So... head over/down to the Lounge area and join the Guitars and more... section. We could probably get Travis to move some of these posts over to it.

    @Travis In Austin

@Marvel Bruce and @Kevin cornette Kevin,

    You are over here now.

P.S. Bruce, I had a chance to talk to Roy about Rat Fur covered Professional Speakers finally. Can’t find our email/pm where you asked me to ask him and what the specific question were. Can you shoot me a PM, or post in Pro “Rat Fur” Professional with your question(s) and I will answer them?

Is that permissible? I didn't know if that was ok. I'll put something up tomorrow morning.

Um, technically iffy, It says “audio related” in TOS I believe. Someone put a car in their once and I had to draw the line.

    Guitar, Audio????

    Close enough.

    post away.

    Good day all!

I'm putting up for sale my set of Synergy C-3 speakers, in black.

Centre, stereo towers, satellite R&L, no woofer.

Figured I'd post here for the Klipsch fans of the world.

I'm in Oz so likely not where I'm going to find a buyer but you never know.

    Cheers.

We have Forum members in Oz, so you never know.

As @wuzzzer suggested up above, post in Garage Sale sections with photos and price.

  4. Roy has been working on ideas on how to show, with real-world examples, of differences in direct radiator vs. horn-loaded subwoofer design, performance, and sound. He has come up with a way to demonstrate in a concrete way how these basic subwoofer designs differ in sound and distortion (among other things).

How is he going to do this? He is having his team build four subwoofer cabinets with different design elements. An evolution of subwooferage (an industry term) you will be able to hear for yourselves with their corresponding pros and cons.

We also learned today that Jim has been mining the archives for never-before-seen PWK drawings and other tidbits dating back to the '40s where Mr. K was working on the bottom end to offer "full range." As you know, he could initially do this with the original 2 way Klipsch horn. Apparently, PWK was experimenting with porting/venting on his X-3 prototype and Jim will point that out. You will also see some concepts PWK was working on very early on with large horn-loaded speaker designs, and large in comparison to his Klipschorn.

Mike Dyer, the official Klipsch Heritage Brand Ambassador for Klipsch Group, Inc. is developing a presentation to put this evolution into perspective. He might even be able to show you some things that he has Roy doing to his AK-3 Khorns that will be offered to all Klipschorn owners,

  5. Roy @Chief bonehead has added an extra half day to the class:

Half-Day added for Friday, November 10th starting at 1:00 PM

The Subfest '23 Event scheduled for November 11th, with pre-registration on Friday, November 10th from 1 to 5, (dinner starting at 6:00 P.M. cooked by Chief Bonehead) has been extended with a half-day on Friday November 10th.

Chief Bonehead announced at our latest planning meeting today that he has been "cooking" up some great stuff for this class and he cannot fit it into one full day, so we are going to start the course at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Klipsch Factory, so please adjust your travel plans accordingly. Don't panic if airlines, work, etc. won't allow you to arrive until Friday evening, Roy says what he has planned for Friday afternoon is like spaghetti sauce or Texas Chili - "it's better the next day." We will be repeating that segment during the following day.

We are looking forward to seeing you at this event.

    Sincerely,

    The Subfest '23 Planning Team*

    @Deang and @Chief bonehead

    Dean or Roy,

I obviously don’t have the technical expertise to answer this question and I don’t know if the Atlas speakers are parts that are still available from Klipsch Parts.

Dean can you PM him with some direction?

I suspect that he is in another country, and English is second language so the normal options may be limited for him, if’s that not correct, apologize to him in advance.

So are you going to remove the Super Heresy thread for example? And how about the cabinet refinishing discussions? Unathorized modifications?

Not planning on removing any older DIY, upgrade threads, I’m planning on trying to move those all to an archived section where they will be available to view but not respond to (it creates confusion as to what’s currently allowed, what isn’t). That’s a project for a different day.

There isn’t any problem at all with refinishing or cabinet repair topics.  There have been several since this thread was posted and pinned.

But now its forbidden to mention his resource for Klipsch products? I'm disappointed in your narrow-minded attitude change for whatever reason. I don't think Paul Klipsch would be pleased.

Yes. Unfortunately it became a game with some to respond to any post about a set of older speakers to slip in a comment about capacitors or networks from 3rd party vendors. These responses had nothing whatsoever to do with the original posts. This was after Klipsch went to considerable time and expense to develop, test, measure kits for many of the Heritage networks and keeping the original sound along with approving an authorized supplier of those kits and an authorized rebuilder.

Unfortunately, several attempts to quell the “games” of slipping in unsolicited gratuitous recommendations for 3rd party products failed.  It was just simply easier to prohibit discussion about non-approved 3rd party vendors on Klipsch’s Forum.

You are absolutely correct, PWK would not be pleased, but not in the sense you mean. The historical record is clear (documents, letters, Dope From Hope articles, etc.) that PWK would have gone ballistic about vendors claiming to have “improved” balancing network designs, capacitor kits that “meet factory specs”, offered build your own speaker kits that used the name of two of this trademarked speakers and many other examples. In short, he would have never allowed a speaker manufacturer/competitor’s speakers to be discussed or their notions of what an upgrade or improvement might be to his designs.

PWK designed, measured/tested his own upgrades and offered them. Nothing he offered in terms of an update/improvement/upgrade came without a detailed explanation of the engineering and testing that led to the change, and what the results of the changes were.

Klipsch continues with this upgrade philosophy as seen with the recent Forte III to IV kits. I think you will see even more upgrades coming from Klipsch.

If people want to pursue a different path on what they do with their speakers that’s fine. Do it on the DIY platforms.

if people have inherited or purchased an older set of speakers they want to restore to original, they are most welcome to post here and they will get the help to accomplish that.

I’m sorry to hear of your disappointment, so I have provided some of the background to help shed some light on the decision.

Hey guys, Sorry to unearth this, but I am currently trying to get rid of a fuzzy sound in one of my tweeters.  I just bought a set of 3.5's at a Goodwill for $100.  I won't go all into it, but I really just need help with the wiring.  They were both wired differently.  To keep it brief, how do you wire these?  The PCB has WW and TT and then two other wires coming off it.  I assumed the WW were the positive and negative leads that go directly to the woofer, but one cabinet has the W negative running to the input!  I was confused by this, but tried it.  It works, but still getting the fuzzy cracking in my tweeter at higher volumes.  I have no idea if the wiring could affect things like this, but I have tried almost everything else besides buying a new xo.  Thanks for any help on how to get these wired correctly and any other advise is also welcomed.  I removed the tweeter, swapped it, got a new woofer and even listened to the tweeter outside of the cabinet, so I know it's not the cabinet or the tweeter/woofer.  Thanks again!

    Welcome to the Forum.

If you snap some photos and post I’m sure we can help you get them s figured out.

I have an Aegir pushing two KLF 10s in a relatively large room - 12' x 30' basement rec room.  I purchased the KLF 10s when I was very young...just a kid with his first decent paycheck.  They were sitting in my basement until I purchased an Aegir, Saga+, and Modius DAC.  The volume is just sufficient.  It sounds good but if I push the Saga+ preamp volume past 3/4....which is just loud enough for comfortable listening......the Aegir goes into protection mode.  I keep a laptop cooling fan under the Aegir which seems to help dissapate the heat.  Any less power and I would probably be dissapointed.   All that being said, with the lossless files on Tidal....you get a taste of that in the room feeling.  But now...having had whif of HiFi...and having heard Magnepan LRS speakers......Im in the conundrum.  Do I just get the new Vidar and pair with the LRS?  OR........do I go for broke....get a Kara or Freya + along with another Aegir....and run as mono blocs....trying to push the Magnepans.....???????

I think they were a flop as they are now selling them off at a big discount. I thought about buying a pair of Forte IVs if I could refinish them. I agree they are hideous and racing whether you like it or not is irrelevant to home audio.

They sold out of the Limited Edition MCL 905 in two months, probably most to Europe, but who knows. They were $16,000 a pair.

They have sold thousands of other co-branded products like Lou Reed ear buds, and they even had some of those left over at the end.

It’s hard to measure success of a limited/signature series product by what excess inventory they discount  at the end. I think Corey managed to get the last 3 pairs of Forte’s, but who knows how many they made and sold before that?

McLaren is a car company that has a racing division (F1 and GT). Their cars sell for $250K up to near 1 million. They make about 4,000 cars a year, by hand. I think they announced their 20,000th car made about 2 years ago.

Papaya Orange (did someone call that yellow?) is trademarked (yes you can trademark a color) and is well known to those that travel in those circles.

The McLaren dealership I was in had all of the smaller products in stock and on display, I don’t know if that was true everywhere.

It is for certain a very exclusive market, and an uber luxury brand.

That's not exactly true.  Roy showed two of the prototypes publicly at the Audio Advice Live show back in August.  You can see them in this YouTube video.

There ya go. As you say Those are working prototypes but only two of the four. Grandpa and Papa. Momma and Baby are in the flyer (my designations, working titles).

Roy and his team have been working on them constantly since then.
