Another option is to use a k23 from the original Fortes. It is a 4 ohm like a k28. The k23 might be found cheaper than a new k28 or the crites woofer.

Slightly different models but here is what worked for me. I installed k75 magnets into a tangent 400. Using the same lens I had to open the cut-out in the cab so that the magnet would pass though. The tangent 400 has H2 drivers in a larger cabinet. Played sid by side the larger magnet is more sensitive and might have to be tamed a bit.

Before ups will insure a package it must be able to withstand a 4 foot drop. And I think they give insured packages that specific test.

Help! Different EV N/DYM 1-16 diaphragms?

There are 2 sets of numbers in the first pic. I believe one is a inspection date and the inspectors initials. The n -numbers might be the manufacture date by the machine operator -
I think these might be in Charleston WVa. http://charlestonwv.craigslist.org/ele/4822224277.html Heresys also http://charlestonwv.craigslist.org/ele/4731832565.html

My favorite cover would be anybody that tries to sing the Star Spangled Banner correctly as opposed to those who intentionally mess it up.

Here is a nice pair of H1s, cane grills to boot http://youngstown.craigslist.org/ele/4793938409.html. I think a fourm member might be selling these, Forte 1s. same foot print as the Heresys but with deeper bass. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/ele/4807075865.html -
You are pretty close to these. You might be able to get a demo even if you dont end up buying. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Forte-Main-Upgraded-to-Klipschorn-Sonics-/151489614503?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item23457c12a7

i am not sure what your Kenwood unit is - or what it can do - but if you are not connecting them correctly - it will damage one or the other or both - speakers and amp or AVR etc, - you have to really try to use a amp which can handle 4 ohms - you cant match 4 ohm speakers to a an amp or any unit that can only do 8 ohms - it will run hot at the least and shut down - blow the amp - and can even damage speakers - you want alot of power clean - no distortion going to the speakers - That picticular amp has a switch for either 4 or 8 ohm operation. The T/S for the Forte 1 woof is 3.4DCR. If you measure before the crossover add in the 3mH coil(.3 ohms?) and it is still below 4.
-
I am sorry for the confusion. If I connect Fortes to the 8 ohm tap on the amp, the amp will run hotter than if connected to the 4 ohm tap. I was using Fortes and Tangent 400s on a Kenwood 150 wpc and that configuration blew the transformer.
-
The K23 woofer in the Forte 1 is 4 ohm. Fortes will make my amps run hot if set for 8 ohm speakers.
-
I took a pair of Tangent 400s (front ports), installed passives from KG4s and plugged the ports. It helped the lower bass responce and extension but the speakers dont image as well as befere the changes. I think there must have been some midrange leaking through the ports.

Its a single but an excellent price. Someone grab this thing.

I have a pair of Heathkit EA-3 mono amps, also a late 50s design. 14watts I dont think they are noisy at all. But I wouldnt trade La Scalas to get them either

Plexiglass is brittle compared to other plastics. I prefer to use PVC. It glues easily and it is available in a few colors. It is much tougher than plexi and still easy to work with. It can be heated in oil with an old deepfryer to make bends or pressed into forms. -
First time Klipsch owner - Forte I's, looking for wisdom

For the grill grommets just pop them out and apply a little black rtv. wont even be noticable. +1 for the Ti mids. -
Anyone else using Multi-channel stereo instead of stereo?

I prefer the 2 ch mode with both of my AV preamps, Rotel RSP 1068 and Adcom GTP550 -
Are there any other tweeter lenses that will work with that diaphragm? Perhaps a KG4?, still exponential but a bit larger. KG5.5 and KG4.2 has tractrix horn would either of them work? last night I swapped tweeters with a Forte and a RC3 and thought the Forte tweeter had more output than the RC. I guess the question is what is the largest lens that Klipsch used with that tweeter dia.? Matt
