  1. Exactly my point. Yeah I have a LSI split for my center. Jason STR is right on the money. I'd rather move a split than a conjoined any day (since my L and R are conjoined).
  2. https://greenville.craigslist.org/ele/5344216466.html No affiliation. These are only about 10 minutes away from me if anyone is interested.
  3. I started watching more and more MMA. Helps fill the gap that the NFL no longer can. I remember the Monday Night (or maybe it was Sunday night) segment called "Jacked up" about powerful hits in the NFL. While I think C'mon Man is funny, I still like Jacked Up better.
  4. Just like auditioning speakers that sound best to your ears, try to see which TV looks the best to your own eyes. Yeah, someone may scoff at your for having a 4K TV...but your eyes may perceive visual quality better than theirs. I love golf and the Golf Channel looks so much better on my sister's 4K TV than it could ever hope to look on my 1080P TV. A piece of measuring equipment may say that something should look better. But to you, does it actually look better? Is 4K mainstream? Nope. But there are also people who give La Scalas 250 watts too. My point? Overkill is underrated. 4K TVs help me view 1080p Blurays in a much higher quality. But that's what I see. Am I concerned about longevity of a TV? Gimme 5-7 years and I'm good. But that's just me. Paying $1500-2000 every 5-7 years to have something that visually wows me is no problem...because I value it. I've used the first person "I" and "me" and "my" a lot. Just my point of view. YMMV.
  5. My Clemson Tigers won today, but it was ugly. If we play like that against UNC, we'll lose by 30+.
  6. We demo'd scene 4 of Lone Survivor (where the Chinooks and Apaches deal out some serious bass when inserting the 4 man Seal team). For me personally sitting at the MLP, the 24s made an overall experience...ie...the whole house was shaking...upstairs, pictures were falling off the walls. With the measuring equipment on hand, the 24s dealt out reference level 6Hz bass and it was ridiculous. When switched back to the 8 SIs and 2 HSTs nearfield, the bass felt closer and more powerful...and his system was flat to 10Hz. To me, I want the nearfield subs...almost regardless of what I have up front. Having 2 HST 18s firing in your back (and I mean less than 6") being fed by 2000 watts RMS is awesome. The first row of seating where the nearfield 18s fired into was much more powerful than the second row with no nearfield. A happy compromise might be a single 24 up front with dual 18s nearfield. At least in that room, that's what I'd want. But that's just me.
  7. I got to experience 8 SI 18s in front and 2 SI HST 18s right behind the MLP for nearfield yesterday. That was pretty dang impressive. The gunshots in John Wick were very impactful. He had Danley SH 50s for LR and a Danley 69 for the center. His system was flat to 10Hz at reference no problem. The two SI 24s were just for testing purposes, but those things are powerhouses as well. There wasn't enough power coming into the house to power both the 24s and the 18s at once...but we did have plenty of amps to power both. Edit - added picture.
  8. I see that you are in western Kentucky...whenever the AVS Forum decides to get up and running, I'll post a link to where Josh Ricci is selling his two original GJallarhorns loaded with the LMS Ultra for $1150 a piece, $2300 for both. He's in Louisville. Edit: http://data-bass.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/11-equipment-for-sale/page-4 Scroll down and you'll see Ricci's post the Ghorns along with a few other things.
  9. I agree it's awesome, now in laymans terms, where and how the hell do I build it? Mark You bring your truck/trailer down to Knoxville....and we load two of them (a bit knicked up I'll admit) onto your trailer and you drive off. Save the sawdust for someone else. Man - don't tempt me with that. I mean, I already have the truck and trailer...and am only 3 hours away in Greenville...and have wanted to grab these and go get some 402s. Rather than incrementally upgrade, I figure I could save myself some stepping stones along the way. Boy that escalated quickly.
  10. "Klipsch Forum: Making and Breaking Families Since 2004" I got divorced eight months after joining this forum. draw your own conclusions. I only made it 4 months after joining before I got divorced. Hahaha
  11. 2011 F-150 4x4 Ecoboost Lariat with leather and max tow. Loving it! Drove it from Buffalo NY (got to see Niagara Falls) to my home in Greenville SC.
  12. About the same, ~5 watts, and almost entirely in the sub channel. ~100mV across the L,C, & R at wide-open throttle. The discussion between amps and "How much?" often falls short because what's really at play is often times not power delivery, but rather the transient behavior of each device. Almost no data, from any manufacturer, is ever provided in that regard. Even fewer people have the tools, knowledge, and time to investigate that, in particular case by case. There's a lot more to it than just raw, calculated power numbers. Oh I agree Quiet_Hollow! That's where my own particular experience changes and I'll be the first to admit it. There is more than just numbers - it's about the experience. I was just curious to know how much power I was actually using. For me - the audio experience is still amazing and powerful, but I just don't need as much power as I thought I needed. I haven't changed anything in the way I operate my system - but wanted to share my findings.
  13. If I get my hands on some solid extension cords, I'll hook up my Sherbourn 7X150 amp and report my findings. So far, my sound quality is outstanding IMO, but who knows - maybe the Sherbourn "outboard" will make a difference. Heck - at my current power usage rate, I could put it on the same breaker for shiggles. However, I'll admit this - I'm jaded to thinking that in my current room and setup, I don't need an external amp. For me, letting my HK3600 do the grunt work, I get more than enough punch and power to my La Scalas. Maybe if I moved to a much larger room then I would benefit from external amplification. I mean - I have 3 La Scalas sitting (at the max) 7.5 feet from me. Enjoying the discussion! I'm always eager to learn and hear from others!
  14. I was curious to know what kind of power from the outlet I was drawing at idle vs. movie-listening levels. Much thanks to ellisr63 for getting my thoughts churning. I ordered a P3 Kill A Watt from Newegg.com to roughly see what I was using. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001). I have a HK 3600 as my AVR and my room is 12 X 30. My listening position is 7' from 3 La Scalas. I have a 7.2 configuration. Sides are Sony SSF-5000s and rears are some cheap @ss speakers I got for free. Just trying to give all of my variables. When at idle (-50 on the HK), I am using 93 watts, give or take a watt. When at -15 through -20 on the HK which is the range for which I watch most of my movies , I am at 98 watts. It definitely surprised me that I am not using that much power between idle and "oh crap, this is gonna permanently cause damage to my hearing senses." Just wondering what yall see out there on how much you really need?
  15. Ellisr63 - I've been curious to know how much power I'm using as well. Last night I purchased an "International P4400" from Newegg for $20 with free shipping. I'm not trying to start a whole internal amp vs. external amp debate. I have a brand new in the box Sherbourn 7X150 amp sitting in the original packaging. I'd just have to run some serious extension cords to different outlets that are on different breakers in the house (not my house so hard to modify). Some here swear by external amps while others can use a Denon 4520 and still blow eardrums. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see what power I consume at idle vs the Hulk is gonna rip me apart. Feel free to comment - I'm still learning a lot.
  16. I'd be anxious to hear how the Pioneer Elites would compare to the HK 3600. I love my 3600, but I've almost pulled the trigger more than a few times on an Elite.
  17. Hey Youth, you still have those pictures you photoshopped with the RF7 IIs, but with 4 woofers? Not saying it's gonna happen, but those were still funny to see.
  18. It ain't pretty, but beauty is only a light switch away.
  19. no one would have lower level anything. opus and youth would find all the good deals, and a few guys in the klipschood would own trucks with covered trailers and we would all rotate out on trips around the county to pick up the absolute best deals on all the good gear. its just keeps sounding better and better in my mind. lol I'll volunteer to be one of the ones with a truck and covered trailer to go get the goods! Here we go!
  20. Sounds like a movie called The Truman Show
  21. Everyone says I need help and have a sickness they need to meet you lol How do the Heresies compare to the KPT 1201 as far as side or surround speakers go, in your opinion?
  22. Yeah the 671 will be good. I used a Yamaha 465 for a while and it drove my 3 LS just fine.
