  1. You couldn't make that statement if you used them for HT. I'll bet they sound awesome for 2 ch though. I'm pretty sure this is the 2 channel forum so HT has zero to do with it. I gave that mess up years ago. All it took was one get together with a bunch of grown men obsessing over an animated fish on the TV screen to make me realize it was just plain silly Maybe play Rush, Moving Pictures in Blue Ray Audio. This will no doubt remove a little of that 2 channel HWY only outlook and you wont even have to turn on that pesky TV
  2. I always figured I would pick up an Oppo 103 and call it a day. Now Im being tempted from the Denon and Marantz refurbs for $150+ less. Its looking like D&M is using the same components for both the Marantz and Denon offering and I believe they both are getting good marks from what I have seen. The Oppo has a full array of Analog outs which will need different and larger circuit boards, but man, they sure look a LOT different. Anyone want to chime in on this? Thanks guys Marantz UD-5007 $320 Denon DBT 1713 $350 Oppo 103 I figured I would throw the 105 in there just for comparison, but it is out of my price range Oppo 105
  3. I tried the XPA-5 and in 10 minutes of use figured out the noise floor was too much to deal with my LS's and I really couldn't hear an improvement in SQ over my Receiver. I then had a friend bring over his Rotel 1075 which had a little less power and the idle hiss was much less, but in that instance I figured out the first 3 watts of power was more important to me than the last 100+ or so. I guess Im getting old
  4. I know you said you didnt want a changer, but for $69 and a 1 year authorized warranty, it may not get better than this. I think they play SACD's too Just checked and it doesnt play them. Oh well. http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/DENDCM290/DENON-DCM-290-CD/CD-R/RW-5-Disc-Changer/1.html
  5. Who doesnt like these video's? Poor IPAD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPZtlhv3Scs
  6. Wow, that is cool ! Thanks for sharing. Hello, meet my 275lb center channel
  7. A true Frankenstein build. Maybe C type X overs from very old Heresy's? 40-50 year old West Caps ? I must say, visually they dont look half bad.
  8. I've been down this road. Something is only worth what someone will pay. Just because you wouldn't pay it and I may not pay it doesn't mean no one else will. I've discovered that other peoples price points are not my business. If I don't want to pay it I just move on. Indeed Philly and as the old saying goes there is a sucker born everyday You can shear a Sheep over and over, but you can only slaughter it once. Besides, a lot of those listings have been parked on Ebay with unrealistic prices for quite some time.

    p-39f cost

Kind of ironic that Klipsch's flagship line is not fully horn loaded. Not that I would expect it to be in such a narrow package with a better low frequency range. I have never heard any of the Palladium line, but what gives? Lots of owners here marveling over them, but what makes them so unique? They still have a Titanium Tweeter and an Aluminum diaphragm mid. On top of that the mid horn seems small and just a polished up KLF style tractrix mid. How can the imaging and smooth delivery match the larger deeper 401 mid horn on an old school Heritage offering? I dont see how it would be physically possible for a set of the P-39's to take on a set of properly set up Jubs, Khorns or even home built Cornscala's and the majority of listeners saying otherwise. Maybe Im way off the mark here, but can someone enlighten me into what we are missing other than 8K worth of Zebra wood veneer. Please pass some of that Kool-aid to this grumpy old man []
  11. Yes, you will hear a difference between a Yamaha and a Denon on Klipsch speakers. These are not just amps, they have preamp sections which vary drastically and they each have their own sound signature. The Marantz and Denon, I don't know, they probably sound a lot a like since they are the same company. All you need to do is search these forums and you'll have people saying over and over again for the past 13 years that Harman Kardon is one of the best sounding AVRs for Klipsch when it comes to music. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink. Most people would rather buy an AVR rated at 150 watts with all the bells and whistles than an AVR rated at 80 watts no matter how many people on a forum tell them the lower rated HK has more power and sounds better. Well that's solved
  12. Looking at upper models from all three of these, I doubt the majority here could distinguish the sound between any three given equal and constant levels. I think you will do well with any of the three, but if there was a obvious sound quality difference, the folks here would know it and it would be what all Klipsch owners bought when it came to AVR's. As far as bench tests go, Denon is usually on top when it comes to SNR's, channel separation, THD, etc. Once again, I know my ears couldnt tell the difference. Just get an upper end model and I think you will be happy, If not, score you a quality amp to plug in to it and call it a day.
  13. Closest match I have heard to a CW would be a either of the Chorus models or the KLF-30. Even then, turn them up, stand back a ways and tell me which one has bass that hits you in the chest....[] although, that may not be the sound you are after. I sure miss my CW II's
  14. Looks like they have been relisted from a no sale !
  15. I try to make my rounds[] I was worried that there was a section just for links or non-member adds. If they are forum members speaks, I didnt see the add here and my apologies. I posted them quickly because they really looked mint and several hundreds too cheap IMO. A West Coast forum member deserves these!
  16. Not mine, but they look like a good score for someone that lives out West. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-La-Scala-INDUSTRIAL-Splits-LSI-RARE-and-Highly-Sought-Sound-Awesome-/281147237981?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4175ae665d
  17. Florida is saturated with used Klipsch. They're basically selling them on the side of the road!
  18. I understand. Good luck with the sale, these should sell quick.
  19. Any trades plus cash? I have a set of Chorus I's in original WO finish that I cant bring myself to paint black to match my others. I miss my old CW II's. It sound like you are downsizing to a bookshelf size though. BTW, Im in central AR
  20. Thats too cheap for composite mid LS's with AL-3's. Dont worry they wont stick around long.
  21. Looks like African Mahogany. Maybe someone knows where Klipsch was sourcing their veneers during the build date.
  22. Its not a concert, but MOVING PICTURES (RUSH) on bluray sounds incredible in Master DTS HD Just noticed you can pick it up with a 2112 combo!
  23. Geez. Always nice seeing a new member getting choached by a few ugly's. IMO I wouldnt pay over $750 for those listed even if they checked out in all apsects. A painted speak alone brings the value down. Unknown cap and X-over mods could be red flags as well. Cornwall 1's $600-$1000 tops Cornwall 2's $1000-$1200 tops
