  1. Thanks, Well both the wood veneer sets are made right here in the USA. The black ones were made in china to a higher standard for sale in the UK and other places but not available in the USA. I think they were trying to send a message to B&W for some reason. They go up to 80k hertz. Very heavy and well made. They did make a bigger (taller) version of these with two woofers. The triangle were designed by Dan Anagnos that has worked for Polk Audio in the past and were compared to "Wilson Watt Puppies for Vandersteen prices". I personally have not owned a more precise speaker. More lively or bright but everything is heard with these. I have heard things in recordings on these that I just cant hear on other speakers. But they are picky on the associated equipment. They are one inch thick MDF, ridiculously internally braced with no parallel surfaces for minimal coloration. Huge sound stage just unbelievable, I will keep these for a long time, and still my fav speaker. They also made a bigger two woofer version of this as well, I have heard it and did not like it as much because it was a ported design, it had more bass but seemed to be a little boomy compared to mine. Since I pair these with a quality sub I really don't care how much bottom end a speaker has. The new ones I got are certainly no slouch either. A little brighter but not shrill or fatiguing. they sound great too. definitely a detailed speaker. Bass is nice and deep for a single 8" I'm not kidding when I say they give the Forte II's a run for their money in the bass department, well at normal listening levels, The Klipsch will kill them at extreme levels, that's why I love them. All I have done to them is clean them up and add some spikes. I imagine I will keep all three pair for long time as they just do not come up for sale too often.
  2. You read that right. I have been on this journey since I was 8 and have been through hundreds of speakers and a ton of gear. some of it was high dollar stuff too. A while back I found an add for some Sony ES SS M-7 speakers. After some research I headed down and picked them up. When I got them home to my surprise they sounded better than my Infinity quantum line source speakers. So I sold the Infinities and latter on I found some Sony SS-X70ED speakers with a matching center. Looks like some B&W speakers but we wont get into that, they sound really good too. I really like the center, it jut sounds better more natural than any other I have had and it blends well with the other speakers and my Forte II's as well. The main speakers have a woven Kevlar fiber 6 1/2" mids and a 6 1/2" bass, cast aluminum tops and a metal dome tweeter. And the other day I found some Sony SS-TL5 speakers on CL. thankfully they were way more than I wanted to spend and too far away so I resisted until another pair came up closer and cheaper than the first so I had to go take a look. They were in really excellent shape considering they came out of the late 80'2 early 90's. Real wood veneer 8" rear firing woofer coupled to a transmission line. a 6.5" mid-bass, a 4.5" mid and a 1" titanium tweeter. pretty big and heavy. all the surrounds are rubber woofer cone is just paper while the others appear to be treated paper. Sound is awesome, on the higher end of neutral. Clear, defined, detailed, great sound stage and imaging. I have been busy and have not had time to listen to them as much as I would like. Dont worry I still have some vintage Klipsch on my radar but kind of thin stock for right now, really liking my Forte II's for right now and they are set up in the 2.1 room. I really like the Sony's because of their sound and you can usually find great deals on them, also most people don't think Sony ever made any speakers that were worth a damn but they're wrong. These would be nice to try if I had 27k to spend. http://www.stereophile.com/content/sony-ss-ar1-loudspeaker Anyway thats about it, enjoy or loath the pics.
  3. My 2 channel room has one chair placed smack dab in the middle of the speakers, I have no problem sitting for hours at a time. In the 6.1 home theater room the center of the couch is in the middle, I have a 2 ch mode on my receiver and a separate amp for my mains. I firmly place my @$$ there and don't move, some music actually immobilizes me with the sound stage, detail, you get the picture. Even when I watch concert videos I usually listen in stereo, it just sounds better, more natural to me.
  4. Wow, so sorry to hear, sorry for your loss.
  5. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/145212-forte-ii-vs-chorus/page-3 Post #49 is a picture of how I attached my washers. I scuffed them up with 36 grit sand paper to give the glue a better bite. I would imagine it would make an annoying buzzing sound before it fell of but pretty sure mine never will.
  6. I only used Stainless steel because we have a bunch at work, cant beat free. Now after reading my post from last night I realize I had too much to drink, lol.
  7. I contemplated the mid but Bob told me that not everyone likes the mid upgrade so I left it alone. I don't know who did the X-overs, all Sonic caps. I just adds some stainless washers to the passives 2.4 oz and it just made the bass a little deeper or fuller. All in all positive and inexpensive upgrades, I used hot glue to secure the washers so its completely irreversible. The higher risers made a huge difference IMO. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/145212-forte-ii-vs-chorus/page-3
  8. I got my Forte II's with upgraded X overs and Ti tweeters. I did the weight to the passives and made some better stands, they never leave me wanting. and I have owned LOTS of speakers.
  9. With my Forte II's pretty loud sometimes but non fatiguing.
  10. I live in Loveland to the north of you and my poor car did not want to get going this morning. I am ready for summer.
  11. I got this as a gift by my wife for Christmas, I got around to listening to it today and was completely mesmerized, astounding that a band nearly 50 years old, only 2 members left in their 60's and have not made an album in 20 years can sound so good. I know the story behind the album, its a great tribute. I listened to it three times today on both of my rigs and am sure I will listen to it tomorrow. I went on Amazon and ordered every album of theirs that I don't have. I really don't care about this Waters Gilmour controversy, I still like the new stuff without Waters and glad that they did not call it quits when he left. Anyway a great album, nice and relaxing.
  12. I was considering building roughly the same thing and was wondering what you thought of this set up? I would use the amp without boost as I mainly listen to music. What were you planning on building next? Thanks, and good luck.
  13. I knew you would sell them eventually. Liquid nails works better on re-gluing and sealing those older Klipsch cabinets. Good Luck
  14. Congratulations! Welcome to the Forte II club
  15. Funny story, after reading this today I remembered seeing one of these on my local CL. So I contacted the guy and just went and picked it up, I wont say what I got it for here. I can see why you would not want to ship this, its a big heavy extremely well made sub. I personally could not understand needing two of these unless you earthquake proofed your house. Just insane amounts of deep bass. Good luck!
  16. What he said, and probably posting bank statements on a public forum is not a good idea.
  17. I have the 10" 400 watt later version of this sub and it is awesome, It gives the Sunfire a run for its money. GLWTS.

  20. I hate giving these guys money but for the price it was too good to pass up. 60" LG plasma 1080p for 598.00 Excellent picture http://www.walmart.com/ip/28419220?www=true&productRedirect=true Some reviews http://reviews.walmart.com/1336/28419220/lg-60-60pn5000-1080p-600hz-plasma-hdtv-reviews/reviews.htm
  21. I am getting one of these for my sub, it adds a hum when the TV is on, used cheater plug to isolate but don't want to chance as I just paid a bunch to have it fixed, I have had bad luck using RCA ground loop filters as they reduce the band width of the signal. I will let you all know if it works like it says it does when it comes in. http://www.ebtechaudio.com/humxdes.html
  22. I have owned both, not at the same time but really no comparison, I picked up the Mach Ones for 50 bucks, I got them home hooked them up and they hurt my ears so I sold them the next day to a friend at work for a garage system. I have no plans of ever getting rid of my Forte II's.
  23. It could have been a loose connector. Does the trans fluid smell like paint varnish? something you should always check when buying a used car with auto trans. And also as advised changing the fluid and cleaning it may cause it to slip. It happened to me on a 4 runner with about 100k on it so all I drive anymore is manual trans, clutches are cheaper and I can do those by myself, and nobody will steal it because not too many people know how to drive them anymore, lol. Hope it was the connector.
