  1. Hey Dave, I can echo what everybody else have said, outstanding job on your Scalas and THTLP subs! Personally doing this restoration should give a high level of pride of ownership, which will make your system sound even better. 😎 Way to show that Canuck power. 👏👏
  2. Maybe we all would like to see another pair of "smurf" LSs. 🤔
  3. I would run an Orbital sander over the old glue and then your new gasket tape should stick, nice and flat.
  4. Well played @MMurg... Well played! CONGRATS 👍👍
  5. Hey Arron, A couple of years ago I was in the same spot as you and I chickened out, mainly because of the interior. I decided to stick with a very Industrial look... https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/193068-rags-to-riches/#comment-2517434 On my previous project, I went with a bit of a hybrid approach and veneered the exterior and painted the interior with Black Duratex... https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/193992-jub-peavey-for-sale/#comment-2529585 I have seen a few complete veneer jobs here on the forum, but I did not want to tackle those inner folds of the doghouse.
  6. Thanks Ya, I veneered all round in Tigerwood. But I also know how to do Walnut. 🤓 You are a very patient man, but I am sure the wait will be well worth it!!! 👍
  7. MM, Have the new Jubs sent to me without veneer and I will veneer them for you, while I break them in for you. 😎
  8. Nice Dave. We will all want to see pics once you get your LSs refinished!
  9. I don't think you have ever steered me wrong Claude! But I am sure that's what all us junkies think about their pushers. 😉
  10. I kind of figured that flush mount would be the optimal position. Is there any sonic preference between the wood version vs. the aluminium version? If not, I think the wooden version would be easier to paint black. I like the pro look as well, although mine did not start out as Industrials...
  11. Thanks for those pics guys! With the way I rounded my cabinets, and more specifically the horn openings, I am not sure how nice the SMAHLv2 lenses will look in my opening? Maybe if I was to pull the lens back a bit with something like a 1/2in spacer, it would keep to the look I have now? Or @ClaudeJ1 @Dave A might that compromise some of the sonic benefits of Dave's lens, not being flush with the front of the motherboard?
  12. Hey Dave, Do you have any pics of the front of your LSs showing Dave's lens in place? I have been thinking about ordering a pair for my rebuilt 1982 LSs.

Those are probably... not, quite close enough? 🤔 So now I want to hear your typical statement we all read for all these years when someone was selling something: "If they were closer, they would be mine!" Now that it's "free" I'm sure you'll find way now, won't you!
  14. As some might like to say, "This election... I mean draw, was stolen from me". Congrates Schu! 👍
  15. I just threw a hundy at the Museum so I could have a kick at these! If I was lucky enough to win, my road trip would be a hour or so longer than rplace, at a little over 18.5 hours.
  16. A few years ago I looked at the possibility of sourcing a pair of Unicorns... I mean, TADs and realized even if I could find a pair with original diaphragms that they would be much more than my bank manager would allow. More recently I considered the BMS 4592ND, but they are not exactly cheap, especially if you factor in another 2 channels of amplification. I have noticed at times PE has had the Axi2050 on sale ( I want to say at about $800 each), but these obviously would not have Roy's magic phase plug. So, it would be super cool in the future if Klipsch could be offering the Celestion as an upgrade for current K-691 (K-69) users?

    What I Got Today!

That was a Xmas present from my daughter, so I figured it deserved the first play. Very good sounding LP, as good as my CD of the Massey Hall Album. Which is also an Iconic venue, a must go to building to see a show if you ever get to Toronto!

    What I Got Today!

I did not get this today, but actually last October. But today is the first the TD 160 plated some hi quality music. My tech and I did a ton of work, most unexpected due to a very dishonest seller. 😮 And some of the work was upgrades and some was for cosmetics.
  19. What I might suggest is to buy some 1/2in Baltic Birch and laminate to the top, bottom and sides with PL and screws. Once you route the corners and edges with a flush trim bit, sand all these edges and fill the screw holes and sand you can then veneer. I like using a paper back veneer of your choice and Heat-Lock glue. As Michael said, your source for the veneer, glue, tools, and tutorials is: https://www.veneersupplies.com I have gone this route a couple of time with some very beat up cabinets, See this link for how these rough Peavey bass bins came back to life. https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649648769-klipsch-peavey-jub-peavey/ Your Corns will look great and sound better with the cabinets being 1.25in thick vs. .75in.
  20. Hey Geoff, Barrie, so you traded the sun set for sun rise, eh.
  21. Way to go Geoff!!! Michael tried to entice me to take them off his hands last Feb. but after I did similar measurements I could not see any way of getting the doubles in my basement. ☚ī¸ I think 🤔 I could shoehorn 4 singles down the stairs. But you know as well as I do how rare a pair of MWMs are up here, and especially singles. I might need to drive up and have a listen to the new garage set up, Tom

Very rare up here! Now if these were 4 singles vs the doubles, I would have already been down to KW and back.
  23. I am also running the K691s with my 402s and I am not disappointed with how things sound. I also have a pair of FAITAL PRO HF200 that are currently on the back of my idle K-510s. On my previous Tigerwood Jub-likes, I ran a different pair of HF200s and they also sounded pretty nice to my ears. Maybe Claude can comment on the Faitals in comaparison to the K691 / K69s and his previous TADs? As for the Celestion at PE, is it going to be the same exact driver that Roy will be utilizing in the new Jub? I just skimmed this new, to me video, and Cory at Paducah does talk about Roy adding a phase plug at the front of the driver to give a better dispersion of the high frequencies. Just like a pair of TADs the Celestion will need to wait for a small lottery win. 💰
  24. I am sure you guys have both seen that PE has these drivers on sale right now. https://www.parts-express.com/Celestion-Axi2050-AxiPerodic-2-Wide-Bandwidth-Compression-Driver-4-Bolt-294-2142 I would love to try a pair on my 402s, but that sale price just barely covers the Great White North exchange. ☚ī¸
  25. This is brutal, tromprof!!! But rest assured, once the 402s are replaced in one piece and you get them dialed in with your pies... you will be a happy camper! At least that is what Jackson Browne(and David Lindley) are telling me right now.
