  1. Go with Anthem....I really like ARC George,
  2. Both....you will love them...MX 1000....CX 1000 in that condition... Buy them. Here Are mine. MX -800U... C-70 George,
  3. Matt, Yea my MX was made in 1989....Decided to go with older C-70 preamp...because of the parametric eq ...and it was one of the best preamp's Yamaha made. Price was right ....everything for about $600.00...Picked up a matching tuner for an additional 40 bucks.(still in box) I only turn the red meters on when I demo....but that's just me. George,
  4. Matt, Nice pick up....I do have an Yamaha MX series amp......Not for sale...It never gets dusty. Many on this forum do not like the way Yamaha sounds because of the bright factor. I got to say I like the way my MX sounds. Nice find... George,
  5. So.......HOW do they sound ?....We're all here waiting..... George,
  6. You know.....what integrated amp is a good question.... Definitely NOT Rotel 1570...a definite known internal issue that caused a popping or crackling sound. It could start as soon as a week or as long as 5 months. Nad...I agree about the lifelessness in some models...but I am not an expert on the brand Id probably look into the Yamaha's.... Or maybe something different like Schiit Audio Ragnarok its only 50 watts....but after all we all use very efficient speakers. I also am kind of shopping around for an integrated....but not in a hurry...My MX-800 is doing the job for now George,

    What I Got Today!

So What kind of processor are you pairing it to. George,
  9. I can remember some telling me you were obsessed.......think they were right George,
  10. Here is a set of Chorus II's that were black. The speakers on these were oak ....the risers were walnut..... Here is a before shot...then a shot before refinishing with the re veneered risers. George,
  11. Risers are pretty easy to fix . Either remove all old veneer with heat gun and scrapper ....or just remove the bad parts and fill in with filler or bondo....then reveneer. Ordered pressure sensitive veneer from Rockler Here a a few shots of a pair of Quartets I did last year. This pair the risers were originally oak George,
  12. +1 to that....... Yours are worth $350.00 on a good day......$300.00 on a day when you really want them to go away. If you were local I'd probably do $350.00.....drivers need to be good though. George,
  13. Nice setup.......you have done well my friend. George,
  14. yea ...what they said I would definitely replace the caps....if you don't want to do them ....send them to Bob. sealing and gaskets are always good. I have 2 pair .....one I actually bought Bobs crossovers....the second I did diaphragms and did caps myself. The first pair are my Golden pair....sound fricken awesome....the second pair sound great too....but they were $300.00 cheaper to do Love em both You know what they say.....it depends on what you want to spend. George,
  15. Well it wasn't meant to be......Went to do demo ....the guy had it running...sounded great ....powered it down and then back up.....no right channel. I decided to pass. Thanks for your replies, George,
  16. I got a chance to buy this combo this week....$800.00 it appears to be in good shape....Anything to look out for? George,
  17. +1 to that...Chorus II's ......I would top out at $750.00......But I don't need them. George,
  18. I just decided to rank them for you 1 Oppo 2 Oppo 3 Oppo 4 brands that use parts from Oppo Yes I like my 103....darbee edition gives you a slight more detailed picture George,
  19. They do look nice.....beautiful grain Good luck with the sale. George,
  20. John Prine...I actually partied with that guy...Up in Wausau Wisconsin...Rib Mountain....Strictly legal.....of course.......
  21. This really looks like it's going to be a fun topic. I really like being back into vinyl. I really haven't had this much passion / fun with music in a long time. I was for along time only interested in home theater. To be honest I really started to get back into music / analog after a get together with guys on this forum. I actually went to get a feel for Dolby Atmos. I tried at first to rig everything through my home theater processor....I hated the way it sounded...decided to pursue and buy Yamaha amp/preamp. I went out and bought the same turntable I had when I was 18. Maybe it's an interaction thing for me . Don't get me wrong I could just pop a cd into the Oppo and listen. But for me taking the record out of the sleeve/putting it on the platter doing a quick discwasher cleaning...making sure the volume on the preamp is down ...then slowly bringing it up. just seems to fit ...for me that is . Guys ....sorry I do not have anything to contribute ...spinning wise that is..... but I hopped on a plane to visit my mother....just thought I'd check in. Didn't mean to ramble on, George,
