I doubt these logos are painted - I have some of these and they seem to be heat stamped -

Can you find a shop with a bead blaster? Car machine shops use them to safely bead blast metal, including pistons and valves using some kind of sand material. I think the newer versions use chopped walnut as the abrasive material.
