  1. All right. Dave's off on a major trip out west, and needs to clear out his stereo stuff, plus home goods to make room for a major renovation and to fund his trip, which may include the purchase of a steam boat. Yes a steam boat. He's moving out his Klipsch speakers as one lot. He's asked me to oversee things so contact me with your bids. I'll let you know the running total. Wants the bids to cover all five speakers. Two Khorns, a LaScala and two Heresy 3's, all in brand new condition. Everything listed is but four years old that means the Khorns will have the last oxver prior to the recently released Khorns using tractix horns Let's give this 6 days and see where we are. His ebay listing expires in seven days. Despite Dave's post I am not taking a cut, and I'm not about to walk off with them for $1. I will however, take a ride on the steamboat. Shipping or pickup will be your responsibility. Not sure at this point if he has any of the boxes. Will let you know. Serious bidders and serious bids only.
  2. Did not know that Jeff. My HR Block software doesn't do it so I capitulated a short time ago and file through efile4.biz. Oh well, yet another online entity now has more info on me than I care to give out. Probably doesn't matter, my info has been hacked at least four times so far by regular companies I've dealt with.
  3. Yeah I've already got the forms Randy references above. I have given the sub his copy, but while I can find vague references online to filing by mail, I sure can't find out how to actually do it. Don't use an accountant so no joy going that route. Just Thebes and his Quicken software and his HR Block tax software and my lucky rabbit's foot. And no, HR Block software won't do it for me, and I'd have to hire one of their accountants for one of them to do it. I'm cheap. Need my money for buying records not paying those green lamp shade people.
  4. Gotta file one this year for a sub and can't seem to find any way to do it without going through a third party online vendor who then, of course, will steal all my private info, run a scam and flee to a tax-haven tropical paradise while leaving me holding the bag. I would think you could just mail it in, but damn if I can find out how. Tried signing up for online filing directly with IRS through their FIRE system and boy what a time sink mistake that was. So help a Thebes today. The deadline for filing is February 1.
  5. What do I collect? Other men's trophy wives.

    Bob Crites RIP

Sad news indeed. Great guy. He got tired of the storm and fury of the technical debates in 2 Channel and Technical, which were sometimes directed his way, and basically stopped posting here while still offering great products and excellent service. Good people all the way. He will be missed. My condolences to all of his family and friends.
  7. Do they need any original Klipsch literature on any specific models, or Paul pictures or anything like that our members could provide to do the book? One presumes they haven't kept copies of everything they have been up to over the decades.
  8. Corrected. Thanks for pointing it out.
  9. A bit beat up but still: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/ele/d/takoma-park-klipsch-forte-loudspeaker/7256282670.html
  10. Forgot. Here's a link to their website: https://oda.co/
  11. Interesting approach with this new company. You buy their speakers, add a subscription and they stream you live concerts only using in-house talent, who(m) are paid from the streaming revenue. Overall approach seems a bit too complicated for my tastes, and their speakers are just plain weird looking: In lieu of specs, since I couldn't find any, here's ODA's description of the speakers along with a pertinent Q&A: "Oda Speakers are built using techniques drawn from traditional crafts like bookbinding, light aircraft construction, and, of course, luthiery. They’re made of wood, glass, cotton, and steel: materials that are humble and human, not technological. Simply put: They're built like instruments, so they make instruments sound beautiful." Will the Oda Speakers replace my fancy stereo system? "Our speakers are designed to create a strong feeling of presence, and to render voice and instrument in a beautiful, textured, way. They are designed for the music we present but they may not have the same bass response or frequency range of more general-purpose stereo systems."
  12. So Dave, before you go I have a couple of questions. Is Mallette frenchie for mallet? Are you the guy selling the hot sauce? 🙂 Be well my friend, and never say never. (Moolah sent.)
  13. Sadly Ginger won the Covid contest. Had a friend, she opened a restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia. Opening night, her friend, you guessed it, was there to greet the patrons.

    Christmas Dinner

Very kind words guys. I'm excited about the wine. A customer moved and left almost two cases of various vintages and years behind. Get this. One of them dates back to 1958! Now granted, these were probably not stored properly and most will be no good. He told me he bought most of them because he liked the labels. A mixture of French and California reds mostly. I've shared out six bottles of various brands and flavors with two oenophile customers of mine, so it's time to pop one open and see what I can see. It's like opening a sealed album from back in the day. You want to listen to it, but you know once it's open it can't be undone. Speaking of which, my only present to myself this year is a sealed Canadian label, mid-80's 16 track remaster of Little Richard! Haven't worked up the courage to open it yet.

    Christmas Dinner

Now don't over do it, Edgar. Me last night was Bay Scallops, topped with a lemon-garlic-wine sauce and a light salad, with a nice Chardonnay. Tonight . Lamb with baked asparagus, fresh tomatoes , stuffing and I'm decanting a 1973 Chateau Pichon LaLande Pauillac. I'm sitting here all alone this year so I might as well celebrate a little.
  17. Yup. My bad. Two 2uf's per speaker.
  18. Here's theUkranian Ebay guy I've used in the past. Either the brown cans or the greenies will work. I do believe it's a single 2uf and 4uf per speaker. https://www.ebay.com/str/valtek2005/Paper-in-Oil/_i.html?_storecat=3289815018
  19. Watched it for awhile last night. Very cool. Looks like no joy tonight. Rain moving in.
  20. Good score. Pop some Russian PIO's in the xovers and you are ready to rock.
  21. By the way, the measurements look off for a moderately sized horn loaded speaker. Did you guys check your math with the experts over in the Mod section? Or at least email Roy Delgado?
  22. You are on the right track with Pink Martini. They bill themselves as the official band of the Kennedy Administration. Buncha gay guys from Portland, fronted by major female musical talent, and a true flavor for the music of the times. Original music plus covers. Can't recommend them enough. But enough of that. Time to add a little German funk to the holidays:
  23. Best to both of you. Mike's good people.
