  1. Mainly yes. All new electrolytic caps including the big main filter caps, relays, bias trimmers, some of the hot running pass transistors, and relay drivers. I also see allot of VD style diodes that will need replaced. They are 34 years old and all original. I have worked on about all the vintage amplifiers, but have never seen these before. Can't wait to plop them in the system for testing
  2. That one looks right
  3. Tint don't look color matched.
  4. Awhile back a customer contacted me to see if I would take these things on for restoration. After being turned down by a couple other technicians, and the simple fact that he actually has these things, I said I would tackle them. I like the abuse. These are Class A monsters making 100WPC @ 8 ohms. These things running will heat a small house. They were in working condition upon receipt, all the way from Flushing Mi, and I am fixing to dig in. Wish me luck! I might even post some pics along the way.
  5. I'm really good at through hole! Just ask my wife.
  6. Secret because there just aren't any I am still using my first pair also. Test like the day I plopped them in the amps almost 8 years ago.
  7. Yep. Best 12AU7 there is. Quite special tubes that will last forever.
  8. It is in line. Very expensive preamp there.
  9. Whoever got these is DONE buying amps... I have the same setup myself, with the Magnequest Iron, and they are unbelievable.
  10. Any vintage tube that lights up is worth $10... Excellent deal here!
  11. I like the Tacoma. It is almost full size, and has been the sweetest looking pickup since the first one came out IMO
  12. Finish this statement please The hard thing to come to terms with is that the room is the most important part of the system. For a fraction of your system price Rodney, you could have a room built.
  13. No doubt your sinus issue could be at fault. Is it all tracks that you play or just some? What I have found that works quite well is pulling one speaker out, the one you want the center image to go towards, like 1/2" at a time until it is right. Or you could push the other speaker back, the one you want the center image to go away from, and do the same thing.
  14. Yep. Upscale is great. I have had a couple issues with output tubes, and they don't question it at all, and just sent more out. I have had better luck with Doug's though for output tubes in the context of reliability. That, and they have the output tubes I like.
  15. Nothing plays a horn, like a horn....
  16. These amps have more staying power in my system than anything else. The Magnequest upgrade takes these to a place where only the best amplifiers dwell. No joke.
  17. Solomon SL-20 has been a real workhorse for me. Been using one for decades. MCM has one with Tenma branded on it. Highly recommend this one! http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/TENMA-21-147-/21-147

  19. I haven't seen a bad Bourne yet, although Matt Damon Bourne's are the best. I watch them all from time to time. Have all of them on BR
