  1. I think it's a fine title, it got me to look and wondering if I should own a demo disk. Really, I could get used to it on my system and then when I go window shopping for speakers/systems I would have a good reference from which to make a valid comparison. D

I don't believe that these have proper factory packing to be shipped by UPS. I would only buy these, or any RF-7's, if you can pick them up. ---------------- You are exactly right! If you have to have an item shipped UPS then don't expect "factory packaging" to be enough to get them where they are headed without getting damaged. I realized that after they damaged my subwoofer and then claimed it wasn't packaged properly. With as careless a manner in which UPS handles their packages, it really wasn't packaged well enough but insurance covered the damage as they should have. Bottom line, don't accept "factory packaging" as being enough to get your purchase to you undamaged. D
  3. You have to love this quote: "I paid just under $1500 a piece for these speakers, here is a chance to get some awesome speakers at a huge discount!!" So, he paid $3,000 for this pair of speakers?!? Let's just hope not! D

I'm still going to check it out, but I'm not exactly going to rush out to see it. At least my expectations won't be too high. ---------------- From what Skonopa posted, it seems Ebert's quote was taken out of context. FF is supposed to be ashamed to be playing in the same theatres as Superman, Spiderman, etc. I think I would be mad if I were Ebert... D

M ---------------- I would have to agree with Mike's assessment. I just watched a mint pair of RB5's go on EBAY for $249+ $50 for shipping. I paid $330 for my pair last year and have been very pleased with them! I can't say I have heard the RB-25s before but I don't think you can go wrong with a set of RB-5's. D

I've gone through almost all of my 200+ CDs and listened to most of my favorite tracks from them. Watched several concert DVDs and a few DVD movies too. One thing I noticed that if the recording is mediocre, it sounds really bad with the volume way up. I have a feeling that these speakers will have me searching for better quality recorded music in a hurry. I've experimented a little with positioning and toeing-in of the speakers and think I've found the optimum for my listening room. If I really turn up the volume, I move my listening position back about 5 feet from where I normally sit. Helps to reduce the ringing ear effect. The only person beside me to hear the speakers is my wife. Her comment on them? "They sound too clear. I don't like them. I like how our old speakers sounded. The voices were more muffled." Needless to say, she has a smile on her face when she listens to her favorite music at louder than normal levels. If I had to use one word to describe my new speakers...clarity. Clarity that brings recorded sound alive more than a person can realize. Sitting in the dark, eyes closed, hearing and feeling Joe Walsh's fingers slide on his guitar. Flinching at gunshots. How anybody would buy anything other than Klipsch after doing an A/B comparison is beyond me. Thanks goes out to my best friend who started me out with his humble .5 bookshelf speakers mated to a KG SW passive bandpass subwoofer, and to another friend who invited me over to listen to his RF-7s! ---------------- I hear what you are saying! I felt the same way when I bought my RB5's and RF3IIs! Great clarity with music and movies! They just simply blew my old Pioneers away! I also hear you concerning the quality music aspect. I had my system cranked (which now has an RC-7) with my Denon 3802 and could barely hear a Bruce Springsteen song I had playing through my TIVO from an MP3 on my desktop computer. I thought an amp or something had blown in my receiver it was playing so softly and somewhat distorted. However, when I switched to regular CD and even to the tuner the crisp sound and volume had returned. It made me wonder if the digital music was encoded with low quality MP3...

This thing is awesome, but wife doesnt want a big box in the living room so I need to find a more compact solution. This is brand new in the box and has never been opened. Color is black. I would prefer local pickup if possible. I live in Anahiem, Ca 92806. Asking $900, please email me at jimmyzdc@hotmail.com if interested. Thanks! Jaime You can see my ebay feedback here: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=jimmyzdc ---------------- Personally, I don't see th esub as being that big. Heck go get one of the SVS subs and then let her tell you the RSW12 is big... I really love my RSW12 for music and movies... Good luck! D
  8. Where do you live Baxter? Maybe you can sell them to me and I can give it a go? Seriously, I can't help much but I do know I recently purchased an RC-7 (replacing an RC3II) and I was having problems getting it to sound worth the extra coins. It is Cherry and beautiful but I finally tinkered with the tones and different modes that it sounds great now! It is very interesting how the subtle changes going between Dolby D PLII Music and Dolby Prologic and Dolby D Cinema can make a drastic affect on how your center channel sounds. I will be settign up my RC3II as a rear center to see if I can notice a difference with a 6.1 set-up. D
  9. Seller says this woofer has a second magnet (the bucking magnet) that reverses the polarity to offset the driver's magnetic image that would affect the TV. Is this a step up from those that have the metal shield around the magnet? If I bought one new from Klipsch does anyone know which one I would be sent? Thanks, D
  10. Thanks Mike! Yes, I have checked with Klipsch and a new one is only $58 with free shipping. I am now wondering if I can take the metal plate off mine and place it on this one that is missing the plate. Plus, since I have a set of RF3II's it wouldn't be bad to have an extra woofer just in case, if the price is right. Thanks, D
  11. Okay, I got it. I still don't know if it is truly an RC-7 woofer but I do think the metal plate around the magnet is the sheild to protect my TV from the magnet field. That makes sense to me, is that truly what it is? D
  12. Can any of you confirm (or deny) that this is an RC-7 woofer. It doesn't look like the one in my RC-7 (mine has a solid metal covering over the magnets). So, what do you guys think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5787113472&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Thanks, D
  13. Welcome to the party Cool Blue! Some people get their feathers ruffled with the way EBAY and Paypal do business. I certainly can't blame them but the other option is to not go there. When I get burned I am sure I will toss my hands up and say no mas, but, for now, I still peruse and purchase on a regular basis. Congrats on your purchase! D

  15. There were a couple of pairs of mint condition RB3s on EBAy that solf for $180 and 150 respectively just a few days ago... D
  16. What, you didn't like Hocus Pocus?!? What is this world coming to?!? D
  17. My dad has a liquid gass powered soldering iron. About the size of a mid sized screw driver, you light the gas in a little chamber on the iron and away you go. It was handy but my soldering skills lack much to be desired!

I suppose $450 isn't too bad. I bought mine on EBAY for $415 shipped. It was brand new from a dealership ( I don't know if an authorized dealership) out in AZ. It worked extremely well for what I paid for it and was very pleased. Un fortunately, when I reold it and shipped it via UPS they destroyed it! Tragic ending to a beautiful story... D
  19. What could these be, possibly some KLF-20s? I am not in CO and certainly have no more money to spend on speakers (just bought an RC-7 so I am more than flat broke for a while) but I am curious what these are. D
  20. I went looking around and it seems the 3803 or even the 3805 would be more comparable to the 8400. The 3801 isn't going to have all the bells and whistles that the 8400 probable has. With that aside, I sure would like for someone who has listened to both to make a comparison on the sound of each. Not that I am looking to replace mine, I am just in a mood to experiment with a few different receivers. D

They are built like a tank and sound great. I think they are a little short on power to drive anything more than a set of RF35s because I feel the 3802 gives me the volume I was wanting without maxing out. I can't comment on how it compares to the Marant, though, because I have never heard them side by side. However, some members here have gotten my interest peaked about how well the Marantz woudl sound with the Klipsch. Funny thing is, almost every receiver made today is being used with a set of Klipsch speakers and almost every individual will swear that their's sound great.
  22. Gotta say I liked this movie. I thought it was entertaining but the style of the movie really made it unique and worth watching.
