  1. I agree completely. It's just a rambling thing. Adds to the count and that's about it.
  2. But weren't actually "used" in a Cornwall till over 2 decades later. And there was that CW III with the Heresy mid horns.
  3. Could order some of these and have them look about the same. Pretty much all they are using are generic terminals. Have you called Klipsch parts already? (not that theirs are going to sound any better there) https://www.parts-express.com/Gold-Dual-Binding-Post-091-335
  4. I've had 2 pairs of those in the past; the front ported 846B's and the "fancy cabinet" Milano's. I really never liked either pair and they were easy to sell to the followers. 2 pairs of Dynaco A25's "stacked" sounded better than the restricted range of them. But they look pretty cool.
  5. Not a bad deal, I guess, if one is so inclined. No affiliation or interest. https://fayar.craigslist.org/ele/d/springdale-klipsch-cornwall-iv-walnut/7431466415.html
  6. It's the disrespect towards someone who was definitely qualified that rubbed me wrong and, for that, I will not apologize. I guess it was an acceptable comment by him based on how he is being defended. Interesting.... I just don't agree.
  7. I stand by my comment. If you're good with what was said, that's all you, boo-boo. It was disrespectful on every level.
  8. That's one of the most idiotic things I've heard anyone say in a long time. If ANYONE would be qualified enough, it would have been him. Stop making stupid a$$ comments to add to your post count. My grandfather used to tell me, "it's better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. SMDH
  9. Maybe just post your email out here for him to contact you somehow.
  10. There's no doubt that they're both oak...
  11. A K-501 horn? Isn't that a Belle mid horn? I know the K-500 is but maybe the 501 never was in the Belle?
  12. Thank you for the input. As time and bravery allow, I'll go back in and check the power transformer wiring again. I've honestly been over it numerous times but there's always that chance. When I first started going through it, the PT had not been wired to anything so it made it easy to wire. However, I then started discovering where some things were reversed, wrong resistor values, etc., and it got tedious. If diagrams are followed, it's really hard to screw this amplifier up if a person takes their time. I had no issues when I built the VTA from a kit....but I had a hand in it from start to finish and didn't rush anything. Maybe I can tinker with it more on Thursday or Friday since I'll be off work for the Holidays. Just so I'm clear, which wires are the secondary? Here's what the underside looked like when I got it.
  13. My other option, if I can't find someone, is to order a new driver board and wiring, un-wire everything that's been done previously, then rewire everything and install the new driver board. Hell, for that matter, I could order all new resistors and replace the originals just to make sure. Why not start with a clean slate. At least if it doesn't work, I've only got myself to blame. I built a VTA ST-70 kit about 4 years ago, which I really enjoyed, and it worked like a champ. All I really had to do with it was check tube bias once in awhile.
  14. Chris did the repair work on a Mcintosh MC250 I had a couple years back and Arvel has worked on other things of mine. Arvel doesn't really mess with tube amps, or amps with MOSFETs (ha) and Chris isn't doing as much work now is what Arvel last told me. Seems like I asked him about it awhile back. I agree, though...Chris is one of the best out there.
  15. I’ve got a Dynakit ST-70 tube amp that I acquired in a group of equipment last summer that I’d like to get finished up. Does anyone know of any reputable techs in the Arkansas area that would be recommended? I may end up having to just ship it somewhere, which adds a good chunk since shipping has gone up so much, but that may have to happen. I'd like to get this working as it's a great looking amp with the cage. At the least, I'd like to be able to listen to it in the winter time since it can help heat the upstairs room. lol I'd posted on Audiokarma about doing some troubleshooting on it but I know my limitations with electronics and especially amps. The person I'd bought it from last summer was selling things off for his older brother, who was elderly and dementia was setting in and worsening. This amp is practically new looking and the power transformer was mounted but never wired up. Here is the thread at Audiokarma if you would like to see/read what had been going on. Thanks for any recommendations.
  16. These are very good all around units and I highly recommend them. I use a DS216J at home with a pair of 4TB drives and have now for about 4 years. We also use Synology in out racks for city storage, although on a much broader scale. There are 5 devices that use twelve 12TB drives in RAID 5 but we store tons of police video, etc. GLWS
  17. Here's a schematic for the trap filter I was going to use on my Belle clones....before I traded them off. This may, or may not, work on the La Scala, as it was designed for the AB-3 crossovers that never made it into the Belle. Not much money in parts to try, though.
  18. Dang....Long Beach? Too far of a drive for us guys in Arkansas! Great price! GLWS!
  19. It's an acquired taste to the LS and Belles and, apparently, the right signal chain combo. Kind-of picky. I've owned La Scalas and Klipschorns over the years and built a beautiful set of Belle inspired clones a few years back. I had a pair of the Epic CF-3's prior but sold them once I was done with the Belle build, regrettably. I just never warmed up to their sound and worked out a deal where I now have CF-3 version 1's and I'm completely satisfied. The Belle clones just didn't sound good upstairs in my music room and really had their limitations at our other house. I'd also had a pair of '78 Cornwalls and KLF-30's at the same time as the first pair of CF-3's and the first two were sold off. It's all personal preference, what works in any given room, and the signal chain as a whole that let's you decide what sounds best to you. At least in my humble opinion.
  20. No doubt. That was a great deal.
  21. I can agree with that. The point of diminishing returns with an input signal that is low-res definitely makes for not having to go with quite so revealing of a system. I'm sort of in that boat as I have tinnitus and upper HF hearing loss which saves me tons of money on higher end equipment that I can't hear the difference in. lol
  22. I'm not sure how crazy I would go on a system streaming band music from YouTube. Not sure that's much better than Spotify at 320kbps but I would bet more like 128 to 192kbps. I could be wrong. At that rate, I'd just use an 1/8" jack out of the computer to an amp and call it good. That's pretty poor audio quality. Like 1990's mp3 stuff.
