K interconnects are bottom feeders.
  9. Huh? My response was to the "can of worms" about hearing a difference in cable wire. Trust me Chris I've asked you too many technical questions with respect to your knowledge to offer up a pissin' contest with you.
  10. ^^^^^ i would imagine it takes someone with the proverbial "needle dickk"? No insinuation intended -----!!?
  11. We can at least take solace that the Klipsch Forum Detective Agency brought this would be mastermind to justice.
  12. ^^^^^ A no win discussion for sure. With that in mind I know what I heard and hear. And I'm not talking about using snake oil wire that sells for $500/mtr. But once in a while hearing is believing.
  13. Can't remember each and every one, I'm getting on in years! But right you are and to think I just took delivery of one of Justin's creations yesterday. Like I said, I'm old.
  14. Lawyer man is right. Two weeks in on my Jubes and have never owned a speaker that can change character dependent on upstream components than these. These are ruthless when fed inferior signals or put another way they will reveal the sonics of such input, some of which you may not favor. I know many scoff at the thought that wire can effect sound but I'm telling you I went from one hook up wire that ran crossovers to bass bin to horn driver then switched to another set and Knew something was different, something I didn't like. The sound was more fatiguing, more forward, mid bass was too too. Went back to the original set and the magic was back. This was not psychological, I know what I heard. Give 'me some time and ground yourself with sonics you can relate to, and like before you switch things up.
  15. But tell me you can see Mark aboard a pair of MCM 's strapped together, row in one hand rifle in the other, pushing his way down stream shaking his rifle and yelling "Git" to any one close. Right!? Yeah, Hope should be Fun this year ---
  16. Of course it happens - have you never had to replace a light bulb? Apple and oranges, yes, but still ---
  17. ^^^^^ From the stories I heard he loaded up the family, pets, mechanical men (no neighbors) and floated away on the MCM's under the dark of night. Nice life rafts they are! Them woofers provide quite the push -----
  18. That's right BSM - the media is all about that Fake News, even the weather! But even as Dtel says its gonna end, there ain't nothing fake about the weather we had this month. AND I 'M LOVIN' IT !!!!
  19. ^^^^^ One has to admire a man with aspirations - no matter how low they may be. Follow your dreams tiger ---
  20. February is shaping up to be the driest winter month in KC since the late 1800's. And the way it's looking the first Feb. ever with no snow. Last few days have been upper 60's - mid 70's. 76 today with mid 70's thru next Thursday. For KC this is my kind of winter. And we are in a fire warning alert with fairly strong winds. Near daily reports of grass fires along hiways. We always have a day here and there with a warm spell but not 10-12 days in a row. I've got the friggin' windows open - in FEBRUARY.
  21. ^^^^^ Not for you at all, Sir. A generalized comment at best. It just seems many times this "fun" and "learning" experience gets bogged down with countless opinions on how others buy, sell, describe and stick noses in when it just isn't called for. Now go on, flip another record ---
  22. ^^^^^ Well, we know what keeps you two busy. Salt anyone ? 'Bo, you bringing your ""salt"" with you to Hope??
  23. You people with your crazy wood skills. Everything looks fantastic from the KHorns, false walls and log home. And once again and will keep repeating whenever I see these great projects I can't cut a 2x4 straight with a chop saw. Or table saw. Or radial arm saw. Handsaws are verboten!!!
  24. That wall color looks exactly like what we have at home, nice. Good looking Corns, too. Now do yourself a favor and don't announce the SN of your CW ll's unless you want to wade through three or four pages of members arguing what version of CW you Really have! Just enjoy the damn things !!
