  1. They are pretty close but maybe centered on the space between the horns and the woofers on the RP-160Ms would be a bit better. Bill
  2. @Njpurvis28, Welcome to the forum. My first outboard amp was a B&K Reference 4430 and I used it to drive my RF-63s/RC-64 LCR. Liked the combo so much I added an EX4420 to drive the pair of 63s while the REF 4430 powered the RC-64 and surrounds. Eventually moved on to Acurus but my time with B&K was very enjoyable. Also owned a couple of PT-3 preamp/tuners and they were rock solid as well. B&K uses(used) mosfet outboard transistors which tend to add a "warmness" to the presentation where bipolar transistors are a bit more transparent. I don't think they were a big player in the business and got pushed aside when the likes of less expensive Emotiva, Outlaw Audio, etc. solidified their market share. Hard to compete with the internet direct companies when they(B&K) rely on a network of dealers to peddle their goods. B&K build quality was never an issue as well as their product support. They may have just lost their way. ATI scooped them up but don't think they really supported them the way they deserved. Bill
  3. True, nothing to lose but time to do it. On the other hand, move the RF-62s to another room for a banging stereo rig. They are very capable speakers for 2 channel and HT. Bill
  4. You will never get that rich beautiful natural cherry look. Clear coated natural cherry is just plain beautiful that gets more beautiful as it ages. Bill
  5. That is the first thing I zeroed in on. Bill
  6. Seriously. Come on folks take the plunge on some serious grunt. If you have never owned an outboard amp, then this is a great place to start. Bill
  7. That is plenty of room for the ports to breathe with those speakers. Now if we were talking the RP-8000F floorstanders, then yes 10cm might be a bit too close to the wall. Bill
  8. See if mods can delete this thread and just have the one in the 2 Channel Forum. Bill
  9. Truthfully, the only way to know which you like better is to try it out in different configurations. It's not just about the DAC chip and implementation but also about the analog stages and other factors. My Yamaha CD-S1000 has the PCM1796(192kHz/24bit) which is +/- 95% same as the PCM1795 but with 24bit vs 32bit. Bill
  10. Never owned or heard the Yamaha A-S801 but have read really good things about it. Though they are similar but in a different line of Yamaha integrated amps, the A-S1000(all analog) that I own pairs very well with all speakers(RB-75, RF-63, Heresy 1, Heresy 2) I have demoed with. Very neutral "natural" presentation with gobs of grunt and very balanced top to bottom. If I were to bet, the 801 will mate very well with the Cornwall 1s. On the other hand, since you already have a nice DAC, look for one of their analog integrated amps(A-S1000, A-S2000, A-S1100, etc). Bill
  11. Time for another bump. Folks, these are great gear and priced to sell. Pull that trigger. Bill
  12. Someone take possession of these please. Rock solid performers with thump and detail. Great price for the pair. Bill
  13. @Cornwill Is, Welcome to the forum. At 41 years, no doubt the crossover capacitors need replacing. You will not "need" to replace the entire crossovers to hear an improvement. Bill
  14. Man oh man. Nice rig. A pair of A150s were my intro to Acurus. It started an obsession with the brand that is still alive today. Love to have them but real priorities in these crazy times must win out. Good luck with your sale. Bill
  15. @ChrisK, Very sorry to hear about this. Prayers for you and his family. Bill
  16. @FrankLepore, Welcome to the forum. So are my RF-63s and RC-64 and I have found no reason to go newer. Your decision with the RP-280FA/RP-450C combo should be pretty solid. You do know that the RP-280FAs are Atmos enabled and Atmos and surround sound go hand in hand? Action movies will be on the dull side without a subwoofer. With that said, I usually suggest at minimum an upper midlevel AVR with multichannel preouts for possible future outboard amplification. https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/marsr6013/marantz-sr6013-9.2-ch-x-110-watts-a/v-receiver-w/heos/1.html Bill
  17. If that little guy did take refuge in your subwoofer, a little demo of "Flight of the Phoenix" should take care of that problem. Bill
  18. Yes, here. https://www.klipsch.com/products/rc-52#product-specs Bill
  19. This Marantz pair if you want to go semi-separates. https://hifiheaven.net/shop/Marantz-PM6006-Integrated-Amplifier-with-Digital-Input https://hifiheaven.net/shop/Products/DACs-iPod-Docks-Digital-Audio-Players-USB-Converters/Network-Digital-Audio-Players/Marantz-NA6005-Network-Player-DSD-DAC?limit=100 Bill
  20. I bet that NAD is nice and am very fond of NAD gear, but I really don't think you "need" to spend anywhere close to that amount to get quality sound and feature set. This Yamaha network stereo receiver gets very high praise for sound quality, feature set, and affordability. https://www.adorama.com/ymrn803bl.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImLiP5tHk7gIVRcyzCh2-fA1aEAQYBCABEgJHE_D_BwE&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImLiP5tHk7gIVRcyzCh2-fA1aEAQYBCABEgJHE_D_BwE&utm_source=adl-gbase-p Bill
  21. I have a preamp processor now but when I was using an Onkyo and then NAD AVR, no changes in the settings were required to activate the preamp section. Denon AVRs may be different. Bill
  22. @LyleS has not posted in close to 2 years so I will give it a shot. I have owned many Acurus amps(A100, A100x3, A150, A150, A200, A200, A200x3, 200x3, A250, A250, 200FIVE, 200FIVE), over the last 10 or so years and have been very pleased with their performance and reliability. Cool running, great bass drive, very detailed. I have used them for stereo playback as well as currently using an Acurus A200/A200x3/NAD T175HD combo with my RF-63/RC-64/RS-35s combo. No reason to change a thing anytime soon. That Acurus A125x5/Denon X4700 combo should bring you much joy. Bill
