  1. I've been using a SR5015 for my TV room for the past 2 years with great success. It appears there have been comments on Audioholics that the Marantz has better SQ over the Integra. The older AV8802a is still a solid piece, unfortunately its still runs a premium on the used market. If I can get one from a reputable seller for under $1800, Id jump on it. Even a AV7702/3 would work.
  2. Never considered Sony, looks like theirs is 4k pass through with some upscale features. It appears that they have hdmi zone 2, which isn't real common as most I believe are parallel hdmi outputs.
  3. So, I found out this weekend that my Integra DTR 40.2 decided to quit putting out....audio that is. Though im not opposed to spending $1800.00 for something new, I'm just not sold. I've always wanted to try Arcam and Anthem and recently came across some deals I could afford. The first 2 really aren't deals, but within my price range. The Arcam AVR5 and Anthem MRX540. Both are Class A/B, but thats not selling point for the area that the DTR is currently in. I need pre outs which both have, however the Anthem has an output of something like 9vrms which is more than enough to drive any external amp where the Arcam is only 1. My local Arcam dealer has a B stock Arcam AVR10 for $1699.99, but neither of these 3 units have zone 2 line level out. Which brings me to my next option, I currently have a Marantz SR5015 in my living room that runs my Cornwall IVs and since I have always wanted to run class A/B amplifiers on these to scratch an itch, I figured spring for the Arcam and move it to the Cornwalls and use the Marantz on the main system as it has the Zone 2. The last option is an older Integra DHC-80.6 for around $1k on the used market. This has everything I want and good pre amp voltage. My only concern is how outdated it is specifically how well the 4k pass through is. In regards to 4k pass through, when it comes to AVRs or PRE/PROS, does 4k mean anything?
  4. "I don't know how many you people believe in astrology... Yeah, that's right...that's right, baby, I...I am a Sagittarius The most philosophical of all the signs But anyway, I don't believe in it I think it's a bunch of bullshit, myself But I tell you this, man, I tell you this I don't know what's gonna happen, man, but I wanna have My kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames Alright!"
  5. Nice job, you once helped me get a 2100 operational. Wish I had that and my 2505, both are great sounding amps.
  6. I follow a group Facebook that I believe is backed by GIK acoustics. Alot of folks on their wrap their complete panel with landscape fabric prior to wrapping with the finish fabric. Apparently, it has now effect on the way to absorb/control sound, but still blocks and air borne fibers.
  7. I answered this in the Home Theater sub forum with the idea of home theater multi channel in mind. If you want to run a center or quad for stereo, some older amps have speaker a and speaker b. There is a Dynaco device for this type of setup as well. For center, I believe PWK created something as well @OO1 maybe has insight. Lastly, some H.H. Scott integrated amps had a pre out for center channel.
  8. Awesome, just glad to hear the deal went through. We'll wait patiently.
  9. I don't see how you could go wrong. I have seen a couple of Cornwall IVs across the front 3. I'm running a set of Cornwall IVs for the L/R and single Heresy 1 as a center with great results.
  10. @jeff spicoli what's the word? Hopefully you've been enjoying some new speakers.
  11. Wow, not sure if it was the caps or loose connection, but this is the best the Heresy has sounded as a center channel, i even had to turn it down.
  12. No hot metal or melted enamel like smells. Maybe I'll just spring for a new one.
  13. Don't mind me, I just got a new soldering iron and this cool pad for Christmas and wanted to share.
  14. I'm in the process of replacing the Dayton 1% caps in my Heresy and I noticed a couple things. The first thing I noticed was that the input terminal scres were loose. I'm not sure how that affects the performance, but one might think it creates a poor connection, regardless I made sure they were tight. Second thing I noticed was this discoloration on one of the coils, so I thought I'd ask the pros here @JEM Performance @Deang, any thoughts? Is this ok or should it be replaced? Maybe hard to see, but it appears to be a blackish color. Thanks.
  15. Your sampling rate from Spotify to CD is probably better on CD than Spotify and why it sounds better. Not trying to turn this in which is better as I enjoy vinyl, CD, hi res downloads, and Spotify streaming. I've recently started ripping my CDs to my NAS and am enjoying them all over again as it is quite convenient. I will have to check these albums out. I'm sure the box set is nice, but if available on HDtracks, I catch myself purchasing from there first. Thanks for the recommendation.
  16. Have you tried the IVs yet? Much bigger mid horn with steep networks.
  17. I can't believe he's selling them. @seti would those Snails go lower with 18" drivers? Good luck with the sale.
  18. I stand corrected, my Heresy's are S code therefor they are 1978. Oddly, I have 3 Heresy's, 2 of them purchased 10 plus years from the third over 2000 miles apart with only 45 in-betweens, 59S610, 59S611, and 59S655. I can't believe they only made them for 2 years. Any idea when they switched from round k77 to square K77?
  19. My 81 Cornwalls had the copper. I always preferred the pie logo over anything else. I'll have to confirm when I get home.
  20. I was big on using Tapatalk, but since the update have switched to just using the browser version on my phone and it seems to work pretty well, even when adding photos.
  21. Did anyone catch the brand of amps? The TT looks like a Garrad 301/401.
