  1. That was $10 total handling cost. So in this case 14.00 each, now that would be better looking at it this way, this time, anyway.
  2. I called Crown Technical department. The gain pots are 20Kohm 31 detent type and sell for $11.50 each. Add 10.00 handling and 8.00 shipping and the whole cost will be $64.00. Looks like easy soldering and a tad of heat shrink to complete the job. Crown Stock number is 10000-5. Looks like Crown potentiometers are the way to go. A guy from Alabama had placed them on EBAY only 9 hours previous to my "Buy it now" action. He had three, but I only needed two. The four digit manufacture age code is 9077. Which either means July 1997 or July 2007.
  3. Amps look great. However, they both need new gain pots. I'll call Crown in the morning, but are there any recommended non Crown bought pots available? Anybody changed out their pots? What were your replacements? And what did they cost? Thanks, Wrinkles
  4. Always interested in horn excursions. Free most any Saturday.
  5. http://hhscott.com/receiver.htm Scroll down a little way.
  6. Amy, While we are talking about the website.... Where are the ballcaps, T-shirts, beer glasses, sweat shirts, etc. sporting the Klipsch logo? Did I miss it? Thanks
  7. Wife's family from Boston...so Bruins But, what a 1st game on the ice the other night!
  8. Now thats nice! Great job and great decision on the veneer. That will look great in any room setup. I am sure the sound is awesome.
  9. Lets see... Winter retirement home in Florida when you get old and cranky [:$] Summer retirement home in Tenn. Best of both worlds? Also, Florida has no state income tax and great firearms laws. Thats the way it was in 1982 anyway.
  10. If you expect the worse, then prepare for the worse. If the moving company is going to move them, whatever method of protection you use, then I would take tons of pictures of my packing process in case they fault you for poor packing methods due to a damage situation. Good Luck on your move and your stay in New Jersey.
  11. Welcome THXAUDIO, I have posted a link to a JubScala thread that shows different setups and sizes. I have the JubScala setup. There is no turning back once you hear the K402 horn setup. (My opinion only, well maybe a few others too!) http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/120876/1218713.aspx#1218713 Wrinkles
  12. A quick read on soldering and desoldering techniques: http://www.uky.edu/~kdbrad2/Soldering_Desoldering.pdf
  13. fini, Another model is the soldapulit http://www.partsconnexion.com/tools-53660img.html I have used this for over 30 years. Teflon tip is replaceable should you melt it. I think I have replaced one tip in that thirty years. It comes apart to grease an oring that creates a seal when drawing the rquired vacuum. Only need to do this when it stops drawing the vacuum, easy twist and turn. They are $19.95 at parts express. The other models listed in this thread I have not used and I am sure are probably very capable. This is my 2 cents.
  14. Congratulations Mrtie. They are indeed marvelous speakers.
  15. Uh don't think so. Maybe you meant fishing? That makes more sense. I can usually tell when someone near me has been fishin.
  16. Bad day indeed. When you start measuring Cesium outside the power plant, this is not a good sign. Cesium is a byproduct of fission. Usually it stays within the fuel bundles. Extreme heat will cause the cladding around the fuel bundles to melt away releasing the Cesium and other radioactive particles (kinda like TMI). It will be reported exactly how much damage actually occurred in a few days. Kinda hard to keep a radioactive release mum.
  17. Looking good Gothover. I placed my pair on top of a pair of Dahlquist DQ-1W subwoofers for years. Also, replaced the top 2 tweeters with an infininty ribbon. Fun inefficient speakers! I use to peg the meters on my Audio Research D79 amplifier on occasion. The thing I felt about the DQ-10s was that at low volume they sounded great. At high volume they really danced. Wrinkles
  18. Mike, Rudy or anyone with experience, Most everyone is familiar with the Crown D series amps. The Hafler studio series TA-1100/1600A models have very simlar specs as the Crown D40A/75A models but considerably less costly. Are there any opinions of this particular series versus the Crown D models. Any hiss isues, quality issues, known comparisons, etc. They are "fan free", convection cooled. http://www.hafler.com/techsupport/index.asp?ID=3 Thanks, Wrinkles
  19. Nice Accident Lyons! There is just something about the immediacy of the bass through LaScalas. At one time I changed out the LaScala bass bins for a pair of the EV Sentry IVA bass bins and loved the lower bass for a few weeks. Then realized what I was missing. Back in went the LaScala bass bins. Your LaScalas look great!
  20. kg4guy, I'd like to know how it worked out. I almost bought a pair of FH1s years ago when I was looking at the JubScala setups so as to lower the K402 horn alittle, but went with my LaScalas instead as not any FH1s were found. The FH1s are purported to be built stronger and have tighter bass. I do not believe it goes any lower in frequency response. I did try the Electrovoice TL5050 bass cabinet of the Sentry IV model and even though it goes lower, I found the bass not as tight as from the the LaScala bass bin. So, eventually I went back to the LaScala. What kind of price did you give for your FH1 speakers?
  21. I do NOT have subs on my 2 Channel JubScala system. I DO have a sub on my 2 CHannel Home theater LaScala system.
  22. SSnyder, Here is a great link within the Klipsch Forum that has information and pictures of the various JubScala setups. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/120876/1218713.aspx#1218713 Wrinkles
  23. Josh, The Leo Kottke album you mentioned, was it a Leo Kottke Christmas Album or a Kottke favorite of yours you like play at Christmas? I have alot of Kottke albums and never ran across a Christmas Album. Thanks, Wrinkles
