  1. Cats are great. Fix 'em and keep 'em in doors, preferably. They prefer jazz and classical music.
  2. Hmmm. ABBA's Greatest Hits. I don't have that one. ;-)
  3. Big believer in protective gear, but don't give helmets more credit than they are due, or compare them to seat belts. (rant) MHL (mandatory helmet laws) have been PROVEN to reduce the number of motorcyclists' deaths attributed to head injuries... but not deaths. Why? The coroner works from the top down. Skull crushed? Death by head injury. Skull OK (helmet maybe), work your way down. When motorcyclists' deaths go down from head injury, they go up a corresponding number for deaths by broken neck and massive internal trauma. For bicyclists it's similar but different. MHL: Head injuries "MAY" go down, but broken collar bones and broken wrists decline by the same percentage. Cause? Fewer riders. By all means, wear a helmet when you ride. Just don't think it provides anything even CLOSE to the safety provided by seat belts and airbags in cars and trucks. (/rant) P.S. Get well in a hurry, Ben! And put a lid on it next time.
  4. I don't know. I'm kinda having second thoughts about coming. Everyone over at Audio Karma and Audio Asylum are all excited about these $50 speakers from Best Buy. If I were to replace my Cornwalls with these little speakers, and then convert all my LPs and CDs to 128kb files, I could free up enough room in my house for a sectional sofa. NOT!!!!!! Se ya'll Friday (although one of my son-in-laws -- the one without any Klipsch -- may be backing out)!
  5. I'll see all my Scottish kin at the Econo-Lodge (and Linda Lou's?).
  6. Because it's the hops, it probably only take a few good IPAs (India Pale Ales) to achieve the desired effect, being as they have about 10X the hops that a Bud or Coors does (typical US beers).
  7. You could do something like this, using lugs instead of solder.
  8. Is the "Listing Room" like the old Magnetic House at (IIRC) Hot Springs (or the Casa Magnetica at the original Six Flags Over Texas or Casa Loca at Freedomland)?
  9. Is the "balancing network" still different for the EU market (as opposed to the NA market)?
  10. Technically, I think they fall more under the "Pharisee" category, but they do twist things enough that the result is about the same. Spong, et al: Decorator Heresy Robertson, et al: Industrial Heresy ...does that work? ;-)
  11. Percussion/World/Electronic/Groove/Trance/Sampling/Jump "Brian Eno and David Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts appears downright visionary. With its "found" vocals, cut-and-paste arrangements, funked-up rhythms and embrace of influences from all around the globe, the duo's controversial work anticipated the creative cross-pollination and technological innovation of contemporary dance music, world music, hip hop and alternative rock. You can hear echoes of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts in the anthems Moby built around vintage vocal samples, in the outrageously exotic beats of Missy Elliot and Timbaland, in the Middle Eastern accented chill-out tracks of Thievery Corporation or Bjork's otherworldly soundscapes." Audio CD (April 11, 2006) Format: Enhanced, Original recording remastered Label: Nonesuch ASIN: B000E5N634
  12. ...then you might like this.
  13. Greetings to another refugee looking for some good audio karma (if not asylum)! ;-)
  14. Welcome to forums. Glad to see the "Klipsch Klubhouse" has caused some cross-pollenization!
  15. Anyone selling heresies? Hmmm. Dan Brown. Marcus Borg. John Shelby Spong. The Jesus Seminar. A bunch of others. Ohhhhhh! Speakers! That's different. Never mind.
  16. "How about the same info on CWO 32X348 and 32X349?" Oiled Walnut, 1982. Cornwall I, IIRC.
  17. "What is a good price?" Depends on if you are selling or buying. $300 was a good price for my Cornwalls (buying). $900 would be a good price for my Cornwalls (selling).
  18. Work: Six Sonatas for Oboe and Bassoon Genre: Classical (late Baroque) Composer: Jan Dismas Zelenka Performer: Danny Bond, Robert Kohnen, et al.Label: Accent RecordsAudio CD Number of Discs: 2ASIN: B00000442N Oboes and Bassoons seem a nutural for horn-loaded speakers. This is a wonderfully lively performance of some of the delightful work of the sorely neglected composer Zelenka, "The Bohemian Bach".
  19. The LP rack looks like it came from the old Inner Sanctum. Now I'm even more sorry that I couldn't make it down! :-( Oh well, there's always Hope.
  20. I join with Ken in praying for his wife and son. And Dean, I offer thanks for your concern and courage. May the faithful departed rest in light eternal.
  21. This seems to bring back memories, but I can't be sure. The Airplane, the Elevators, the Dead, Beefheart, Fairport, Little Feat, watching the Summer of Love crash and burn as it shifted to coke and meth... ...and a war. But what a long strange trip it's been. By the Grace of God I survived it (and that's the only reason I can think of), with some good memories to balance it.
