  1. Hey Guys: Just got back from the Outer Banks of N. C. great beaches and wild horse roaming the northern end....great week except that my AC died in the SUV and had to drive 16 hours in 95 degree heat ....how did our parents do it before AC? .
  2. Looks like a hut from smurfville ! Hi I'm audiophile smurf.....
  3. You will love the heresy!!! Congrats and welcome
  4. Thanks Russ....just the image I want stuck in my head.......[][][]
  5. It also happens to be my anniversary ....When we were picking dates, I this was one I wouldn't forget!!!!!
  6. One of these days I'll eat something other than chicken breast or grilled fish!!! [A][A][A] I went hog wild last night and had some watermelon!!!
  7. OK Roger....Just for you I got them cranked....thats when my wife starts with the nagging....... (duck, bob ,weave) good thing I'm light on my feet or I would have just gotten decked.....[][][][]
  8. I just wish the voices in my head would shut up for a few minutes !!!!
  9. Just for giggles....try sticking them in the corners......I have three sets of heresy's and my "spare" is up on top of my Khorns, toed in at 45 and they sound remarkable.... Big open L shaped livingroom/diningroom combo..... I temporarily put another set in the corners (on the floor) of my den with the same effect....but the seating in that room won't allow for it permanently. GLA51 suggested this to me and I was surprised....I guess it's very room /amp/source dependent though.....just keep trying, even unorthodox set ups....you'll strike the right combo...
  10. For $150 I think an operator comes with it!!!
  11. HP: Congrats and I think you will be nicely surprised with the scott..... After your post I quickly switched my vintage Au-111 to my khorns and I was impressed.....it wasn't what the BBX/rogue combo is but we are talking nuances.......actually for classic hard rock that doesn't have the best recording/engineering the sansui had a slight edge, because its not as transparent and slightly "vintage sounding" I'm sure you miss your Wellbornes, but there are pluses and minuses with every system.......enjoy and I look forward to hearing your impressions!
  12. I still have no idea how he did that skit with a strait face....I have the lines written down and I can't get through it!!! amazing talent.....
  13. How about renting a trailer to tow behind the silverado???
  14. Great to hear your story! When you getr it right ....you get it right!!!! While megabuck systems can sound great, some times it's the budget systems that can really rock your room, when that certain magic of amp, speaker, and room layout all come together.......so don't sweat having to go bankrupt with upgrade-itis, some times you can spend 1000% more and only get 1% benefit Don't get me wrong, I love every upgrade I have made....but I'll always remember how incredible my first pair of $400 Cornwalls and $200 sansui amp sounded, amazing!!!!! I'd be very happy today with just that system ...... enjoy your new system!!!!!!!
  15. Not sure about Montreal, but Toronto has some of the best used vinyl shops around......every visit I go to Cosmos records and come away with at least 25 primo jazz lps....he must have 15-20K lps in jazz alone, with a private back room dedicated to 1st and rare releases. I also noticed that a lot of the used electronic shops have dozens of turntables in different states of repair.....not sure if it's that vinyl is making a comeback, or it just never went away up north.....?
  16. Glad you had a great time!!! I was there a few years ago for the Jazz fest, great party....really wonderful city....I agree, they do put on a great festival!!!!
  17. just remember Khorns and cornwalls are two different beasts......I have yet to find the amp that made my corns sound bad, khorns, it is very hit or miss. I love LOVE the combo of my vintage tube Sansui AU-111 (extremely high end vintage tube amp) and Cornwalls, but not so much on the khorns.....same with my Mcintosh MC-2505.... the designs I love on the khorns (and this is just my taste) tend to be the more modern, transparent, clean and lean designs.....due to the great sensitivity of the khorns All I can say is to try to audition the scott/marantz on the khorns and don't go by what you remember on the corns just my experience on my khorns in my room....hope this helps......I would say go with a nice modern tube design if you can swing it....
  18. I have an r-104..... solid receiver, no reason to assume the r-115 could be much different other than power.....not nearly as high end as their vintage or new stuff, but solid. $100 ??? I have no idea what they go for....lots of used 10 year old gear in that price range.....
  19. The best thing happened last weekend....went over to a friends house for his 40th BDay party and behold (yes miracles still happen) He has a permanent DJ booth in his livingroom!!! 6 Black carpet cerwin vegas, subs, strobe lights, foggers, disco ball, etc.....and sounds like crap!!! After getting home my wife say's " well I thought all your gear looks like $hit in the living room, but it's actually kinda classy, compared to what we saw tonight!!! " Well I know when to keep my big mouth shut and just take the backhanded compliment......It was the first time in over a year she has even acknowledged the Klipschorns existence.......I'll take what I can get!
  20. The Cambridge is a nice unit....but either your panasonic dock or preamp has a DAC built in ... probably not to the specs of the Cambridge, but a DAC none the less If you have downloaded your tunes as MP3's.....I doubt that you will get much improvement, If you have downloaded or the ability to RIP in a lossless format than upgrading your DAC will give you a nice improvement.....goes back to GIGO, I've never been happy with any mp3's with the exception of earbuds at a noisy gym.....
