  1. Is there anyone in the Western New York area that has a set of these ? Buffalo, Nisagara Falls, Rochester Colden etc....
  2. Also... any idea on a price ???
  3. Has anyone painted their 402 horn ? I have read where some talked about it but that's as far as it went....
  4. Joe, 10,000 WOW... how did you get so many so fast ? I thought I just about cleaned you out. How has your taste in music changed ?
  5. Thanks for the site. I checked it out but wouldn't you know, they don't have tweak recmmendations for my model. I really have the 46" but all I saw listed was the 50". So I check it out and there were no tweak recommendations for it either. It was a nice try though! Try www.avsforum.com
  6. I also noticed that with my 252..... Try walking closer to the speakers. When I did I got very close and when I did the sound centered itself... strange.
  7. Like the Romans did ....Entertain the people... feed them .... then do what you want. Give me my beer, pizza and the Superbowl... The politicians will look out for my well being.... McIntosh might be assembled here, Klipsch ...Heritage only, Isn't the rest of the stuff made overseas China ???? We should all try very hard to buy American and get tarrifs put on cheap imports supported by other governments. .... the meds are kicking in again... bye
  8. Too true,,,but at the expense of American workers?? So it's better for the Mexican workers to go without jobs? Or pick any country of your choice... I simply can't agree with the notion that someone is better or more qualified based on where they live, or where they were born. So then everyone should sell everything and give to everyone ??? If we don't take care of our own who will >>> Mexico ? China ? Japan ? Add "Once upon a time "
  9. Tough room.... but I read the reply to his question.... no answer would have been better than a smart a## one. Also I have tried to do a search here and to tell the truth the search feature can be diffcult to use at times and the results not that great. Just an observation... I do not mean to get anyone upset .....
  10. We get something for all this.... THEY BURN OUR FLAG IN THE STREETS why doesn't someone care about that??? It is a same... I heard up to 200,000 dead. On the networks I keep seeing the same scenes... the same person washing their hands with bottled water. You would think they could show other areas of the city... other rescue efforts. Our prayers go out to them all
  11. If you mix lacquer thinner and denatured alcohol in a 50/50 mixture you will get a much cheaper version of Formby's that does the same thing. It will take off as little or as much of the finish as you want. Use 00 steel wool and rub in the direction of the grain.Herb Good suggestion on the mix..... I would like to add ... instead of steel wool I have used a synthetic pad that looks like a scotchbrite pad. I was warned about steel wool leaving small pieces behind that might be missed and then could stain the wood. I don't know the name of the pads, I think 3M makes them. Theycomes in different colors which denote the amount of material they removes ( white, green and brown ). They work great for me and last a long time.
  12. I agree with Richard if you have not bought any parts. Also I have a pair of Belles that I added Al's upgrades to with a Beyma tweeter and they sounded like new speakers. A lot more open. more detail. Could use other terms that would be correct but not really say anything... sooo All I can say is that the upgrades put a smile on my face.....
  13. I have used Formby's Furniture Refinisher. on other lacquer finishes, clean it then oiled with either Watco or Minwax Antique Oil Finish with good results. The gloss depends on how many coats you put on. Formby's did not remove a lot of stain so you could just oil when you are done. For detailed directions you can check either the Formby's or Minwax web site.
  14. Cut, if I'm not mistaken, those ranges are of the fundamentals of the lowest and highest notes those instruments can play. I don't believe those ranges would include overtones. The first overtone of, say, a 4,000-Hz note would be 8,000, the second would be 12,000 and the third would be 16,000. Things would be extremely dull and instrumental tones very homogenized without those overtones! As an added comment, cymbals (as pointed out above) and triangles are two instruments with a very big high overtone load, and I'm pretty sure that their top Hz's go well above my hearing and yours. They are instruments of "indefinite pitch", so I believe those high tones are a mass of complexity that stress amps and cartridges to a high degree. Didn't we get this same line of crap when they told us CD's are better..... sampling rate is good enough...
  15. How about the McIntosh MEN220 ????
  16. Check out this site.... http://kantack.com/surround/surround2.html
  17. If you move away from the titanium diaphragm, to a phenolic, you will have to go to a three way.I know that Dennis indicated it would be hard to beat for the price. Bruce Hard to beat what ? the K69 ? How about something with a magnesium diaphram ?
  18. OK... What would be a better driver ??? that does not cost an arm and leg.
  19. The Dx38 sampling rate is 48 KHz/channel, but its resolution is 24 bits/channel. Richard (Coytee) is correct in saying that the Dx38 accepts analog inputs and produces analog outputs. So you can think of it as a good, reconfigurable crossover network, except that it does more than a passive crossover does - like it can correct for driver delays introduced by path length differences (usually the bass drivers, but it can be any driver) and speaker room placement delays, can compress or expand the source signal. Chris I understand the workings... analog in analog out... but the sample rate has an effect on the sound. Or else they would not sell many high end CD's or DAC's or have lossless formats like flac for converting analog to digital so I guess my question is at what point will you hear a difference ? When you sample something you do just that... sample.... pieces are missing. How many can you miss without hearing a difference.
  20. I have a question... The sampling rate, bits (24) seem to be less than some cd players / DAC's for computer out put. How does this effect the sound ...? Are the higher end players and DAC's a waste of money using this unit ? It being just before the amps. Or am I completely wrong in my thinking
  21. Plastic is what changes with age. Look at how brittle car parts get ( dash parts, door panels ) tabs break off when you try to remove them Vinyl siding gets brittle in a short time.
  22. http://skrastins.com/beararms.html Just some comments on choosing other calibers... and options ( as sights)
  23. but you use the same cleaner on all windows...
