    No Bullshit

ToS prohibits Cross Posting... rather surprised nothing listed in ToS discourages or prohibits Power Posting. Power Posting (just to raise your post count) is more annoying than SPAM. "Pointless way to fill a forum with garbage." BS Actually I agree with you Nismo. "Pointless way to fill a forum with garbage." Some of us don't say a lot, but learn by reading the forum. Guess I got a lot of garbage to post if I wanted to belong to the Elite Club.
  2. I would have to agree. Here is a list of some of the most powerful (mfg 8 ohm ratings) pre-1990 vintage receivers of all time. Many are from the 1970s; however, there are a few after that period that seemed to deserve recognition in this list. I almost picked up a Rotel RX-1603 for a nice price; however, it was sold before I got around to it. 1. Technics SA-1000 - 330 WPC 2. Marantz 2600 - 300 WPC 3. Sansui G-33000 - 300 WPC 4. Pioneer SX-1980 - 270 WPC 5. Marantz 2500 - 250 WPC 6. Sansui G-22000 - 220 WPC 7. Sansui G-9700 - 200 WPC 8. Kenwood KR-9050 - 200 WPC 9. Hitachi SR-2004 - 200 WPC 10. Marantz 2385 - 185 WPC 11. Pioneer SX-1280 - 185 WPC 12. Technics SA-5770 - 185 WPC 13. Rotel RX-1603 - 180 WPC 14. Nikko NR-1415 - 175 WPC 15. Fisher RS-1080 - 170 WPC 16. Yamaha CR-3020 - 170 WPC 17. Concept 16.5 - 165 WPC 18. Technics SA-5760 - 165 WPC 19. Kenwood KR-9600 - 160 WPC 20. Luxman R-117 - 160 WPC 21. Onkyo TX-8500 MkII - 160 WPC 22. Pioneer SX-1250 - 160 WPC 23. Sansui G-8700 - 160 WPC 24. Sansui G-9000/901 - 160 WPC 25. Sansui 9900Z - 160 WPC These didn't make the list as they are 'only' 125 WPC; however, I think they look great. Not only expensive to repair but to ship. Have a 2500 that was DOA and now has been restored. 2 or 3 notches on the volume is enough for my Khorns in MY house. YMMV
  3. 20 gauge shot guns. Or 12 gauge Dump the shot out and replace with table salt. Buy Beer. Invite the neighbors. No VP shots
  4. I'd recommend against using these. If you feel you must use them be sure to cover the outside with a GOOD insulator. (shrink wrap) I had a set covered with tape. Tape came loose, positive terminal touched negative terminal and let the magic smoke out.

    I Stole it

Nobody home at my cousins so I took a discarded stereo from the recycle box. Left him some pretty 4 conductor cables that he will have no use for. It has 2 of the volume/balance pots like the Sansui's. Never see replacements for the Sansui's but suspect that these could be a close replacement to keep on hand. As long as I have a spare I won't need one. Anyone know if there is much difference in the ratings of the volume/balance pots?
  6. While working on a VA Psych unit I was complaining about having to work on the house when I got home. One of the Veterans put it into perspective when he said that none of the patients present had homes to go home to.
  7. I was only kidding about using the wife and kids for a remote. Thought maybe I could shake the tree a little.

    I don't get it.

I know I've done worse things in the past. I did check with my son and asked if he thought Tristan would take care of the. Got a positive approval. No Blow or Bose in that house. I set my brother up with a Marantz 2270 which Tristan says he really likes. Right now he does not have email at home. I've tried to get both him and his brother to join or at least visit this Forum. How would Polycarbonate tops work instead of glass. I can get the Poly at a building supply cut to size. He wants me to find him a good stereo system. My thoughts was since he is now renting a nice home and has a job right out of high school I would give him time to find what he wants. He has listened to my Son's La Scala's and likes them. No sub though. He asked if I had any good speakers that I could sell. Thus I offered to give him the Allisons. That stands whether or not he wants to use the La Scala's. I think you may be right as he seemed concerned with the value of the system. He is a good kid or I never would have made him the offer.

    FS- boat

    Does it come with Stereo?
  10. You don't need a Remote but a well trained Wife, or a couple Kids.

    I don't get it.

My nephew graduates in a few days and in addition to offering him 2 pair of Allison speakers to keep. I also offered to loan him 2 pair of La Scala's and a Marantz 2325. And He says he'll have to think about it! Now if I were single again. 18 years old. Lived in my own house and someone made an offer like this there would be no THINKING about it. What's wrong with kids now days?
  12. Pipe insulation is cheap. Inexpensive to try and if you like it, it's a success. Worst case is you don't like it and are out a few dollars.
  13. Seems long ago I asked about using counter top for speakers and got (accused/warned?) about carving the turkey on speakers.
  14. Last time I went camping it was with my Son. We took a tarp and our sleeping bags. Laid the tarp on the ground, sleeping bags on the tarp, then folded the tarp over the sleeping bags so the part of the tarp under the bags kept ground moisture down. The top most part of the tarp covers everything and kept the rain off. Snug, Warm, and DRY. Could not ask for more.
  15. Wow. I thought people would want a thread where they can Give reference to those that help us. Someplace where we can compare opinions and maybe choose a tech or at least make people feel appreciated. Certainly nothing like "Coffee and Cables". Oh well. Who knows what makes one thread fly and another flounder.

    Midwest Weather

I have to admit that I love the Oaks. Just not as much as the wife. How far away from the house is safe for foundations? There is some Giant Oaks that I'd like to get some acorns from. I'd never get to see them full grown around the house but the ones I speak of are at least 3' diameter and some over 4'. Somewhere around 200' tall + - I'd guess although I've never measured. Guess I need to make a trip to gather acorns and measurements. Plant them a couple hundred feet from the house.
  17. OMG! That never comes out good. Been there and Dealt with that.

    Midwest Weather

I tend to watch the Oaks around the property here. Had one that was about 40' from the house and leaning over the house. Had it and some others removed this year. This summer don't look to good here in Oregon. 7% snow pack, river behind dad's is so low I can wade across. Living in Forested neighborhood I'm of course worried about fire. Rained last night so I set off the last of the model rockets for this season. (Well Maybe)
  19. Think of working in an O.R. and having to harvest organs from a child killed from falling off his bike while not wearing a bicycle helmet. You do this just once and your kids will wear helmets. It's all Tragic, When it happens close to you or you have become involved it seems like it's more Tragic, :-(
  20. Grand Dad grew up in Louisiana, Circus came to town with a bear, and offered $5 for anyone that could stay in the Bear's ring for 3 minutes. Grand Dad needed the money bad. So he got into the ring and First thing he did was to throw the bear out of the ring. Got his $5 too.
  21. We went through 50 lb bags of food like nobody's business. Our backyard backed up to a man made (non concrete) drainage ditch. about twice a week we'd scoop the back yard and sling it over the fence into the ditch. We had greener grass in the ditch behind our house than anyone on the block. We only have the wife's Ankle Biter. She goes across the street outside the neighbors pasture to drop her loads. No Dog Bombs in our yard.

    My New Toy

My Cousin is 5'2" and rides her custom Super Glide, Flat footed at the stops. Her Sportster just sits in the garage last I heard.
  23. Kinda like being in love with a ugly person. When all the lights are out, they all look the same. Nope, not for me. Wouldn't drive across the street for them.
  24. I worked with a guy that had reading glasses with the normal string behind the head. The really neat thing was his glasses were held together at the nose. Small but strong magnets for sure, I think this is a great Idea for more then just headphone Jacks, :emotion-21: . Interconnects Galore. No more having someone trip or pull a speaker wire just to short the amp. Sounds good to me.
