  1. "No and I don't know how you took that meaning from what I posted" Cal Blacksmith, I think it is from what you posted in post #2. It is somewhat ambiguous and more than just me didn't understand if you were expecting help from us here on the forum or if you had called Tech Support at Klipsch.
  2. Any protector damaged by a surge was undersized and ineffective. Effective protectors work during microsecond currents. And remain functional after every surge. Any protector that 'sacrifices' itself is how near zero protectors are promoted to naive consumers. No effective protector protects by failing .. after a surge has done damage. If a protector is leaking current, then its protector part degrades quickly into a short circuit (blowing a fuse) or into an open circuit. Either way, it does not explain a ground loop. OP should identify the ground loop (A connected to B connected to C connected to A) before accusing one part only on speculation - ie a protector. I stand by my post as a POSSIBILITY. As in "if it happens it must be possible". IF there was a surge protector in circuit when the lightning strike occurred and now there is a hum problem it must be eliminated as a POSSIBILE cause of the NOW occurring problem. This is pretty standard troubleshooting protocol. JEESH.
  3. Yea but the lightning strike could have partially damaged the surge protector devices in the power strip(if it has them), now causing a small current to flow to ground that was not flowing before the lightning strike. That is what they are there for, to get damaged instead of your expensive equipment. This is not rocket science but it is electrical engineering. Anyway that is why I wanted to know if the power strip had surge protection and if it did has the OP tried eliminating or replacing it.
  4. I'll bet DJK will have a more definitive answer but it sounds like one or more stages in the amp is unstable (or becomes unstable) as the power rails are dropping and goes into oscillation.
  5. Cal Blacksmith, you have been asking for help here on the forum? Or calling Klipsch Tech Support?
  6. Have you tried eliminating the power strip? Or a new power strip? Does power strip have "overvoltage/surge protection"? I also find it very curious that you had no problem until there was a lightning storm and now you have a ground issue. Sorry for being late to this thread
  7. Yes I did mean that exactly LOL And to this Question If I enter this code into my Z80 will i simulate a new universe? 4e 6f 20 62 75 74 20 69 74 20 69 73 20 66 75 6e 20 74 79 70 69 6e 67 20 69 6e 20 63 6f 64 65 20 69 66 20 49 20 77 61 6e 74 20 49 20 63 61 6e 20 73 61 79 20 74 68 65 20 77 6f 72 64 20 41 53 53 20 61 6e 64 20 69 74 20 77 6f 6e 27 74 20 67 65 74 20 46 6c 61 67 67 65 64 20 4c 4f 4c OMG its alive! Do you have the female version?
  8. Jubs with grills? Maybe added by owner? Or its a clone?
  9. This guy has a wonderful choice of custom made speakers and he has that crappy choice in wall hangings? OK fess up, who's are these? I gotta think its a forum member
  10. Steve_S did you mean: 49 20 4C 6F 76 65 20 74 68 69 73 20 6F 75 74 20 6F 66 20 74 68 65 20 62 6F 78 20 74 68 69 6E 6B 69 6E 67 If I enter this code into my Z80 will i simulate a new universe?
  11. Do these grown men actually get paid money to come up with this nonsense? Like I said before pure BS, of course IMHO. Hack off your arm and as you bleed to death tell me how simulated you are.
  12. Thebes, There are certain tasks which one must have a scope to troubleshoot. Analog AC waveform signal tracing is one of them very near the top of the list. Sure you might get lucky and fix it with just a meter, heck you might just shake a loose connection on one of the tube sockets and fix it. For noise and hum issues it is best to work from the output back towards the input. But for no signal or weak signal I prefer the "halfway" approach. Apply an input signal and there is no or little output. Pick the spot in your estimation (from schematics hopefully) that is "halfway" between input and output. Is there signal there? 1) No, then you know it is closer to the input so go "halfway" again towards the input. Or 2)Yes there was signal "halfway" you know the problem is closer to the output so go "halfway" again towards the output. etc......etc.......etc.......
  13. What a bunch of BS. I am a figment of someones imagination. Pure BS
  14. Watch out for that carlooch guy, he'll have you building an IB sub or some monster horn
  15. The dogs (and coyotes) are howling in my neighborhood
  16. So Arash, who's horns are these?
  17. Ah...better be the cats pajamas for 900 bones
  18. Thanks Dave. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in your work is very impressive. :emotion-21: on Dave's work. ALKs networks too. Mancave Man, any comments on what changes the new woofer made?
  19. My company does. And it is not a profit center. Although we hope the good will generates more sales.
  20. Ah... I'm ignorant as far as these things (MWMs I mean) go but can't a person still buy these from Klipsch brand new? 30 grand?
  21. Isn't that from the beetles?
  22. Dear God man it's just RTV (Dow Corning 732) Black (Christ, next time I'll use Grey). I'm of the less technical here so bear with me. Is this structural, to reduce vibration or have some other purpose? Its got to survive the KHorn good vibrations
  23. Still readily available. Finding them in the same place with an RC is harder...though RC remains available in the big grocery stores. Dave Shoulda checked before blurbing. Sorry my bad. But .... its been forever since I had one
