  1. Just because I have only 700 posts does not mean I haven't been around this place as much as that number might show. Owned LaScallas since 1976, new from factory, and every other Heritage model, some more than once. Owned VRD's, twice; owned JM BB, Peach and Merlin which to me was best of the bunch. So I will refer to my original statement - Really?
  2. Have you looked at the recommendations for the VRD's?
  3. I have seen comments like this really find the ire of forum members but when talking about Klipsch speakers, particularly Heritage, why is it the only " worthy " components are from NOS and JM? Really?
  4. For me and I guess I was redundant is government = probate. Probate courts are of the government. And the surviving family problems will stem from probate decisions caused by inadequate after life preparations.
  5. One would think with his management and legal team(s) someone would have not only the foresight but the common sense to have such a vital part of his estate legally bound. Ironically our attorney phoned today for us to pick up our recently amended will/trust documents. We are not of Princes' means. And an FYI for those who think a legal will is the means to keep your estate from probate that is a mistake. Team that with a family trust for peace of mind against government/probate intrusion.
  6. That International is killer, very cool. You certainly have an eclectic taste in vehicles. The F100 is damn nice too. Thanks for the pics.
  7. It's not always the big names or high horsepower amps that dictate your satisfaction with an amp or any component for that matter. Have no guilt in that respect. I've owned VRD's - twice. Yep they are good amps and very much liked on the Forum. But no matter what you paid for or how much power they provide does not mean they will be your "nirvana". For me, in my room, with my particular KHorns I much favor either my 5 watt EL84 single ended or the 3.5 watt Wright Sound 2a3 single ended monoblocks. Has nothing to do with the perceived quality or investment of your new VRD's its all going to come down to how and what YOU hear, not what what the Forum tells you what you should hear. Just because you buy then sell a piece doesn't denigrate the virtues of said piece it just says that particular component wasn't your cup of tea. Either ya like it or you don't - it's your rig and your $$$ - making it your decision. Good luck -
  8. I admire the cinder block stands, my kind of guy. I did the same for some rather large solid state monoblocks. But really, what self respecting audiophile would use Home Depot Lowes stands? And not spend at least what the value of the equipment that's sits on them is worth?! Oh, the shame of it! Good luck -
  9. Jim McShane has a great reputation and is The authority for HK Citation rebuilds. I have bought several tubes from Jim with good results. Another highly regarded seller with a good choice of NOS is Brent Jessee Recording.

    Guitar envy

What is it - Fender F150 - built Ford tough. Aluminum body I presume?
  11. I know how A1 feels and I believe, thinks. Now that he has seen this flaw that's the first thing he will be drawn to. Even before how good they may sound. If they sound good enough to keep new perfect plates may need to be ordered . If the jury is out on the sound the cosmetic issue puts them on the market. I know I'm the same way. I have been perfectly happy with vehicles that I thought were "perfect" only to find or cause a flaw and couldn't get past it. Sold 'em. Anal - yep. To a fault.
  12. You mean like I tell my wife - " I heard you but I wasn't listening". I use it too often I'm afraid.
  13. Dtels wife comment on those that constantly complain yet continue to hang around sound very much like where I worked for many years. Bitche and moan about pay, policy, benefits you name it but never having the skills or ballz to look for another job. Much easier to complain than hike up your pants and look for change elsewhere. Chickenshitss basically.
  14. I know this - if I had to listen to music with these two dip shitts I would slit my throat. Fran had no clue, none. Fran, what did you think of the performance, "I was much more immersed in the music. It had much better clarity, quieter. It was just like a live performance". Good Lord, if only I had some beach front property in Arizona, I would pursue these two idiots first. Fran, what do you think of your new property, "well it's just like being on a beach with the sand and all. It seems I'm surrounded by water even though its 113 degrees. Oh, those are my beach front sprinklers. It's just so much more beachier". Holy shitt.
  15. OR - new design Palladium ll's and a cosmetic change to the originals, raw Baltic Birch, black and slot them as Palladium Haeritage? Bait the hook for the diehard Heritage buyer. Just bein' silly.
  16. Chasing the "dot" theory I scurried down to the grocery store for some ice cream Dippin Dots. Talkin' about bringing the KHorns to a whole new level. Scooping a mouthful of dots was, well, the height of KHorn nirvana. Which slowly slipped away as they melted then back to crappy, ordinary KHorns. It's Dippin Dots or nothing in my listening room. Talk about brain freeze!
  17. You must have been disappointed to find your "office" had such poor corners! Maybe settled for Belles or LaScalla?
  18. File that under "smokealiscious". Very inventive and probably tastes as good as the competition guys and their multi thousand $$$ rigs.

    What I Got Today!

The late George Wright Sound 2a3 3.5 monos/with English Sowter transformers. Bill Baker/Response Audio EL84 single ended with matching preamp. The natural baltic birch cases look great with my Birch Khorns. Of course the Wrights speak for themselves and sound really good. Not a power house by any means but not so intended, very sweet single ended. NOS RCA 2a3's on the way. The Response pieces have been kicked up a notch or two with NOS Telefunken in the EL84 and 12at7 positions with NOS Philllips rectifier and preamp with NOS French Cifte 12au7's. I think I will hold serve for a while. Thanks
  20. FWIW Kobe is dominating all things ESPN. Warriors are an afterthought. Of course Kobe dropping 60 is the motivation; had he scored 11 I doubt this much would have devoted to him. Speaking of ESPN am I the only one who has noticed the changes in their overall presentation? New sets, new intros, more women out front. I think ratings are down and they believe a freshening is needed.
  21. Ceptor - I owned an RC 51 a couple three years ago, Nickey Edition. Kind of like amps I've owned more bike than I care to list but owning a 'Busa, ZX14, R1, Ducati 998, etc. I found the Nickey the most intimidating. Like you said, built by Honda Racing to compete against the dominant V-twin Ducs, it dominated the Ducs with Hayden aboard. I owned for less than a couple years then let it go before I killed myself. That bike truly was a beast.
