  1. TTT John, thanks for jumping in on this for everyone (Gil, Brandon, Amy and the buyers).
  2. Yeah, I put the 301 back in service the other day. I hadn't listened to them for a few years. They sounded fantastic. I have to lol in that the KP301s are bookshelf speakers compared to the MCM1900, both in size and sound. 🤯
  3. Thanks I went with a Xilica XP3060 a couple of years ago. I still don't have the amps that I want, but most of the time I don't listen very loud.
  4. Okay, confession time: I had to google it and I have never watched it. I am not sure if it's a generation difference or if it's that I deliberately live under a rock. I try to not get worked up like I used to.
  5. IIRC, it was a heart attack. <found it>
  6. No news from dozens and dozens of great members since ~ 2020, and it's not because they died. FYI, BSM is still alive.
  7. Nice score. When I bought a pair of KPT684, I also bought a Crown 1502 amp because it has a built-in crossover. I can't say that I like the amp and if I had it to do over, I would buy an active x-over and an amp.
  8. and this should help. From the ad: 1971 silver eagle $3,000 3,000 or best offer Needs work. engine was rebuilt all that is left is belts intake hoses connected and fuel lines ran. perfect project bus can be turned into whatever you want. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/307334578442058/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks
  9. The specs look like the 262 II should be better, but, until we hear them, one never knows. I like the sound of the KP250 better than the KP250 II. Others changed the mid horns on the 250ii to make the ~ a KP250, and so did I.
  10. Last night, I pulled the KP456s out and replaced them with the 301s that I haven't listened to for a few years. As much as I like the 456, the 301's tweeters sparkled and it was quite pleasing to my ears to hear the live oscillating sounds of the cymbals and bells. I haven't AB the 301 to the 362. I predict that they each have their advantages: the 362 with the better mids and the 301 in that they aren't so placement-picky.
  11. I didn't picture listening to Time, and better yet, the whole LP, there, but you're right, that would be cool. Time does start with an assortment of chimes, mostly bell and spring chimes, but there are some tubular notes in there too.
  12. Ignatius said “How dare you present such abortions to the public.” ― John Kennedy Toole, A Confederacy of Dunces < more quotes I love that book and need to read it again. This is crossing the line and shouldn't be called klipsch or Klipsch. From the ad: Prototype klipsch concerto, read the add (ad) if it’s posted it’s available well basically 1978 Hersey with a folded horn kinda a small lascalla? Better than old Hersey bigger cabinets with top hats off they really wide sounding. There (they are or they're) heavy, would be awesome man cave speakers. Tweeter is out of 1978 lascalla mid from 78 Hersey and woofer crossovers for forte 1 1985 so lower crossover point more bass with bigger cabinets. Some bucks worth of parts alone if add (ad) is up it’s available other gear in pictures not for sale,,,,,,,,,,
  13. I vote to skip the CH3 and go straight to a V4 and give it the newest/better mid-horn that's in the C4 and x-overs.
  14. Nice video, thanks for posting. Cool to hear, a couple of times (13:18 & 23:21), the tubular chimes from his clock. His woodworking shop and furniture proves that he was a real hands-on producer, not someone who waited for others to do it for him. Not everybody has what looks like a 2-yard concrete mixer in their garages in case they want to do a weekend project.
  15. A few years ago I had a pair of KP362 and I sold them, then I had seller's remorse. I have since bought a new-to-me pair and am happy again. I have enjoyed the changes that I have made to my KP362 and the 362 II could stant the changes too.
  16. How many miles of caulk would it take to rope up a K-402? [] Coytee - 2006 lol The fact is definitely, maybe. There are so many variables, such as our hearing; the amp we use; the recording itself, and a lot more. As long as we're not tricking ourselves, I am all for making what we enjoy sound better.
  17. I have some damping on some of my horns, but I have never tried to take any off (nor do I want to). I have read that it does not come off easily and that it takes the pain with it. As you can see in Carl's picture, the matting does not need to go all of the way to the throat. Here is a thread about the rope caulk and removing the Dynamat. I thought it was funny.
  18. I had to LOL at those statements. Some people are known as SPECIAL ME.
  19. Yeah, the seller's statements are setting people up in both the care for and the price of the speakers.
  20. I agree with your entire statement and I only want to comment and enquire about Sunlight and finishes. As some already know, the Sun will darken Cherry and bleach / fade Walnut, regardless of the protective finish = keep them from direct Sunlight. With an oil finish, new oil will reseal to protect the veneer and bring the color back: easy fix. I know that polyurethane finish, though a lot more durable than oil, can still fade due to UV, oxidation, and such, but a new coat can't simply be applied to an old coating. I have never refinished any furniture that had a polyurethane or lacquer finish, but I have studied in woodworker's magazines, Google U, and YouTube University. My question is, has anyone here refinished furniture that had a polyurethane finish?
