So are you going to tell us what these special "non klipsch" speakers are? Shakey
  2. Wow. He considers 900.00 a lowball offer on Fortes? I think he'll be sitting on those for a while. Shakey
  3. Beautiful system and room. I bet that sounds great. Welcome to the forum. Shakey
  4. Tidal is all you need to know. You can thank me later.......
  5. I have a tradition of always playing a Mary Black seedee titled "Shine" when I get a new pair of speakers. It's a good litmus test and I'm very familiar with it. Good demo discs for me are (in no particular order): Alice In Chains "Unplugged" Blues Union (Joe Beard/Ronnie Earl) Dire Straits "Love Over Gold" Diana Jones "My Remembrance Of You" Tower of Power "Greatest Hits" Talking Heads "The Name of This Band is Talking Heads" Shakey
  6. Yeah, the ad leaves a little to be desired. But the prices aren't bad if the condition is good. Shakey
  7. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649527711-klipsch-klipschorns-khorn-klipschorn/ Not affiliated. Looks like a pretty good deal to me. Shakey
  8. Good advice, but......... Once the Forte owner hears how much better the Forte is than the Heresy, the trade will probably go bye-bye........... Shakey
  9. If you are joking, you really must be, you forgot to use your smiley. Shakey
  10. Don't forget that when one is asking such a price for a pair of speakers, just about everyone moves on when they don't see detailed pictures. Shakey
  11. You do whatever you like with your system. It's your system. Some are a little more serious about the end result. If that's not you, it's ok. No shame. A 78 Chevette will get you from point A to point B. So there's that............... Shakey
  12. Some people around here would buy retreads for a Bugatti.......... Shakey
  13. I agree. And that was one of the concerns I had that kept me on the fence about klipschorns for a long time. It turned out to be an unfounded fear. Laterally, they image as well as anything I've heard. They don't have quite the front to back depth and imaging of some of the better speakers I have owned. But what they do so well makes that very unimportant. Shakey
  14. I get that. Not everyone can have a dedicated room for music. Hopefully in the future you will be able to have such a luxury. I have a very understanding wife who has fully supported my hobby from day one. I get the best room in the house and she's ok with that. I am very fortunate. In your situation, most speakers will be compromised to some degree. I believe the Forte III is such a good product that it will deliver the same or more performance than any other contender in it's price range in such an environment. You are starting from a good place by buying a really good speaker. The rest comes in time. Shakey
  15. Rooms with an open floor plan are always going to be bass shy. And judging from the from all the hard reflective surfaces in that room, I bet the sound is somewhat shouty and lean. Even if you don't think it is, listening to the same system in a different room would bear that out. A better room (four adjacent walls) with carpet and more furniture would sound immensely better. Shakey
  16. Yes, it's a real thing. And yes, the fortes will get better with more hours on them.
  17. No and no. I don't think they will sound their "best" in a 12 ft. wide room. Probably still sound pretty good though. My room is about 15.5 ft wide and for me personally, I wouldn't want to go much smaller than that. As for the 19 ft. width, I think you are dangerously close to needing a center channel in a room that wide. And that is something I would never want to do. Shakey
  18. No, I didn't miss it. But he's been MIA for five weeks. Either they are sold, or he's not too interested. Shakey
  19. Relax folks. I predict these are long gone by now...........
  20. Paging ODS. ODS to the courtesy phone. ODS please pick up the white courtesy phone. Thank you.........
  21. Agreed. And DBT have suffered greatly since he left. It is clear that patterson hood wasn't the song writing genius in that band. And I was a huge fan of all their earlier work with Jason. Shakey
  22. The Forte III is an excellent speaker. I could have lived with it indefinitely if I hadn't decided to move on the khorns. Judging from the photo you posted, I think they will be the better fit in that room. Shakey
  23. Those are the exact forte IIIs I owned when I bought my klipschorns. I would have traded in a minute........ Shakey
