  1. Great summer job with incredible pay would be like UPS or FED Express. All the same reasons.. Pays better at entry, your ok to be a temp. And if you get the graveyard shift, who cares?? 11PM- 7 am... Sleep till noon. Have your afternoons free to have fun, and make some great $$ Good Luck. I had several friends that did this in HS and College in the summer that were able to make serious $$$. Also, by lifting packages 50 lbs or less all night / AM, they had some great muscles at the end of the summer too. Good Luck!! This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 06-19-2002 at 10:07 AM
  2. Too bad the La Scala industrials with the metal trim are not still made, Of course you could find a great pair every once in a while on EBAY. They look soooo bold and rugged. Would be cool to see out in the open in a room too.
  3. I once knew a BOSE employee that had Klipsch and BOSE at home. He was able to keep the Klipsch because he had it before. The Klipsch was in the home theatre / family room. The BOSE was in the bedroom. HAHAHAHAHA true story!!! I know impossible, but a real headline like this would just about ruin my day and make me sick..LOL Long Live Klipsch, on its own... 8. Just checking in....hmm June no response yet....will keep you updated....
  9. I updated my essay above with some more thoughts. I hope you find it helpful.
  10. Your 17..... Is it safe to assume your going to be a Sophomore or a Junior next year in High School? My guess by this question is you found out that your grades in school for the first time in your life... count. Yes, we have to use something to measure performance of people mastering a topic or concept somehow. If your grades are bad, you have 2-3 more years to change yourself for the better. And College entrance applications will actually look better if you do better each semester and grow to a better GPA. TIP.. Your essay can be about growing up, assuming responsibility for yourself, your actions, and your future... And how college will open doors to this. From what some people said before on this topic, I agree. "For good or for bad, the road to a degree at any level is a constant process of sitting in classes, and pleasing a teacher with homework, and test results. " But that can also be said for your employer too. I know "intellectually constipated" people who are trapped in terrible frustrating positions in corporations that they do not fit in, and eventually sometimes painfully so, drop out of life. I also see and know what seems like people with no brains at all, who are very very successful. Life isn't fair, either way. I think, if I can give you any advice, I will share what my father did with me at about this same time in my life, as you are today. So here it is. "Where you will be in 5 years will depend on 2 things." #1. The people you associate with. (You can take this as successful people, people that encourage and challenge you, and like others said in here, your family and close friends. When you get older you realize just how important they are to you. Hang out with losers, and see yourself become one too.) And #2. The information you process.(You can call this school, or on the job education. It may be a new skill or something to make you valuable to your employer and ultimately for yourself. Reading comic books etc. will never make you rich.) My point here is, to be successful at anything..... Requires hard work, and yes some luck along the way. People often point out Bill Gates.. True, he left Harvard. He was very smart, had already a very good business savvy mind, and was already "successful". I think he is, however, a bad example for everyone to use. That would be like me as a Junior High kid playing basketball saying, "Well could I be Michael Jordan", or singing in the choir, but wanting to be a famous rock star. I say this, because examples like this are one in a million happenings. (OK, So like Alan Jackson said, "Wooo hooo... I only have to make, on average, one fan out of every 289 people in the USA. I can do that". Yes, there are many many millionaires that were at some time average people, that later on in life succeeded in very "average" businesses... and became rich. Well on paper anyhow! Again, most eventually owned their own businesses, and again worked very hard. Read the book, "The Millionaire next door." As a side note... My nephew had a friend who 2 weeks before he was to be his college roommate, was late for work (again) and stopped to get cigarettes and a 5 dollar lottery ticket. To make a long story short. He won.. Really big... 6.8 million after taxes. Is he a success? No, he has no drive to do anything, He dropped out of school, he has lost most of his friends, and he has serious drinking and drug problems. I am sure someday we will read that he lost it all ... in just a few years. As for me. I am now 40, married 8 great years, and just 8 months ago know the feeling of fatherhood. I was with my wife in the delivery room as we brought our little girl into our lives after years of trying unsuccessfully. I have a few great friends, and I am close with my family. I am able to help others through money to various charities and spend time on projects that I know I can help others out on. So "The people I have chosen to associate with," have made me a success on the inside and outside. Number 1 remember?? As for number 2, "The information you process." I was a 3.35 + - student in HS (4.0 scale) and had a 1260 on my SAT. (Who memorises or remembers this stuff or even cares anyhow? I am always amazed at people that can tell you evry grade they had in all thier classes in their past.) I went to a top 10 Business school and graduated with B's. I went into Direct Sales where I learned the "School of hard knocks" and learned how to survive. (100 cold calls, plus regular customers a week.) I later went into medical sales, where I fell into the first year lawyer trap of 60-80 hrs of hard work and $$$ a year. This, too, "looked" like success... Until I started to notice where in just a few years I lost what was going on with my friends, and a little with family, because I was not around to enjoy and share in their lives too. I later learned a very valuable lesson because I was downsized in a reorganization. Read fired. At 28, I was burned out, very frustrated, and confused too. Is this what success is all about? No, it was not. But, I wasn't through with "me" either. I then went to work for a very wise and succesful businessman. He was in the Investment Business, managing money for people. He saw my potential to learn his business, and add my energy and marketing skills to his theory and research abilities. He built this business from scratch from 1964. We have built it together even better, since 1989. Even in this tough stock market. I still work hard. Because I owe it to myself, and my clients, to do my best. Is it easy? No. I still read a lot to keep me updated, and go to "school" to better my skills, but it is in balance. I later learned to have those words mean something "Where you will be in 5 years will depend on 2 things." Applying the rules #1 and #2 to my life. When I figured this out, and keep life in balance, and it works. I am back financially and emotionally to where I once was, and then some. ( Hey, how else can we afford these fabulous Klipsch Speakers? LOL...) If I can use fatherhood as an example, (Excuse me, but this is to be my first experience with Fathers Day this weekend), Life is great!! Ultimately, other than some of the skills you get in college, trade school, etc., most employers will not even care what your major was. Just that you have a 4 yr degree. More important, are the skills and inner drive you have today, and what it will add to the "team" today. I hope my advice helps you in your "life's journey." You can re-invent yourself to be something different if you apply yourself and work hard. Just remember.... Where YOU will be in 5 years, will be ultimately decided by these two rules. "The people you associate with, and the information you process. This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 06-14-2002 at 12:03 PM
  11. Kenra no your thinking of the MCM1900 system.... Another whole beast...LOL.. The Pro La Scala's are pretty cool though. But you will need a sub if you want real lows.
  12. Did anyone buy these. For 50 dollars, I would be intersted in a quick sale if they are not sold.
  13. Sony is a good unit. My parents home theater, which I designed in 1992, has a Sony projection system in it. Yes, todays stuff is slightly better, yes, even the cost is lower too. The only reason I say this, is it STILL looks fantastic and no problems in 10 years. Thats my point, kinda like Klipsch. Buy "quality" the first time, it will last you a for a long time. Just do not go for the pixel units.(Eventually, the pixel units grow dark one by one, or go out completely... which makes watching them on the big screen a shame.) Go for a real projector, and spend some $$ on a good screen too.(We used Stewart) It will make a huge difference, trust me. I saw a very small unit here in the states, sorry I do not have the model number, About 10 grand US, very quiet, and really incredible picture detail too. My 2 cents. 14. They have some protection for the high end and came with a woofer able to take 200 watts of power. Same basic design. Also, some were made with industrial sides, (metal trim) handles, and sometimes split too.(top horns, bottom w box) and fiberglass I believe. I used 2 pairs of these in college in the 80's. (As a DJ and singer in a band in Bloomington, Indiana called "Exposure.") We would stack the low cabinets and put both high ends on top of one another. Easily we could play the smaller clubs to Axis (Used to be called Jakes) where on dime beer night they would easily squeeze 1,000 people + in. (although here we would also have 2 JBL subs too. Sorry, but true!) If you can find a pair that still look good they would be a great buy!
  15. Hmm asked a? in April, no response. Asked it in May, no response. I wonder with tomorrow being June if anyone will reply? Just might have to look elsewhere for Pro Gear if Klipsch is not interested. Seems a shame though. Anyone home?
  16. I sing locally on commercials and do production work from time to time in the studio. We all have our favorites. Some headphones are meant to be open, others cover the full ear blocking out any other distracting sounds. Bose..Wow hard to say that word, even has a noise canceling feature for outside noise so what you plug into them is just that source...( kinda wild to explain here but great for people who work in a loud atmosphere too for about 299.00) Your question is a good one. At what price point do I get a decent pair of headphones that sound good? This comes down to a personal taste issue IMO because the stats may read great and yes they might sound great, BUT the FEEL of them on your ears is also important. I would suggest going to two places, one would be like a BEST BUY retail store, the other would be a huge music store like MARS MUSIC. You can then try on several models. Look on the net for cheaper prices through the typical channels, and see if you can get a bargain. (Make sure it is the same model and not one that looks like it!) My last suggestion is you might find $20. is not enough ($40.-$125.however should be 90% of what most people would be thrilled with in very good choices.) If your willing to take this much energy to post a message and have a real love of music... $40+ or so dollars to get something really nice is a good "investment" rather than be too thrifty here and buy something just because it is less expensive. Of course you can get silly too. For most people, and I have tried them on too, you can buy a $1000. or even $2000 pair of headphones. But with today's application of some rare magnets, your gonna be surprised just how good they do sound! Hope this helps. It's about Sound AND Comfort, period. 17. It does seem kinda crazy in our house "Justin" gets his prayers just like all our family and friends. Somehow with all this good energy your way, I am sure you will be fine in no time. Keep positive thoughts, and stay busy when your back to "normal." Whatever that is..LOL.
  18. Peter Frampton is on the High Definition TV loop at my local stereo store. After all these years, actually he is better today, and the sound is just incredible. I think you reach a certain level of success and can buy the best equipment to have the best engineers to make you sound great and if you still are on your chops....YOu do in fact sound better. I never knew he lived in Cincy that is really cool to know too. I recently bought what is called an "extended hits disc" from BMG music group at meijers or wal mart.... I love it too. It was recorded live...I think "Show me the way" is like 16 min long.... Ah the concerts of yesteryear...LOL> Cranked up on the Klipsch Speakers it sounds soooo incredible.
  19. So you're running your second set of surrounds via the B speaker terminals, correct? I would "assume" that this would cut the amp power to the A+B speakers in 1/2, but since the Klipschs are so efficient this shouldn't be a problem. This is true...A+B Also when you calibrated did you measure/set A&B together or separately? Since calibrating will get them back up to the proper level. Looks like I'll be buying some 12 gauge wire tomorrow and hookin' it all up. Together... Some guys over on the HTF said it couldn't be done and the manual isn't real clear. Thanks you made my day...Mike Well alot of people deny a lot of things in life...ENJOY
  20. Yes! And it sounds great too!! Here is what you have. A left, center, right, left effect half way back, left effect in the left corner (or back of you filling in on the side)...and your 2 back speakers L+R behind you, right rear corner (or back of you filling in on the side), and right half way back surround. for a total of 9 speakers. Add a sub and it is 10 Speakers...LOL. I use this on my Denon 3802. I asked help from Steve here at Klipsch he was nice enough over a bribe of a home cooked meal. (Lasagna... mmmm) We used a HT demo disc and an analog Radio Shack SPL meter. After it was all calibrated, he said, "WOW, THAT is impressive." Think of it as the same in a big movie theater how the sound totally surrounds you with information. The same info on the side and corner sides is the same yes ... but how it fills the HT room and the overall effect is incredible. Enjoy it, and tell me what you think, after it is set up!!! Roger
  21. dndphishin If you get a hold of a pair and want to split one up, I would be interested. I, also, want a Belle for a mid/center channel. I too saw the one on EBAY black and talked with the guy. He just made the bottom to do this said it was no big deal. I wonder if anyone has taken a K horn top and done the same? Might be interesting too.
  22. Bob, Are these storys supposed to about the Klipschorn and our experience with them? Also, what about length too. You obviously can't read 5,000 pages of one persons story times how many entrants. LOL I love this idea though. Thanks for doing this!!!
  23. Save the sub for later... Always buy quality first. If you love the rf-7's go for it. You can add the sub later. The RF-7's are great speakers, and in my opinion, sound closer to the Klipsch Heritage lineup from yester years design. If your a little brave...look at a Klipsch Cornwall used...Ebay etc etc... You might be surprised. My 2 cents
