  1. Looks like the same stupid buck that lives in my back yard, eating all our hostas and shrubs. Not scared of me either, he figures I'm old and slow. We've been coming across some deer ticks which is my major concern, not wanting to come down with Lyme's disease. Not much I can do about the deer on my property, 4 and 6 foot fences are no problem for them. We bought a product called "Liquid Fence" which is supposed to stop them from eating your plants, it is perhaps the single most revolting smell, I have come across, I puked the first time I used it. One day I expect to find them in the chaise lounges with a pina colada, although that wouold be tough without an opposable thumb.
  2. You have all heard the term "Suicide by Cop", I am afraid this is a case of "Suicide by Doctor."
  3. Certainly sound like Cornwalls, Wuzzer. Do they look like this? http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/cornwall-ii-1-details/ ? I paid $650 for a pair from 1987 on a good price from a fellow Forum member here. Do not be so quick to rid yourself of them. It's not like the wife can carry them out on her own. [][] Oh, and buy the guy who gave them to you a drink!
  4. Welcome Mr. Beast, Islander is right, pictures would yield your fastest answer, dimensions would narrow the focus. Start playing her favorite music and see if the SWMBO comes around on the issue. Tough to beat FREE Klipsch speakers. No matter which ones you have someone on this forum will say 'They ain't so big..." SWMBO=She who must be obeyed.
  5. Hey Schu! I saw Robert Fripp and the League of Gentlemen twice here in NYC. Quite the contrast in styles, Fripp sitting stock still on a barstool playing these incredible runs on his Les Paul, while Sara Lee jumping around playing bass with her orange spiked hair. LOL Johnny Too Bad on Drums and the keyboard player from XTC completed the group. An interesting show needless to say. Thanks for the flashback. []
  6. Thanks for posting those, I am afraid the Iranian government has suppressed tv and internet access to limit the amount of information getting out to the rest of the world. Amazing that they were able to relaease the results of the election within 12 hours, I would think it would be physically impossible to hand count tens of millions of ballots that quickly. The game was rigged.
  7. "Highway Star" belongs on every driving/road tape out there. "My Woman from Tokyo"and "Hush" are part of the soundtrack of my youth. If possible they were actually an underated band, far superior musically than other heavy metal bands that were accorded more acclaim.
  8. "KLIPSCH-HEADS" Or "KLIPSCHEADS" Myself and others have used this term in reference to the members of the forums. A diverse group of people who think it is perfectly normal to own 4 or 5 or more pairs of speakers from a particular company. [][]
  9. I see here at work what kain and others see. Hopefully I can get on eof the Techs to allow the download of Adobe Flash.
  10. "Enablers R Us" [] These folks have helped me spend money I didn't even know I had! [H]
  11. Welcome, as a fan of the Heritage/Extended Heritage lineup I will also cast a vote for the Heresy. You should be able to find a respectable pair in the $300-$350 range, which would still leave you some money in the till. Given your age and limited income, they represent the best bang for the buck. Over time as your income and living space grows you can easily add the additional Heresy's as needed. No problem with synergy or timbre matching and 5 Heresy speakers will certainly ratttle the windows for dvd watching. Over time you can work your way up the ladder to the larger speakers, Chorus, Cornwalls and such. Be patient, if a good deal falls into your lap, say on some Fortes, do not hesitate, you won't regret it. The folks here will be glad to give you an honest assessment of their worth if you could link to ,or provide some pictures of the speakers. Keep us posted on what develops.Good luck.
  12. No luck on my computer here at work, on the main page all of the catagories are jumbled into one another. Looks like it came out of a blender. I came across the Forums and have bookmarked them. I tried to download the Adobe Flash Player, but that was blocked. I'll se if I can get around that. My Account | Cart | Languages | Global | Site Map English Español Français Deutsch Italiano Português Nederlands ?? North America Latin America Europe Asia Australia/New Zealand Russia Africa Of course it POSTS correctly NOW.
  13. Congratulations on getting some work, I hope some of your luck rubs off on some other guys here who need ot catch a break. Southwest Harbor, Me, isn't that over on Mount Desert Island? I guess you can always console yourself with some Lobster Rolls! Good luck with the project.
  14. Expanding and evolving are the terms I would use to describe my interest in music. I am always on the lookout for artists of merit, to broaden my enjoyment of music. I have never been a fan of "pop" music, but within my collection there are plenty of bands, i.e. Beatles, Stones, Kinks, CSN&Y, Creedence, etc That were "popular." I have little use for radio and have actually disconnected my tuner, temporarily, in my system. NYC has dreadful stations, with certain exceptions, WBGO for jazz, WQKR for classical and others but they are the exceptions. I am more dependant on muscial recommendations from my friends and the forums here and over on AK for finding out about worthwhile bands, than on radio. I think it is a natural evolution for your musical tastes to change with age amd music that I thought was the be all and end all when I was in my teens, doesn't get the airplay it used to . I am more likely to play Lyle Lovett or Tony Bennett or Delbert McClinton than to rock out to "Down by the River" or drop in a Soft Machine cd. Doesn't mean I don't like that music any longer, just that it has been supplanted by other styles that I prefer to hear at this point in my life. Oh, and Kaiser: "Nothing like going from some old Graham Parson's to Moby" That may be the first time in history that those two artists have ever been mentioned in the same sentence! []
  15. Congratulations on the newest additions to the family Silversport! The Chorus II's were the first pair of Klipsch speakers I puchased and still love the sound they produce. Since joining the forum here, I always thought the Chorus did not get the love and respect that other speakers in the Heritage lineup were accorded. Maybe that is a misconception on my part, (Younger brother syndrome), as owners of the Chorus always seem to be very happy with them. I have always thought that the Chorus handle a wide range of musical styles with equal grace, which helps when you have eclectic taste in music. Play some music that you know by heart and see what subtle nuances are revealed to you by the Chorus, that will be confirmation of how great a speaker they are. Enjoy.
  16. The wife just emailed me her obit, a giant in the Blues music scene for decades. As FlannJ is pointing out her powerful version of Wang Dang Doodle is the standard, even besting Willie Dixon's ( who wrote it,) I was lucky enough to see her several times with her band The Blues Machine, she always put on a good show even in the later stages of her career. "Come to Momma" indeed, RIP Koko, there will never be another quite like you.
  17. Big Little Feat fan here!!![8][H] I have seen them a number of times, unfortunately never with Lowell George.(A big loss for music when he passed away.) Excellent musicians across the board in the band and in concert they are not afraid to take chances with medleys and covers that are always interesting. last time I saw them they played a free show in Rockefeller Park in my neighborhoood and Dr. John walked on and played with them. Great show. Must have been nice to see them in a small venue.
  18. SECOND BUYER!!!!!! There, I had to get that out of my system. I hope these pan out for you Tom B, that is a fantastic price. Let us know if you get them and of course, post pictures.
  19. A little dumpster diving here. Stopped into J&R Music world last night as they were having a $6.99 sale on Jazz cds last night. Sony/BMG label asnd some Blue Note issues. Picked up the following goodies, the ones I can remember. [] Oscar Peterson plays Count Basie Blossom Dearie Best of Peggy Lee Stan Getz Plays for Lovers Vol I & II Louis Armstrong For Lovers Cd prices are dropping like a stone, in the pop section they had cds by the Doors, Dead, Airplane, Dylan, Little Feat, Talking Heads etc... all for $6.99 as well. Select cds for $4.99. I picked up the first Journey album just for the song Kahoutek for $4.99. The music industry must be getting crushed.
  20. Thanks for throwing in the Jubilee for scale Coytee, it makes the Chorus look puny by comparison. I'll have to show this to the wife, put the fear of God into her the next time she proclaims that the Chorus or Cornwalls are too big! [*-)][]
  21. One of the best things about the old Stereo Review. []
  22. I'll second the Maceo Parker suggestion, "We play 2% jazz and 98% FUNKY STUFF!" Buy this cd: Life on Planet Groove: http://www.amazon.com/Life-Planet-Groove-Maceo-Parker/dp/B0000046OI and "Shake Everything You've Got."
  23. This was early 90's. His shop was in New York City on 30 Watts St. He closed his store front later and just builds in his home. There is no website just a collection of documents he can mail to you. I'd love to have some of his gear. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/fi/mono.html Hey Seti, I remember that shop, it was right down the street from the Manhattan Brewing Company. Great place for a high end audio shop-Watts street. I stopped in there and was talking to him when I mentioned that I owned Klipsch Chorus II's and how much I loved them. He slid a book off the counter and there taped to the glass was a photo of Paul Klipsch!
  24. "Hey, Stephen. Could you come down to my office and oh yeah, bring your jacket." That was a pretty cold phone call I got from my boss the first time I got laid off. It's never pretty, but from my experience I think you will find that some good will come out of it in the long run. I think of the good friends that I have made as a result of that lay off and the fact that I never would have met my wife if that had not happened. Best of luck to you, gentleman.
