  1. I, for one, actually prefer the RF-35 over the RF-82. Only the RP-280f is a better sounding dual 8" copper tower, imo.
  2. ProMedias were also my first. I heard a demo at Best Buy and immediately ponied up for a set. I quickly realized that they sounded so good and clean because they were horn-loaded, albeit with tiny little horns. Started my journey right there and now I've probably owned 35 different klipsch models.
  3. I've heard both(KSP-300s) and would rather keep the KG4s. They delivered a surprising level of inner detail that the KSPs, and a lot of other klipsch models, cannot match. The only models I've owned with more detail were the KLF-20s and CF-4s.
  4. I'm not sure if you'd be able to sell those for any more than $300. I've bought multiple pairs of RB-5ii's and paid around $160-180 each time. I think a mint pair with boxes will max out around $250-300...at least in my market. I did really enjoy them though! They are SUPER smooth. Nearly too smooth, almost to the point of being a bit dim. I always appreciate the Klipsch models that have a distinctive sound. Those are the ones you never forget. It's because of this that the RB-5 absolutely trumps all other RB models with the sole exception of the RB-75. The RP-160m is such a drastically different design, it's hard to compare to the older tractrix horn RBs. I definitely do find it to be superior to the RB-5 though.
  5. Contact Hexa Packaging and Supplies. They made beautiful custom boxes for my RF-35s that were superior to any factory box I've seen. The measurements of the hexa "foam" was so spot-on, and it even had separate compartments for the grills. http://www.hexaps.com
  6. https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/msg/5582720092.html How do these look?
  7. I've ran them side by side, this isn't really the case.I have to disagree. While I haven't owned RF-7ii's, I've owned more than a dozen other RF and RB models(including the original RF-7), and the RP is dramatically smoother. So have you at least heard the RF-7ii's? The original RF-7's were harsh, period, most people couldn't stand listening to them long term without doing the very popular crossover modification. Not an issue with RF-7ii's. No, I can't say that I've ever really heard RF-7ii's. I was just comparing the new horns to all the old, plastic, tractrix horns. If the RF-7ii's are that much smoother, then they truly are the exception and maybe I should begin a quest for acquisition!
  8. That's 25x what I paid for mine
  9. Stopped by his house to pick up some RB-5s on my way to New York. Saw these KLFs in person. They're beautiful and sound exactly as you'd expect them to. He's a total Klipsch nut and previously had KLF-20s(?) for surrounds(or maybe it was another pair of 30s) and since replaced them with, I believe, KSP-S6s.
  10. Are you taking anything for it? For me this all started last Thanksgiving....had a cold, no big deal. Lasted about a week and it was gone. I noticed I had some crackling going on in my ears, no big deal but by the first week of January it kicked in big time. I wanted to pop my ears n the worst way. Just simply talking....or worst yet talking on the phone is like the sound wouldn't get out of my head. Incredibly frustrating. Anything that raises my heartbeat makes it like my heart is beating inside my head. Laying in bed at night keep thinking someone is pounding at the front door. I could maybe deal with that but when my stereo imaging is out of whack we got some serious problems.[emoji39] Went to the Doc and they got me on Sudafed and Flonase. After about a month of that crap with next to no improvement, I've been going it alone. Improvement.....but very little and sooooo slow. I hate having medicine in me. So right now I've got the right channel gain on my amp three clicks hotter than the left and it's not too bad. Sent from my SM-G920R4 using Tapatalk Good to know that I didn't waste my time going to a doctor. Through my own research, I found those very same "remedies". Tried the OTC Sudafed(psuedoephedrine) with virtually no results. Also tried Afrin because I didn't want to get a prescription for a steroidal nasal spray. I read that if the problem is still there after 6 months, then I need to visit an ENT to discuss further options...
  11. If you daisy chain both speakers to one channel in a series wiring connection, you'd actually increase resistance to 16 ohms and reduce load on the amp. If you wire them as a parallel connection, then you'd drop resistance to 4 ohms. This may be fine, but if there are already dips in the speaker's resistance, the amp may be seeing resistance as low as 2 ohms and trip the protection circuit. I like the idea of splitting the center signal from the preamp much better if you have amp channels to spare.
  12. Man, my ears have been messed up for about three months now from a sinus cold. It's SLOWLY been getting better, but my left ear is still afflicted with ringing, higher noise floor, lower noise ceiling, and that stuffed feeling that drives me crazy trying to pop it. I haven't enjoyed, or really listened to, my speakers in months! :'(
  13. You mean empty cabinets? Or the original shipping boxes?
  14. KG 5.5's usually go for somewhere around $250-$350. I'd say the friend price is $150-$200.
  15. They sound better straight forward rather than toed-in?
  16. ya got me. But the seller told me that the tops were gone when he bought them. It's definitely just the bass bins.
  17. Sometimes you need to separate the music from the sound.
  18. I think these are just a pair of LaScala bass bins. No affil. https://denver.craigslist.org/ele/5548365458.html If anybody's interested, I have the seller's phone #.
  19. Not to mention the terrible names...
  20. That A-300 looks to be right up my alley
  21. The RP-280FA come in nice wood veneer finishes. ;-)
  22. Not surprising for a $99 Insignia. Returned it immediately.
