  1. Well, if Amy weights 252 lbs, remind me never to piss her off. 2 packages, 126 pound TOTAL.
  2. Can you believe two of these things probably weigh more than Amy? Scheduled Delivery: 03-April-2007 Shipment Detail Ship To: Scott Anderson Number of Packages 2 UPS Service: GROUND Weight: 126.0 LBS Tracking Number: 1Z33334WX03912X352 Reference Number 1: pCAT 1
  3. Nice repsonse. I'm going to save that one for some of the shipping questions I get when I sell something on Ebay.
  4. Yes, I have a pair of 5's. They had been serviced at Audio Classics about a year before I bought them. The 5's sounded fantastic but I can't get much more detailed than that. Unfortunatley I've got more amps than I have time to listen to them all. Some day I will have time. You know, I've had some Ebay messages about Ebay filtering emails to sellers in an effort to thwart people ending auctions early to close deals outside of Ebay. Maybe Yoyo isn't getting your messages. Model 2's really went through the roof last year. They were going for at least twice what 5's were going for.
  5. yes. I was salivating over the model 1's with the power supplies. the guy has come across quite a collection, but either I'm too demanding because I requestd 3 additional photo's and a personal pick-up, or this guy know's he'll sell'em regardless.. and he will. His english is broken, but not bad. I left him my phone number (which I never do), which show's how bad I'd love to get my paw's on these amps. The 2's and 5's came highly regarded by Guy, and I've been wanting to start a vintage marantz collection. These would sure go a long way to that home front. I'm a pretty good judge of these ebay sellers and Marantz gear. These 5's look to be in pretty darn good condition and the seller appears to be pleasing some pretty hard core collectors from perusing his feedback. I'm familiar with some of the usernames that have left him feedback. There really isn't a whole lot more to picture on the 5's. No tube cages though. They're nice to have from a collectors standpoint. Anyway, they look untouched inside, that's always a good sign. No dust and couldn't see any scracthes, another plus. Did he sell those 1's with the Stereo adpater yet?
  6. pCATS Thanks, Lee Lee, So you are going to take delivery of the pCats, I thought you were looking for someone to take your place. Pretty ballsy of you to take delivery of VRD's then put a deposit down on pCats a month later! Just couldn't get enough new amps could you?
  7. Allan, the Axis isn't the typical Linn sprung suspension is it? Some kind of simpler rubber suspension right? Mikey, that might work better for you on your old bouncy floors.
  8. Well Mark at Juicy Music did make 9 or 10 of the mini-boxes and was selling them for aroung $165. Once you have the mini box, it's just a matter of hooking things up. I'll bet he sold them all though.
  9. Oh Geez, don't ask Craig to paint the polished stainles steel. I just cost Craig a bloody fortune due mainly to the fact that he wanted 14 Gauge 4B stainless steel sheet on the top plate. Stainless is easy to clean, especially the grained finish. Save the planet... don't paint stainless.
  10. Here is PWK's schematic of the box needed which also details how to hook it up. There is one of two schematics from the Dope from Hope. I can't find the other one but it's out there if you search hard enough.
  11. That would be a good price for a speaker finished in Zebra Wood. You aren't going to see too many of those in your lifetime.
  12. If the CS5000 really does have a low mass tonearm, the Denon might not be the best match for it. On paper anyway. You never really know until you try it. The Denon is supposed to sound best with High Mass arms. It is also a low output moving coil cartridge so you will need a preamp capable of handling it. Most common preamps can't handle moving coils. Personally, given how small the vinyl market is, I can't believe we have as many cartridge choices as we do. There are so many choices and so few people can possibly have heard more than a dozen for any length of time. I really like the Goldring line for the money. Grado's are very good but will hum on some tables. The Dynavector I have is awesome. I have a hard time not reccomending any of the cartridges you named. There's forum member, Mike Lindsey, used to have a CS5000. Hopefully, he'll chime in with what he was using.
  13. From Marantz, the 2270 is considered one of their better solid state recievers. But do check out the Harman Kardon 430, 630, 730 or 930 (from low to high power). They are a very nice match with Klipsch speakers.
  14. The auction is a scam. He says it's a 40 year old amp, yet pictured is the new MC275. These scammers are so dumb. The bidders are just having fun with him.
  15. I think Craig once shook his head in disbelief when I said my MX110 sounded similar to my Blueberry. Maybe not. Maybe it was that I couldn't tell the difference between CocaCola Can sized capacitors and regular pretty white and yellow ones.
  16. Yes, unfortunatley belts for old turntables are not something you're going pick up locally. Numerous online stores sell them. I've bought succesfully from the following stores over the years... http://www.lpgear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LG&Product_Code=TSL0230 http://www.turntableneedles.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=21502 http://www.elexatelier.com/technics.htm
  17. Whoa! I think I the saw the oak for my Belle in background of picture 12 through 16. Tom's a hell of a woodworker for sure.
  18. ... and here I thought you had to advertise with Stereophile to make the list. Congratulations Klipsch and JM.
  19. Those are 6" models. They look bigger. Mark, when you get your stands what are you going to do with your Belles?
  20. That's a new one. Appears this guy has created his own special fake Ebay site. That's not ebay you're going to when you click on the link. He must know that us stupido's post links on forums the world over. But we not so stupido today.
  21. Congratulations. If you've liked your Thorens 160, you should really like the Linn. The set up of the table is similar. The Thorens is actually a good table to own prior to the Linn. Much of the same maintainence and set up on those Thorens apply to the Linn. Does it have the Vahalla power supply? By the way, you can get a new dust cover direct from Linn for about $125.
  22. Something in this picture looks out of proportion. Did they squash the Khorns? Groovy room none-the-less.
  23. Nice looking table and arm. That is the "Improved" version so some might say the Denon is not the greatest of matches with that arm. The heavier, non-improved 3009 seems taylor made for the Denon. In any event, I have gotten great results with this exact tonearm and a Goldring 1042. That is what I use in my living room on a TD125 with 3009 II Improved arm. Wonderful combination.
