  1. Yeah, but we're all used to that.
  2. Yep, AA crossovers, round magnet k77s and push pin k55s.
  3. The last bid was 500 for all three but was able to get a small discount once I saw them in person. There is some water damage especially on the Belle. There is one bad woofer in of the lot. Its dcr is good but sounds horrible. The rest of the drivers are ok. The crossovers are AK and an AB so they will need replaced. I'll post photos when I can.
  4. Thank you everyone for all of the kind comments. These are now sold.
  5. Me too brother. I thaw mine just enough to quarter it up and then back into the freezer then I'll cook smaller portions later on in the year. This year my wife and I are going out. http://www.dhgroup.com/restaurants/der-dutchman-bellville-oh
  6. The tag is long faded, but definitely mahogany. This was one of three speakers that were for sale in the columbus area in early October. There is another khorn and a Belle, all orphans. The other k is a 1970 KCMR which is also mahogany and just as rough. I had to disassemble the top hats to transport the home. In the 2nd pic it is just loosely assembled. All speakers received regular updates with the last one in the late 80s.
  7. I haven't open the bass bin as of yet. The tweeter is a square magnet and the mids are k55m. The mid horn has been changed too. The seller provided some documentation as when the components were changed. The crossover (AK) is a mess and needs a complete overhaul. I realise that this speaker will probably won't be restored to its original components.
  8. Thank you, I have seen that pdf before. The seller provided some documentation. He believes it was purchased in 56. But my research shows that the number letter format started in August 55. It could be the he purchased a showroom model or it was NOS or he just has his dates wrong.
  9. I have a single khorn s/n 1030. It is in rough shape but is a collared version and under the top hat is some veneer that is still in pristine condition. I believe it to be magonhagy. Is there any info as to the original buyer, finish and driver complements?
  10. I have a 2000 civic bought with 30 k miles that only got Dino oil change every 3000 mi when the wife didn't let it go too long. The car now has 250k and still running strong. I don't know what viscosity honda recommends. I always uses either 10w30 or 10w40 Penzoil and the dreaded orange can of death aka the El cheapo fram filter. Never bought synthetic or even tried it on a dare. But I am one that likes carburetors with a manual choke over fuel injection.
  11. Sorry but I don't have that answer as to which is better. I've haven't made anything using mdf. I was just commenting on how my 1975 Belles were constructed using Popular as the core. There are several Amish sawmills, flooring shops, cabinet makers near me that I have used for some projects. Poplar is often used where an inexpensive, easy to work hardwood is called for. The flooring shop does an excellent gluing up panels and planing to thickness.
  12. That Web site says that the lumber core "plywood" are mostly found on imported panels. The species used for the core is an unknown and may have knots and other defects covered by the veneer. Yellow Popular is simular to hard maple as a cabinet material.
  13. Prior to mdf being introduced in the 80s Belles were constructed of solid core lumber (yellow popular) panels then veneered with walnut, oak or whatever was ordered.
  14. On my phone the mods have a chess peice next to their screen name
  15. There is still something to salvage here. dwi lawyer has offer to change his screen name for a $500 donation to the museum. I for one am contemplating selling some gear to fund this honor.
  16. Just learn how to use the forum. If I cannot drive a manual transmission I don't blame the car. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  17. A respectful snip I never see the signiture line on the Tapatalk version of the forum. For the full version there is a way to hide that line if you don't want to see it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
