  1. As long as she follows the path of the other two, I won't have a problem with her.
  2. I run mine about 4dB hot. Perfectly flat just doesn't cut it for me. More than 6dB hot overemphasizes the bass too much IMHO. Carl
  3. This is Groomies new sig. "No longer active member of Forum"
  4. I would think that you could set up an activity to do that. Doesn't setting up an activity involve telling the remote what component you want to change volume/stations/etc? My remote is set up to use my cable box to change stations when watching cable and my TV's tuner to change channels when watching over the air HD. I would think you could select the component to control volume as well. When in doubt, call their tech support, they're very good.
  5. Jeeesh, that's scary. My kids razz me because I lock the doors when they're home. Even though they're in their early 20's (daughter) and 19 (son) I still do it. After reading your story, I'm glad I do.
  6. Typical horn loaded sub issues are a limited (and peaky) frequency range and lack of extension. A horn has to be fairly large to dig deep. Don't be misled by specs. How is the 130 dB measured and at what frequency? In the port? My son has a sub in his van that will meter 148 dB at 34 Hz, but I wouldn't want it in my HT. Bottom line is that you have a large room with multiple openings. In order to have decent output in your room, your going to have a lot of displacement and move a lot of air. A compact 10" horn loaded sub just isn't going to give you what you want IMHO. On the other hand, if it's cheap enough, go ahead and build it. You won't have much to loose and it will be a good exercise in subwoofer construction.
  7. All of your pet peeves about subwoofers can be conquered by building an IB. All but the stereo part, that's up to your processor.
  8. You can check avsforum. They usually have tons of info on the new panels.
  9. It appears you're overdriving your sub. Time to think about a bigger or multiple subs. Horn loaded subs are generally not great at HT (other than maybe a Danley DTS-20).
  10. Finally.......................... How long have you had that driver anyways?
  11. Looks like there's a hurricane force field keeping storms out of the Gulf. Let's hope it will hold up a few more months.
  12. Usually port noise is detected when the sub is driven too hard and the port velocity is so high that it's audible. How big is your room? How many openings? How loud do you listen?
  13. HERE'S where I bought mine. I also agree with JJK on geting the antenna up as high as you practically can. When you're done, be sure to go into your TV's set up menu. You'll have to do a channel scan to find the stations that are available to you. THIS site will show you what stations are available in your area. An antenna amplifier will help pull in fringe stations if necessary.
  14. To pick up over the air HD (or SD for that matter) you need an antenna and a digital tuner in your TV OR an antenna and a converter box to work with your old analog TV. I have cable and an OTA antenna. There's a noticeable PQ improvement when you switch from cable to OTA. The OTA signals are not compressed and are much clearer that cable. There's an improvement in audio also.
  15. I've had mine above and below the TV and really can't tell the difference. When you watch a movie, your brain thinks the sound is coming out of the mouths of the people on the screen no matter where the speaker is. I have my center channel below my KURO now. The only thing you have to worry about (other than angling it howard your ears) is if you have an enclosed space for your center and your center is rear ported. The rear ports in an enclosed housing will give a slight echo to the dialog. You can line the back of the space with some sound absorbing material and fix that however.
  16. What do you use to remove the cat sphincter prints or are the tops just polka dotted?
  17. "Semenya"? Come on, that's too easy.
  18. Welcome to the forum. The Sub12 is a great performer as well as a great buy. You can pick them up at a discounted price from time to time and they become even more appealing. I would never use a demo at Best Buy to determine how something actually sounds. Finding one that is actually set up properly is about as rare as finding one of their sales associates that knows more about audio than the average audio enthusiast.
  19. They sure look like his. The veneer is offset like his was and a couple of the e-bay pics look identical to the ones that were posted here.
  20. Use the meter to get close and then your ears for the final setting. Most people run their subs a few dB's hot anyways.
  21. Can you run HDMI cables from your PS3 to your AVR?
