  1. Thanks for the link Bill, and I live in western suburbs of Chicago (DeKalb). So I really would like to find a nice R-117 because I've heard so much about them, but actually never really heard one myself. As I recall, didn't you have one a few years back? I believe you had some really nice words to say. How would you sum up the sound? My current systems are all basically vintage, and I like that. HK 730,Luxman R-1070 and an Adcom pre, working with an old Crown DC300A II. So again, if you have a R117, or hear about one someone might be letting go, let me know.
  2. ^^I agree.^^ Hopefully Lyle can make it down for one of those famous Chicago Get-Togethers. dee.
  3. I am looking for a Luxman R-117 or R-115 receiver to replace my old HK 730. I've always had the desire to try one of these receivers, and now I have a real, genuine need (or excuse). If anyone has one they are considering letting go, or can give me some direction to find one, please let me know. Thanks, dee.
  4. I have for sale a two year old Apple iPhone 6, running iOS 10.3.2. It has 64 gigabytes of storage and comes with all original accessories, including box, charger with cord, and ear pods. It has worked perfectly for me the past two years and has never been repaired. Screen and back do not have cracks or scratches. It is set up to be used on the Verizon network. The phone has a slight, bend below the volume button, not affecting performance. Look closely at the pictures, I had a bad habit of carrying it in my back pocket. I am hoping to get $150 plus shipping. PM me with additional questions and extra photos if needed. Boxed and packed ready to ship. dwillie
  5. You are welcome!! A happy son,...makes a happy Dad!! dwillie.
  6. I bought a 100' high speed Ethernet cable from Mono Price and was completely satisfied. Can't remember the cost, but it was so low I was very surprised. I needed to hard wire a desk top PC in the basement, and router was on the top floor. Works great. d.
  7. They are on their way! Chicago to Detroit = Monday. d.
  8. I have a brand new pair of the plastic version available. I have been saving them forever thinking someday I'd have a use for them. They would be a gift for your veteran son. PM me your address and I'll send them out. If you don't use them, send them back. d.

  10. Fender Tweed is actually a heavy cloth, and not a vinyl. It is very durable and can last many years, although it stains easily and if abused, starts showing random threads unraveling. In the old days, Fender would cover the tweed with a shellac or lacquer to protect it, and it would turn to a glowing amber color as time went on. To a vintage amp collector, this is a thing of beauty. Here's an example (not mine) of an amp I had back in the 1970's. Wish I still had it. Good examples (not necessarily mint), are still worth thousands of dollars today. d.

    DONE

I wanted to say thanks to Don Falcon. I received the AL-3 pair of crossovers today and they look very nice. Super clean and in great shape. They were packed well and delivery was fast. Thanks Don. dee
  12. Anyone near Rayne Louisiana who could pick up a pair of Klipsch crossovers for me? I don't want to cause a big inconvenience, but if you're near the area, and would be willing, let me know. Thanks very much. dwillie

    Car Thread

^^^^^^^!! Many years ago I too had a "Woody" Country Squire. Wish I still had it. It would positively float down the freeway at an unstoppable speed. Actually attracted a lot of attention and comments (???). It carried the nickname, "Bulbous".
  15. Leslie's can draw a pretty good price if they are in reasonable shape. They can be rebuilt to "like new" and are in demand, especially if they are the old mahogany box type. HDBR is right on! "Whiter Shade of Pale" is a good example. Also the Deep Purple classic................"Smoke On The Water" Ha Ha!
  16. I am anxious to hear what you will be asking for these. They look very nice and I have the perfect use for them. As an aside, is that same grill cloth still available? Anyone know? Thanks, dee.
  17. Hello Jeff. I have sent you a personal message. Thanks, dee.
  18. As long as we're bringing motorcycles into the discussion, here's my contribution. I've had a few before and since, but this has always been my favorite. 2004 BMW K1200LT. Good power and lighter than it looks. It had plenty of room to carry everything you would need. Maintenance costs were kind of high when it had to go to the dealer, but most things I could do myself. I rode my first two Iron Butt runs on this one. dee.
  19. Asking for a bit of guidance here, thanks in advance. I know very little about Klipsch Reference Series speakers, as I've always been hooked on what we are calling Heritage these days. I am in need of some small bookshelf speakers for an auxiliary system in the kitchen. I have an opportunity to buy a pair of R-14M or a pair of RB-10. Both I assume are black in color, no special veneer, and both have 4" woofers. Haven't heard either of the two models. Anyone care to give me an opinion? Thanks again, dee.
  20. Can't find where Old Red is selling the Adcom. Anyone help me find it? d.
  21. Thanks for all the help and opinions. Thanks too for the loan offer on the crimper tool and cable tester, but I think I'll go with installed ends. It will be an easy run along the basement ceiling and up through the same opening as the TV cable. This is what I think I will try. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=2329&gclid=CPKHns222MsCFQMQaQodJZ0DZA Not much to lose at that price. I have always heard good things about Monoprice on this site. Thanks again, dwillie.
  22. I did want the connectors on each end for the convenience. Just kind of surprised that any 100 foot cable with connectors would be less than $15.00. Thanks for the advice.
