  1. Have heard a lot about La Scalla that how sweet and detailed they are, but haven't gotten a chance to audition them. Apart from the WAF, space might be a constraint in these tiny rooms of modern homes though. My comparison to Klipsch Palladium is bit unfair knowing the huge price difference. But it's either the crossover or the one horn speaker delivering mid to high frequencies in RF-7 II might be a limitation. I can only say this because I can feed exact same source via same amplifier at the same time and hear the difference. Might be difficult, if they were heard seperately. That said, there're well known pros and cons with 2-way and 3-way designs. With 2-way one will have to sacrifice or spend a lot on speaker selection/design with a relatively simpler crossover design with one crossover point. While, 3-way provides the opportunity to have dedicated 3rd driver seperating mid-range and high frequencies, crossover requirs a special attention and designs are bit complicated to make sure that it doesn't loose a frequency spectrum at two crossover points. Oh well, there has to be a difference between P-39F and RF-7 II... lol
  2. Few years ago when RF-83 and RF-63 were still sold in the market, we'd a gotten the opportunity to audition both at the local mid-high end audio store (non-Best Buy !!). To me RF-63 sounded forward (brighter) while RF-83 seemed to be bit laid back. While, I couldn't decide which one to buy, there was certainly a placement issue with deep cabinet size of RF-83. When RF-7 II were introduced we auditioned them, fell in love Instantly and ordered few pairs. If I jog my memory how RF-63 and RF-83 sounded and compare with RF-7 II, then I'll say RF-7 II are much more refined with a deeper base/bass. I've not been fortunate to auditon RF-7 but reading on various forum threads and such, it seemed that Klipsch managed to take care of most of short comings of legendary RF-7 when they designed RF-7 II. If there's a possibility to stretch the budget or wait, I would choose RF-7 II over RF-63 or RF-83 in a heartbit.
  3. Congrats !! Post the pics and let us know how they sound
  4. There are some clarification made by Alex Leopold at the end of the post, Check it out http://www.klipsch.com/blog/klipsch-reference-premiere-vs-reference-ii-speakers/#comment-2247
  5. agree with Edroom and muel ... Bought them when they were launched and I've loved them every single moment since then... Good luck in your purchase
  6. If it's possible, then ask for a favor to a friend or family to test your sub at thier home. If it hums in their home as well then you can ask Klipsch that it doesn't seem the home wiring issue. Should be very easy test over a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of beer.
  7. Man that's difficult digest! Without connecting a sub cable to source, if it makes a humming noise, then how it's gonna fix by connecting to wireless. It doesn't make sense to me. You should talk to some one knowledgeble at Klipsch...
  8. They look great... Seems like they're always part of your setup !! If they don't look that bad, then just touch them up and re-varnish them. The aged look might look nice and appriciate in value Either way, I just fell in love looking at them...
  9. sounds like when you increase the sound level, the wifi is running at maximum power/range level, while reducing the power/gain when it's running at low volume. It doesn't make sense, but seems like Onkyo engineers have created a bug in their algorithm. If you like the sonic signature of the Onkyo with your set up then find out if they've a fix released through firmware update.
  10. If you like RF-82 II sound compared to RC-64 II then probably use one of it instead. I remember seeing couple of such set-ups where RF-7 II was used as a center channel. In my setup, I've set center as large crossing over to sub at 60Hz sounds great - I'm quite satisfied with this setup along with my RF-7 IIs...
  11. Drop dead georgeous !!!
  12. lol... Wish I had a space for that underneath my TV. I contemplated few times to lay down one of my RF-7 II and see how it sounds... That said, there is a distinct difference between RC-64 II and RF-7 II. RC-64 II is a sealed speaker with a tapered array crossing over at 1100Hz and 1400Hz while RF-7 II is a ported speaker crossing over at 1200Hz. Per Klipsch specifications, the RC-64 II goes quite low upto 59Hz - it's a beast bringing my HT alive , but imagine going as low as 30Hz with RF-7 II
  13. you might want to sound out the surrounds by placing them at various places within the room before mounting them. Also, while your looking in to 7.1 setup, might want to consider Atmos options as a future expansion to current system.
  14. Absolutely ZERO hissing sound with both Denons that I've... Sounds like your AVR is the culprit as these are passive speakers to begin with... Unless the whole system as in Pre-Pro are matched with each other, the pre-amp outs and amplifier ins might cause an issue. Not to mention it's a pricy affair. You might want to start looking into a good AVR, probably with 0.05% Total Harmonic Distortion.
  15. Have you tried connecting to different wall outlets in your home and see if it still hums. 99% it's the wall outlet (AC Power) side causing the hum. That said, the filter circuit etc. within built-in amplifier of the Klipsch sub should take care of it. I would call Klipsch Technical Support and find out why your other sub is not causing hum while Klipsch Sub does. Good Luck
  16. If you're still in market get Samsung UN60F8000BFXZA (or UN75F8000BFXZA.). I compared 60" TV with Sony Bravia 4K and picture was nearly same. The processor is plenty fast, Smart TV and finally their "Ultimate Micro Dimming" technology produces breathtaking picture. The Smart Remote, etc., might not be that useful, but Smart TV itself is really great for watching You Tube, Netflix etc.. It does come with normal remote. That said, the picture is amazingly clear and 3D like without even turning the 3D mode on. btw., I'm NOT a Samsung employee or has no connection with them what so ever - just my personal experience and preference after comparing Sharp, Panasonic, Sony, LG and Samsung within the price range for last 15 years or so... Samsung came in with DLP back in days, very new as a brand and have given good run to all known top brands... Probably, they're the Top Brand !! Leave 4k technology to grow for 5 years from now., as there is not much content available right now... same technology leap as in the case for HD.. Save the money that you'll pay for 4k TV and you'll able to buy 4k TV with plenty of options by adding few hundreds in 5 years time... Just my 2 cents !!
  17. If I were you, I'll solder them and heat shrink the joint. This way there are good chances for these cables' copper and the joint to stay intact for long years. If you don't have solder gun and wire at your disposal, take it to nearby repair shop and I'm sure they'll do it for less than $10. Good Luck
  18. Beautiful pictures... RF-83 did sound velvety, but missed the boat to buy them... While, RF-7 II deliver amazing sound (and bass), it's lacking midrange when I compared to Palladium P-39F. I'm still in search of the culprit !!!
  19. While I understand that size i.e. space is the constraint, but my first preference will be Heresy like other forum members have mentioned. I see you have Klipsch SC-20, Klipsch RC-25 and Klipsch KSC C-1 already in different rooms. I would recommend to check them out one by one with Heresy and see which one sings to your ears. If none of them work for you then take both Heresy to nearby Klipsch Authrised Dealer and check them out with Klipsch centers available for audition. Klipsch RC 64 II is really a nice one, but not sure (1) it will fit in the space and (2) if its sonic signature will match with Hersey's Good Luck
  20. Yes, it's true that it makes difficult to place RF-7 II with feel sticking out and touches the wall. Would have been nice if Klipsch had given an option to flip and allow to mount rears identical to fronts (all four bronze rings/feet equi-distance from the corners). I have angled wide and surrounds near the walls and it reduces the issue. Not to mention, it also reduces a possibility of cabinet to bump in to the wall. The one near to the center channel as Front Right and Front Left is fine! It could be that Klipsch would have not thought that some one would use RF-7 II in other configuration.
  21. Hi akdave! Yes! The only Professional Review I've seen so far was in a German Audio magazine. A very nice review praising the capabilities of RF-7 IIs. However, haven't seen any other professional review... In a way it doesn't matter as Klipsch is NOT a new name in Speaker Industry! I have auditioned B&Ws, Martin Logan, Polk, JBL, Yamaha, Sony, Jamo, Mirage, all Klipsches except their Heritage series, Paradigm, and so on... However, IMO there are no other speakers have such a high sensitivity, efficiency, dynamic range and pristine as Klipsch RF-7 IIs. Since we have got the first pair haven't used in-built speakers of TV. Between RF-7 IIs and RC-64 II the HT shines and works pretty good for stereo too. We've no complains what so ever and I'm quite sure you would enjoy them as well for years - as long as you like "Horn" - although RF-7 IIs are quite sweet and it seems Klipsch has taken care of some of the -ve "fatiguing" comments through the crossover and speaker - they are not at all fatiguing and we use them for hours... There are so many Klischers here on the forum who have bought Klipsch RF-7 IIs as well as RC 64 II and I've yet to see ONE negative comment or short coming - what more I can say! That said, even if there were professional reviews, they would have the best set up (audio gear and room treatment) and in that case you would wonder if these speakers would sound good in your home / room or not! At the end of the day, if speakers that can deliver in so many different types of arrangement and rooms in the real world, that says it all! While I did go through same for few months (before and after the purchase) as I didn't see any reviews here in USA., but don't think about it and just enjoy them...Believe me, it's worth waiting for - While, it's finally a personal preference, I hope you will fall in love just like all of us over here!!! Enjoy!
