  1. I did not veneer over the original plywood. I glued, filled, sanded, and routered prior to treatment (for blotching) and stain, followed by many coats of wipe-on poly. Here is the rear brace mocked up. It will also support another brace/support for the mid horn. I sunk screws into the baffle prior to coating, so now it will use magnets vs velcro.
  2. I picked up a set of 1982 Heresy last year to go in my workshop, with the intent to refinish them. I started the project earlier this year, as well as many others, so I am getting back to finishing said project. Earlier this year, I took them apart, glued, filled, routered, sanded, stained, and finished, and then was forced to finish other projects before coming back to them. I am currently in the process of finishing up the front baffles with Duratex and additional bracing to the rear panel. Once those are done, I will put them back with new drivers (Crites woofers, A-55's, and CT-120's) and upgraded crossovers, which I've put on a smaller board. The day I purchased them: Temporarily setup in my garage: Filling and sanding: Added bracing: Wood is finished: Nearly finished front panel. Will do one more coat of Duratex after I get the other speaker at this point. I want to do the final coat at the same time with the same consistency of the watered down Duratex.
  3. They have them listed here as well... https://auralfetish.com/products/klipsch-lascala-custom-restoration
  4. I'm tempted to make an offer as a friend of mine wants a set. They will probably be offended, based on the asking price.
  5. I hit up some Black Friday sales for stuff I already wanted. The RZR got some new front control arms for more clearance and strength. Also upgraded bushings and ball joints.
  6. I've been impressed how well my single sub (self-built, SVS-like) has kept up with my La Scala's. I have considered a second sub, but about the only time it doesn't keep up, is on really bass-heavy music that is already much louder than I really need to be listening to. This is using a driver from an RW-12d and powered by a BASH 300, tuned at 20hz and crossed over at 80hz (La Scalas crossed at 60hz).
  7. I picked up a clean set for $800 off this forum a couple years ago. I got lucky that I had a friend out in CA that wasn't far from them and his parents were already making a trip to see him and back, so shipping ended up being free! 've since upgraded them and will completely refinish them next year. I plan to let these go the same way the previous owner let them go... death.

His BMW is direct injected, which makes the job a little tougher (think diesel) when it comes to getting the injectors out of the vehicle. The pictures in the link you posted all look setup for a port injector injector.

    Seafoam and run it hard.
  10. These just posted yesterday. Looks like a fantastic buy from what I can see. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1009454926216459/ I can probably help with securing them if needed... Just reimburse be for fuel as I live in Denver.

More track time this weekend with some fresh(ish) tires. Really starting to like the turbo and aero and I've now done 3 track days with zero maintenance... I did 120 miles on track this past Saturday alone! Turns out, my car is quieter than I thought. It's only got a single, 3" straight-thru muffler (and a turbo to muffle).
  12. There is a set here in CO that you might ask about. They are priced a bit high though. https://pueblo.craigslist.org/ele/d/trinidad-klipsch-lascala-ii/7223887172.html
  13. They look to be in good enough condition to refinish, which is what I was looking for when I bought a set of 1982 Heresy's last year. I paid $375 and the drivers were in great condition and the capacitors had already been replaced. Mine had never been finished with anything on the wood, so when I went to refinish them, I didn't have to deal with trying to get any of that off.
  14. That shouldn't last long! If I were in the market for those (or had a room to use them), I'd buy them.
  15. Not quite finished with needing to finish trim around the fireplace and paint the room, but I'm back with surround sound after loosing my last theater due to moving. I have been happier with my "theater" being the living room as it gets used a lot more. Previous theater:
  16. They're worth at least 930/1,395 of asking price.
  17. My theater these days is the living room, so keeping it cleans is desirable. The wife hasn't given any grief with La Scalas and a large sub, so I'm good with that. Plus, making it really dark isn't particularly easy here... There are 5 more windows on the opposite side. We have blinds and curtains now, but there is still plenty of light. These windows aren't small:
  18. I had 7.1 in my theater build, but with the current viewing room, I went with 5.1. I did in-walls for the rear and made the mantle a center channel speaker, in attempts to hide everything. I do not have the desire to litter my ceiling with speakers, nor the added equipment. I mostly enjoy music anyway, which is just 2.1 for me. I'll never 'upgrade' to Atmos.
  19. That looks more like OSB to me.
  20. The mantle is the only one that takes a grill though...
  21. Yep, it's gas. I have plans for a removable heat shield as I did test the fireplace running for several hours. Although it got pretty warm, it wasn't 'burning'. We don't really use the fireplace unless we lose power all day during a winter storm.
  22. Got my new center channel speaker operable today. Grill is coming soon as I want it to not look like a speaker.

Got the car out to a NASA event at High Plains Raceway this weekend. I ran HPDE 4 as I knew I'd be rusty... And I was. This was the first time I had the car out on the track in 4.5 years, so I had to get back into the groove.... I definitely did not pickup where I left off. I ran wastegate spring for this event, which was between 4.5-5 PSI. I was on 4.5 year old RE71R's and it was about 88F and 5k ft above sea level. I also needed to bleed the brakes, as It's been nearly 5 years... But they worked fine, just a touch squishy. I was worried about heat in the turbo area, so I did as much shielding as I could and picked up a fire extinguisher. The only issues I had where that I had a radiator vent hose come loose, which didn't happen on track, and my V-band clamp loosen up on the turbo to downpipe. The first time I went out, open lapping on Friday, I saw my OEM temp gauge start moving up several bars, making me nervous, so I backed off and did some easier laps. Once off track, I pulled the log off the ECU and it showed a max coolant temp of 201. Knowing that AEM internal logging is hit or miss, I strapped my laptop in the passenger seat for the first session on Saturday, which is what I am looking at in the video. The data matched what I had seen with the internal log, so I didn't pay much attention to the OEM gauge. My max temps all weekend were: Coolant - 203F Oil - 235F Air temp on track - 105F Data from the back straight: First session on Saturday, checking my laptop for true coolant temps: Again, very rusty and this was the first time out with the turbo and aero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF7SXLpZluQ I also had a customer S2000 out, who placed 1st in TT1 and got the lap record! He makes a bit more power with a lot more grip.
  24. Here are some Heresy speakers I am refinishing. I can't remember the pretreatment I used, but I found it on this forum. Seemed to work really well (3 treatments). I set some screws in the front in place of the velcro and am hiding them with doing the front baffle in Duratex. With magnets glued the grill, it should be pretty clean.
