  1. I loved the sound of your system. Let me see if I can swing it. Would love to have them!
  2. I have a pair of them! Plus a pair of La Scala, Epic, KP201, ETC.
  3. I should note that my space is a little small for the K-horns. I need to drag a Belle out of storage for the middle. The most obvious difference is the sound stage is much more enhanced with the 802. The sweet spot is now much broader.
  4. I have listened to my new Bowers and Wilkins 802 Diamonds for a few weeks now. The 802 are sitting in front of my Klipshorns. The K-horns are running DeanG crossovers, the 802 are stock. The main difference between the two is efficiency and direct radiator vs. horns. My main impression is that the 802 beat the K-horns. They go higher and lower (based on my terrible ears). They consume more power (obviously), but sound better. They are both very detailed speakers. The most in-your-face difference is the 802 reveal all the sloppiness of time delay inherent in the Klipschorn. I never thought I could hear that so easily. The 802 are just more together than the K-horn. Both will go very loud! No, the Klipshorns will never be sold. I am going to get some digital processors to see if I can correct the time alignment of the corner horns and then compare again. I like the K-horns better for my vintage amps, but that is due to the power issue. What is going to happen is that B&W will be powering my HT, while Klipschorns with a Belle in the middle will be in a separate (yet to be constructed) audio-only room. I hope to get some testing data soon, but this is a very busy time for me at work. Pics will follow sometime soon.
  5. I have used Paul for all my work for the last 10 years or so. He did my work before he opened up his shop. I just drop it off at his house when I am in the area. I lived close by him up until a few years ago. Super nice guy and does wonderful work! You should see the JBL Oracle his dad redid for him in teak.
  6. In my worthless opinion (I know, everyone has one), The VRD's and NOS pre sounded heavenly. I was left wanting to hear more!
  7. Dang auto correct! Ya'll know what I meant.
  8. The first corns call was the Beta Sound M-100 first made circa 1978. I need to clear some stuff out of the way to get some pics of mine.
  9. I paid $800 for mine and that included an Adcom 555ii and 555ii preamp outside of Siloam Springs. There are an incredible amount of speaker flippers in this area and Siloam is only a little over an hour away from Tulsa. They sat on CL for about a month before I went to look at them. They were listed for $1200 in the listing with no mention of the amp and preamp. There is very little Klipsch that comes up for sale in the area, so the comment about them not coming up very often is right on. Prices on average are VERY high on most vintage gear in the Tulsa area. I am not going to say where the best buys are in Tulsa, but some are more than reasonable. I just bought a pair of B&W 802 Diamonds that have pushed my K-horns out of rotation for what I thought was a smokin' hot deal (about the same as I paid for my K-horns, which are pristine).
  10. Mike, The first link kind of freaks me. In 1970 Bob Moers and wife VG-VeeGee(sp?) would travel to Fayetteville to party with my wife and I. We were still in school and they a bit older. At that time the UofA ranked Playboy's number one party school in the country. Fayettetnam as we called it was very different from Hope. smile My best friend and audio mentor Cedric introduced us to the Moers and we hit it off. That introduction provided my wife and I, a couple of poor college kids, some outrageous audio for the times. The day of Quad so we ran two Khorns flank, two LaS center and two LaS rear. Amps that were sent free to PWK for evaluation we had for a song. Sorry for the trip down memory lane. Perhaps I should have PM'd. But in the Klipsch logs that I have read I have never seen mention of a Cedric. Just wonder where Bob Moers landed. Perhaps Hunter might have some memory of Cedric. (Kinker-Neal transmission line speakers) I am told that Bill Brewly was close to suicide before finishing the Plex Khorn. tc Bob landed in NWA. He passed away a couple of years ago (time is never correct for me so it may havve been several years ago). My son ran into VG a while back in Little Rock. Regardless of what any says, without Bob's marketing skills, Klipsch may have faded from memory by now since there would not have been a big company to continue. I have used a double exposure taken during one of the Klipsch Harvest Festivals on the West Patrol Road of myself with Bob in the background as an avatar.
  11. Gwen signed my Heresy pair. The first Klipsch I bought. 1977. I knew her and Jay quite well. I had them done in raw birch and had the edges routed over. Yours are quite beautiful.
  12. I couldn't see it either, and I was there!
  13. The first time I heard the Motengator was in '79 when we had them set up on a flatbed semi trailer for the Klipsch Harvest Festival as a stage on the West Patrol Road outside Old Washington. I need to scan some slides for the pics.
  14. As my grandfather always said: "It's not how long the rope, or how deep the well; It's how you dangle the bucket that counts!"
  15. Makes me want to get my OLA out of storage. I have two pair of bull nose OLA. Run them stacked. I had a couple pair of L112 that I ran stacked, but sold them and kept the OLA.
  16. I skimmed most of this and the main reason we will love AV's was touched on but not directly addressed: In twenty or less years, we will have AV's because we won't need someone to take the friggin' car keys away from us because we are endangering others! And, we can keep some independence in our lives instead of being packed off to assisted living.
  17. I have a Seven Deluxe that I have had long time. One of the few receivers that can A+B+C speakers. The tuner is a little week compared to my other Sansui, but I have yet to part with it!
  18. Anyone interested in some tube consoles? Grundig Majestic, Packard Bell, Stromberg Carlson, and Motoraloa lowboy with a Dual 1010 and a massive SS receiver (one of the best consoles I have listened to). I may bring other stuff like a couple of R2R (Teac 2 channel and 4 channel) that need work, Russco Studio Pro B, stacked OLA, JBL 9842d, etc. I always like to offer consoles in a complete state in case someone likes to restore them. In case know one does, I am tired of the spaace they take up and will begin gutting them for the parts. The Motorola has all the original paperwork and sales literature, but it is SS. Huge heat sinks on the back of it.
  19. I first heard Klipschorns in 1976 at the Klipsch listening room in Hope. PWK and Bob Moers auditioned them for me. A couple of Khorns with a Belle in between powered by McIntosh gear. Needless to say, I was blown away! I had heard Heresy and Cornwalls at friends in Hope. I bought my first pair, Heresy in raw birch with rounded front corners, at the factory for $429 for the pair. Discounted since i had done quite a bit of work to help Klipsch. IIRC, employees at that time could buy a pair for $180. Everyone thought I was nuts to have the front edges routered, but I still liked them. Never stained them.
  20. I will check around and see what I can find. I am no longer in the business of manufacturing these products, though. If I can score a sample or two, I will gladly share. I will see if I can get a gallon sized sample.
  21. They both work about the same. The molecules are slightly different. The Cyastat 609 is a 50% active and has sulfate where the Cyastat SN is a 35% active and has a nitrate addition on the molecule. I have used both. My choice was always which one was available in my stockroom.
  22. The Cyastat used should also be Cyastat 609 for best results. It is the one recommended for PVC. I also don't know why it isn't added during the molding process. http://www.ingenieriayespecialidades.co/actual/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cytec-Antiestatic-Agent.pdf
  23. Cyastat is a quat, the same as anti-static agents in fabric softener. NOT identical! There are various quaternary amonium compounds with many and varied uses. I use a quat mixture for killing mold on record jackets. Quats leave a residue. Pesticidal quats leave a residual for killing germs, mold, and mildew. I will have to look at my old formulary and McCutcheons manual. There are nearly identical materials to Cyastat from other manufacturers. There are also fabric softeners with quats that not only soften, but kill micro-organisms.
