OP, you need to be doing AC measurements, not DC. Who cares if there is a 1 millivolt DC difference in your AVR outputs. Speakers do not like any DC voltage but a tiny amount they will usually tolerate. Your meter needs to be set at the 200 or 600 V AC scale. The lower setting (200V) will be more accurate(as pointed out by MustangGuy) and should suffice for your AVR outputs. Oh and Welcome to the Klipsch Forum........ and the madness.

+ 1 on sealing the bass bin to the walls with pipe foam. I bought a pair of used KHorns in 1988 went over 20 years without doing this, did not know any better. Also time aligning the tweeter with mid- DO IT. This also I did not know to do until recently. Now I am just starting down the path to get all three drivers aligned with a digital crossover.

For those of you who own Klipsch Pro(or Cinema) speakers. Is the paint finish smooth? If someone was crazy enough could you veneer over it pretty easily for a more home friendly version of the speaker? Or is the finish rough and would take a lot of prep work?

Could you hook two speakers in parallel across the + outputs of 2 amps and invert the signal into one of the amps?

In the past year and a half I've been able to pick up a pair in cherry in real good condition for $650 for one and $750 for the other. So yea $1500 for 2 is Ok but maybe a little high. If they are in great condition I would not haggle over $100. But with these you have to want black.

Not much to say here but if the output is -14db from the input that is not an amplifier its an attenuator. The same function could be accomplished with a direct box.
