  1. HA!!! I picked up a Martin d45 that's in great shape at a yard sale for $15. I don't play but thought it just HAD to be worth more then $15... I WAS going to give it to a friend as a gift... maybe I'd be better off snapping some PICs and seeing what I can fetch at ebay...

    HDTV - WOW!

    Only around till 02/28 with my Cable Provider - I guess it is just a promo with the Olympics. I might be alone, but I hope Comcast either assigns UHD it's own channel or drops it...While it's fine for viewing some of the Olympic action, I would much rather have my INHD2 return.... along with all of the HD concerts and other programming like "GO!" and "The Twilight Zone"
  3. I no fan of pipe organ music so I'm just wondering... excuse my ignorance but how much of that music form is expressed in the lowest of low freq? most, alot, quite a bit, etc...{EDIT: Dang.... I think I need to start reading the entire thread before I make a post. screw my curiosity, I want no part nof this pissin match [:|] }

    Heck, when I first got mine, I lost untold hours of sleep as I would find myself sitting up way past bedtime watching whatever HD programing that was on... I even watched "Tour DeGourge" LOL

    ? my wife came with no such MSDS ? btw, there may well be an error in the "arguement" chart... I've been married for almost 17 years and have NEVER come close to those percentages, and still I try []
  7. the four polk monitors that I use in my "mens-club-home-theatre" (small h on purpose, lol) have passive radiators as does my old Klipsch SW-10... the system Rocks the small room with plenty of bass... for my ear at least.
  8. I would say, "sure... depending on the depth measurement of the top of the TV set" you seem to have found the fatal flaw in far to many stands... no room for a 'real' center... the reason that after looking at about 50 stands in person and well over 1,000 PICs on the web, I decided to build my own.
  9. dang, 2-3 hrs should be able to include Pittsburgh/Harrisburg & metro DC
  10. No, the RW-8, RW-10 & RW-12s have their ports on the front I was refering to the floorstanders, like the RF-7's. sorry, my bad Dr... btw, I'm just wondering... why all the bother with insuring that the mains are flush with the front wall? unless your dead set on Hiding them, seems to me that you would want them to be about the same distance from your listening position as the center is... just spread them out about 8'-9' apart and draw an arc through them. either that or you could just go with RB-7s as they are front ported and quite capable to handle your room size to me
  11. I'm not into the whole glass thing so I built mine myself...
  12. uh, yea... like I said, I commend you.I was just adding that the LFE in movies and lots of new music make demands on a sub that will highlight the superiority of the new Sub12 to his old SW12.
  13. by far and away the best 'free' tweak I ever make to improve the sound of my system is to reserve any 'critical' listening for those times when my wife is out of the house... I'm not sure how, but it really eliminates a very annoying screeching sound that I otherwise experiance when listening at levels above those of normal conversation
  14. No, the RW-8, RW-10 & RW-12s have their ports on the front
  15. It always seems to be far to easy to tell other folks how to spend their money and I commend you for being the lone 'frugal' voice... Heck, I have yet to drop a dime on replacing my near 13 year old SW10 II on a new sub myself. I recommended to him to from my own experiance that the new Sub 12 is a better sub for movies and bass heavy music then his current SW12 II, let alone my old SW10 II. 16. of-course they CAN... I CAN run too, it just takes a lot of effort.
  17. Even though I wasn't on a bike, or even behind the wheel of my dream car, I have been lucky enough to have found myself on the 'Dragon's Tail' Rd. several times and enjoyed it tremendously... my passangers at the would probably not agree, LOL
  18. I didn't get to see it all because I was back and forth between the Grammys and another program... but have recorded it on my DVR and will watch some more tonight. From what I did see, I think the Gorillaz with Madonna AbsoFREAKINlutely ROCKED!! and as huge a U2 fan as I am, I thought their performance of Vertigo was weak and the Mary J Blige/U2 ONE performance was just so-so. I'm no fan of Kelly Clarkson but thought she did very good.
  19. I too have come across that BS site selling 'white-van' speakers....
  20. 2. well, if the answer is Not the Piccolo... I'll tell you first hand that a hard hit Snare Drum is one loud SOB! btw, my second guess would be a Bass Drum, which can be louder then a shotgun when hit hard... Then again, the Flute is pretty damn loud too...
