  1. Here is a link to Guitar Center for the American Recorder Technologies XLR Male to RCA Female Adapter Nickel http://www.guitarcenter.com/American-Recorder-Technologies/XLR-Male-to-RCA-Female-Adapter.gc The is the one type, the other is XLR Female to RCA Female Adapter
  2. Thanks for the offer! I was mostly joking about that as I expect to be able to get some help. I dont' even know where Brushy Creek is. Actually, one thing that I will need before i can hook them up is adapters. THe EV DX-38 has balanced inputs/outputs. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has suggestions on adapters for RCA connectors and/or potential sources for them. Chris is correct, Guitar Center carriers XLR to RCA in stock. You can get just the adapter, solid metal barrel, XLR (either male or female) on one end and RCA on the other. You need 4 of one type, and two of the other IIRC (or is it 4 and 4?) I cannot recall how many females and how many males on the XLR end.. All will be RCA female. You use your existing RCA interconnects to plug into those barrel adapters. If you have some more time you can order them from Markertech a little bit (maybe it was a lot cheeper). Unless you are very good with a solder iron, and knowledgeable about cables, I would not mess around with trying to make cables. Most people cannot do it, and most don't have any idea how to go from a xlr on one end and an RCA to the other. It is a lot simpler to go from XLR to XLR, but you still have to pay close attention to where that ground is going, and getting the right cable/shielding to do it properly. Later on if you want to get cables that go from XLR to RCA you can measure exactly what you need and get them custom made, or order pre-made lengths. There are a few sources listed on here, but you will want to check that they make XLR to RCA. There are a lot of great cable makers that go from RCA to RCA and XLR to XLR but for some reason they have a lot of trouble going from one type of end to the other. It is probably the people they hire to do it are used to doing one type and proceed without asking questions. Markertech makes those cables in various lengths. Others with DX38 can chime in if they are running cables that go from xlr to rca, or using barrel adapters and going RCA to RCA. Cornman has a balanced preamp I recall so he didn't need some of those adapters. Are you in Dallas area?
  3. that's forgivable Travis...i've hit send and then realized that i sent a private email to the wrong person...talk about a instant rise of blood pressure. I cannot type on these phones. Dictation software is good for some things, and not so much others. I hit the wrong buttons all the time. Someone on here, a great guy, mentioned the "swiping" technique of typing but I haven't gotten the hang of that yet. Travis
  4. I think you missed my point.Everyone, me included, understand that the owner of site can do as they wish. It's a given. I also did not argue that this was a free speech zone. I merely cited that our "inclination" in the USA is to embrace free speech as a value. You DO get that, I hope? My point was to address what makes people enjoy or not enjoy forums, based on a set of assumptions. It's just an opinion, and that's why at the end I said it was NOT a suggestion. I wasn't asking anyone to change anything. I was speculating on the value of knowing what these actors were about. And, I was claiming that I found lots of value in seeing them act out their parts. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Klipsch can do whatever it wants. That's just boring boilerplate and had nothing to do with my post. What was your point? I wouldn't think retyping it out would be of any additional value. It's as clear as a bell in the original post. I accidentally hit send before I put in my content relating to the clarification I was seeking. I appologize for that.
  5. "Content" has a particular meaning in the copyright context. It doesn't offend me at all. Recently a long time member with thousands of posts left this forum and right before his departure started to use the term "content" to refer to his previous posts. I just thought it was an interesting choice of words is all. "Content" certainly works, so does "their post" or "their words" or "their thoughts."

What was your point?Life is like literature amd we need to see characters evolve to understand their real meaning? Or that someone posting "content" has an ownership interest in their content? Wouldn't it be simpler for people to be civil, didpomatic and not condescending and for those who are interested in the "character" behind the author to correspond with them privately?
  7. Do you upgrade the crossovers one at a time and go switch back and forth for a time, or both together? What is the life of a cap in a crossover? Like the Jupiter for example? It is a function of age, or hours of use, or a combination?
  8. "Content"? That came up recently on here. The TOS is clear that posting on here becomes the property of the host. There is no argument on that, if you choose to post here you agree to that. You can post, or not. "Content", interesting choice of words there, and an interesting and familar sounding argument.
  9. Free speech doesn't apply here, it is a bad analogy. Any one can create their own web site and be as condescending, arrogant or hateful to their heart's content. When you go on a public forum, such as this one, it is per their rules. Free speech is vital to a free society, it isn't vital to an internet audio forum. I agree that there was something to be learned; some did, some didn't, and some never will. I suspect they will be learning now.
  10. That is an excellent suggestion Carl. What speakers will these be powering? What are your main sources? CD? Streaming from Computer, Digital files?
  11. I didn't realize they had a remote. It was an option later on, I believe that most do not have a remote. Does Craig's preamp come with a remote option?
  12. Congratulations Dave, and 10,000 of those were in the Autonomous Car thread, organ music and reel to reel audio. The rest were probably herding cats.
  13. Congratulations, i would have have passed out. She is beautiful.
  14. So how are things sounding? What will be your next step, if anything?
  15. Yep, that's why I got banned! I will be happy to be banned again. Then I will be needing another sock puppet. Are you up for the job again Dean? You did a real good job on the Eliptrac HF thread a while ago! There was always a need on this forum for somebody to identify the snake-oil. It always seems to get interpreted as a personal attack, no matter how carefully the critique is crafted. I might as well go for it! An another thing, I don't need this forum to sell my stuff! I got all the work I can handle and then some. That's why I foolishly let you build my Universal! NEVER AGAIN! Al K. Edit: I forgot to mention: Dean, you shouldn't feal slighted. There's lots if insults scattered around this thread for you too! Al it sounds like you are asking to get banned and I would hate to see you not participate on this forum. You would be missed my me and many others for your knowledge and experience with Klipsch speakers. It would be the forums loss if it happens. I have took your advice many times with my Klipsch speakers for a better sound. Please tone it down and stay to the benefit of the members here. Hopeful, but not likely. What's the Over/Under?
  16. Maron is a legend. Here is a link to just a sample of what he was about. He was a recording engineer for the St. Louis Philharmonic for many, many years. I met him on this forum. When he found out I was interested in reel to reel he sent me, unsolicited, a master tape he recorded, and the lp that was cut from the master. He always encouraged us to go out and record our own stuff. He is a great man, and I hope he gets well soon. Travis http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?27666-Best-JBL-EVER/page5
  17. Do you have some photos. The Jubes at the time that Cornman ordered his came either all birch, or could could have it come with a finished veneer center panel, in Walnut, Cherry, and I am not sure what else. There are more than a few folks on here that have gotten Jubes with that veneer panel. It sounds like raw birch to me. Are the backs painted black, or is it all raw? The other thing that people do is make grills for those front openings, and I am sure you have seen photos of those before. If someone can post Khorn decorators that were stained that will give you a good idea of what it will look like stained. The ones I have seen in a darker stain came out looking great. Travis
  18. The Austin area got between 4 and 8 inches last night
  19. But if the Creator sent him, 2015 years ago, was he technically an alien? When he returns will he be an alien?
  20. So far we up to what speed for space travel, 1/18,000th the speed of light? 70 to 80 thousand years to reach the nearest star. Is interstellar space travel even possible?
  21. I'm lost, who is the Microwave Engineer here? I think they called it Acoustic Engineering in those days, up to the present. John Hilliard was a fairly prominent one in the early 30s, an EE.
