  1. I got mine 2 years ago so I don't know if anything has changed. Steve Phillips has a handle on the Heritage stuff and was a great help... I hope he is still around. I think they had a situation where some came with the mid horns and some came without. These kits aren't sitting around all put together waiting to ship. Someone has to put each individual part on the order and then someone else pulls each individual part to build the kit. Since I was fixing up boxes that somebody had emptied I ordered mid horns. When the upgrade hit came I wound up with extra horns which I later sent to a forum member in need.
  2. It makes me cringe to see speakers and equipment slapped up against the wall in a line. It is unlikely that is the ideal placement. The resonance that I had at some low frequencies with Lascala (I) while I had them improperly place was quite horrible! Strange that Cornwalls in the exact same spot didn't have the issue as bad. Putting them on the diagonal and pulling them more into the (almost square) room cleared everything up. I was hearing more bass and cleaner sound than I ever had before. I'm not saying this is the proper placement for these... just that they have to work at it more to find where the speakers and listeners should sit. Perhaps Lascalas suffer more than other models when poorly placed. I can attest that the difference between bad and decent placement is astounding!
  3. When I finally get things settled down and fix my room problems I'll have you up for a listen!
  4. I've got some of those high dollar 6h30 tubes so I'll be sure to let you know when I can.
  5. Now if we can just get you into some Klipsch you will really have something! []
  6. Come and get 'em! PM sent.
  7. Can you show us the serial number? Have the crossovers been refreshed?
  8. Another version of a familiar story... thanks for sharing! Don't just start throwing acoustic treatments around. Take a look at Jim Smiths, "Get better sound." Just following a couple of his tips more than paid for the book!
  9. These are the horns: http://mysite.verizon.net/res12il11/id68.html They are a drop in replacement for the K400 in the Lascalas. Al refers to these same horns on the ALK engineering site. I don't know how much these differ from the horns you got in 2009. I suspect they would be similar but someone else would have to weigh in on this. IMHO the Fastracs from Dave are better in every way than the K400 and a step up from Altec 511s as well. That said, if I understand your description of your setup you have a 5 channel system. I don't think I would want to mix fastracs with k400s... I would replace all or nothing to keep them matched.
  10. Actually, I am using the Cornwall Fastracs on top of the Lascalas right now. I hope to get Eliptracs for the Lascalas and then move the Cornwall version back to the Cornwalls. The Fc on the Lascalas is 354 Hz and on the Cornwalls it is 380. I'm thinking I should be OK.
  11. If you still have K400 horns in your Lascalas you should seriously consider giving these a try!
  12. Now available is a pair of Dave's Fastrac Horns for the Lascala. I've had these in the box for a year but I'm changing course with my project. I took them out to test but never installed them. Includes the K55 adapters. $325 PM if interested.
  13. I have to agree. It has happened to me as well where not all was as promised. I can also say from experience that there is some percentage of equipment failures that are the result of it being slammed around in shipping. The shipper can slam a box hard enough to jar some weak solder joints loose and not do any apparent damage to the box itself. All that said, I'm happy to add that I've mostly gotten along really well with folks in the Garage sale. It probably helps when I agree to pay their asking price and send them a Paypal 2 minutes later.

    Raw milk

Really? No one has said it yet?! This is udderly ridiculous.
  15. Have you checked your email since last night?
  16. Oh my gosh! I just looked out my window and there are no palm trees or mountains! They must be going extinct! [] Seriously, it's bad enough if I have to hire the Chinese to pollinate my flowers but if I don't get honey on my toast once in a while I'm going to write my congressman.
  17. Magic Eraser It cleaned up the gold finish of the Fisher 500 nicely and left all the lettering intact. I worked lightly and did the minimum amount of rubbing. I find it to be much more gentle than even a damp cloth. YMMV
  18. I suspect Internet Explorer 10 is what's up. Go to "Tools" and select "compatibility view settings." Enter Klipsch.com under "add this website."

    What I Got Today!

Your story really closely parallels mine! Except it was one year later that I spent 6 months of paper route money on a Hitachi TRK-8080H that I still have today. My Dad has used it for the last 10 years or so.
  20. hmmm... this is a case of telling you some of what you might not want to hear. I rolled quite a few different 12ax7 makes through the Scott and I wound up right where many folks told me I would... with Telefunken's for the pre and phono section. Looking from the front the phono is the pair on the left. They have to be there but if you don't use the phono you would be fine to put something cheap there. I'm parroting what others have told me but this is also my personal experience. Of course, I had to find out for myself. You might prefer to start at the end. If you ask, someone here might have some teles they might sell for a fair price. Smooth or ribbed plate... not much difference to my ears.
  21. OMG! A Pioneer SX-1250 has got to be amazing and should fill in the most of the bass nicely! I'm glad you meant 11:00 on the volume... I can't get it to that with Heresys without fear for my ears Congrats! [Y]
  22. If you have an iPhone or iPad you might like the Squeezebox app. It works great with the Squeezebox Touch including navigating around MOG on the Touch. When using the computer and DAC I have quickly learned to love the Monkeymote app to remote control Foobar2000. Works better than I imagined it would!
  23. Hmmm... I'm thinking the cat wouldn't have much time to enjoy it as those single atom thick lines slice right through it. []
