  1. I did this same thing, for the same reason. I had mine on the long wall first. 28' apart. I really liked it and thought they sounded fantastic when in the sweet spot. Problem was, in a game room, I was rarely in the sweet spot. So, I moved them to the short wall (18'). They give a more consistent image across more parts of the room this way, but I still miss what they did with wider spacing! I kept the horns up top. I figured the angle was more important for the horn than for the woofer.
  2. No, no remote...but I stream from my phone or laptop and find those serve as my remote. Hasn't been an issue. BTW, they've improved it in the last year. Mine doesn't have the headphone jack or the light on the volume knob.
  3. I can't watch the video now, but can say that I've been more than impressed with mine running a pair of Heresy! To me....very, very good! And for about $150 on Black Friday, for an amp, preamp with sub out, phono in and a bluetooth that works well. Outstanding value! I hope the video felt the same? Will find out tonight!
  4. I'm selling La Scalas right now. Spent 3 hours giving a demo to a buyer and they walked. I've now got a second guy wanting to demo. I have fun demoing, but I can't keep doing this. I've decided I'm no longer going to sell things under $100. It ALWAYS requires more time than you expect.
  5. I don't think this table will. The kids all love it. I probably do too, I never seem to play though. Played some 30 years ago.
  6. I don't know much about the table...the kids play it's nothing fancy. Was a garage sale find.
  7. Maybe the pics will work this time? I think I posted way back in this thread, but time for a refresh anyway.

  9. You can find significantly newer pairs for thousands less.
  10. Nice speakers! I just brought a pair home a few months ago. One in a Jeep Wrangler, the other in a Honda Fit.
  11. I have Khorns and 3 LaScalas. That's pretty close to matching. It's nice, but not one of the "couldn't live without" factors. I ran Heresy for years as my rears and there isn't much difference.
  12. I'm gradually changing. I just find such joy in letting it rip! Historically, peaks around 100db. These days, more like 90db and sometimes as low as 85db. Movies are a bit different. I very much enjoy peaks of 110db or so in action movies. Mind you, those higher peaks are almost always in the 30hz and under range. I wouldn't enjoy that so much in the upper register.
  13. I have some LaScalas that don't have a job in my house right now. Don't know if this makes me want to sell in the high market or continue to hold? Might be a good retirement strategy, as no other investment I have is increasing at this rate!
  14. I can certainly understand that. My room is 17.5' wide and I wish it were wider.
  15. I just changed from LaScalas to Khorns. When paired with the subs, the differences are subtle to my wife, but significant to me. I'm glad I changed. I did so only because I was able to do it without financial risk based on the elevated market. If your corners are less than ideal and you employ a sub, I would be at peace with the LaScalas.
  16. Just moved Khorns in a Wrangler...one at a time!
  17. That was a fantastic playlist! Listened to the entire thing. Thanks.
  18. These inflated prices do help me getting my wife on board easier! I have LaScalas that I planned to sell. I get excited at what they might sell at, but my wife reminds me how much I love them and that the value will always be there. She's right. . So I just gave them a job as rear surrounds.
  19. Sometimes you ask questions that aren't necessary or try to solve problems you don't have. I hooked up my Macbook to the stereo using the headphone jack and played some of these links. Quality is not a concern. There may be a difference on paper, but it would be splitting hairs in real life. Looking forward to using this thread to expand my musical pallet.
  20. Hey Brother! Good to hear from you. The Danley's are still going strong. Better than ever in fact. I've EQ'd them much better these days.
  21. I've had a front stage of 3 LaScala for the past decade or more. About a month ago, I picked up Khorns, 75 vintage. It's been a worthwhile experiment for me. I appreciate the differences enough to keep them in the roll and move the LaScalas to another room for 2-channel. So what are the differences? Most prominent is the way they couple with the room. It's hard to describe, but when people say the room becomes part of the cabinet, you can tell. My dynamics were already off the charts, but it literally scares me now. Something unexpected in a movie will cause me to jump up. Secondly, the level of separation and detail is higher. I know it shouldn't be, but it is. I ran REW, and find it is easier to stay flatter in the mid base area. Makes sense, as the Khorns dig deeper and I'm able to run the crossover lower. My room is 18x30x9'. Visually, I don't like that the axis is pointed at 45 degrees. I also assumed a problem with my listening position being 7' behind the axis. However, it works very well. Hasn't been a concern. I bought mine knowing that I couldn't lose. If I loved them, I keep them. If I didn't, I sell them easily. I originally thought I would sell the LaScalas, but have changed my mind. Good luck to you.
  22. That looks intimidating. But are you somehow improving the source? Is this what the DAC is doing for you? Isn't the source compromised from the beginning? Or, are you saying I'm splitting hairs? Maybe I am?
  23. Meaning what? You play it on a computer and use a DAC to go into the RCA inputs of a stereo? If so, this seems to be a pretty low quality way of listening by today's standards. I can play direct to my processor through the AppleTV YouTube app. This way, I stay in the digital realm. However, the bottleneck is still the compressed quality that YouTube gives us. Am I missing something?
  24. Are you guys running these videos through your stereo? I don't know the technology very well, but this isn't lossless. So what's the best way to stream in the best quality versions?
  25. I wish there was a concert of Dire Straits at the top of the AQ spectrum. The music is too good not to have it!
