  1. Rain missed us so far. I saw what looked like a small micro-burst full of lightning down your direction. Wish some of it had made it this far. We had to settle for rumbling and a little lightning.

Those are nice areas, I prefer the desert personally (or I wouldn't be here). You're correct, the monsoons are very important for the water and the good the water does. It's Oasis like here at the moment. (South of Tucson, 40 minutes from the Border).

You must have missed Monsoon season which is what we are in the midst of now. Arizona is amazingly green, the desert plants are blooming and even the animals are enjoying the difference. Yep its hot, and usually dry. Nebraska is much more unpleasant when it is 90 than Arizona is when its 105. I like the Gulf area also, but I love the desert. Good thing we aren't all trying to live in the same place.
  4. A little Pretenders for a Sunday afternoon. Don't often listen, but when I do...
  5. I did hear it on a couple of occasions-it was as amazing to see as it was to hear. I remember seeing them working on it right up to the beginning of the concert. The Dead always were (and still are IMHO ahead of the curve when it comes to presenting great sound to an audience.
  6. Same here, but my three are going to my daughter and son-in-law this month, along with all the other stuff for a good intro to music better than they are used to hearing. They finally figured it out.
  7. Either are great and I've owned both though not at the same time. Have new Forte III's and don't find the tweeter objectionable at all-though have a friend who did and removed the upgrade from his Forte II's as well. I think it depends upon how much bass you have/need/want (subs aside). Chorus beats Forte in that area, but I'm finding with proper placement which has taken some experimentation that the Forte III has enough for me-but i'm sub adverse if I can help it-mostly for esthetic reasons. You are fortunate to have a way to try them out in a dealership, I was fortunate to listen in a fellow forum members home. When you go to the dealer, take some music that you like and are familiar with-I find that really helps.
  8. Forgive me as I didn't read each previous post, but it's been clear to me for a while that something is wrong with the design of the shipping containers. In the past two months I have seen two sets of Cornwalls, and one set of Forte's for sale on CL in Arizona with similar damage. Fortunately mine were delivered "freight" came on pallets with no damage whatever. Still, changes need to be made at the Factory-this is really not good and doesn't speak well for the brand. Hate to say that with my 50 year allegiance to Klipsch, but this needs someone's attention.
  9. Gonna be a good 4th of July. Forte III's arrived a couple of hours ago. Strapped to a pallet-that's the way to do it! Well done Klipsch.
  10. My experience with the Yamaha CA-800 is exactly like yours. I do like its sound however and like listening to it from time to time. I'm anxious to try it with my Forte III's which are due to arrive on Tuesday (and all in one piece I hope). I think most pieces of equipment have "a sound of their own" and that make all of this more interesting. The SX-1250 definitely has a sound of its own. I am less certain that my new Outlaw has a distinctive sound that I can identify-though I like it as well. Kind of like kids, I love them all.
  11. I had the same thing happen once a few years back. Was near a military base and anomalies like that were not unheard of. I always wondered how that might happen. Offut Air Base by the way.
  12. Thanks, great to hear from someone with some similar equipment. The 1250 is really great-as is the CA-800 in class A. Different experiences, but both very good. I'm actually going to have two different systems going. One will be in a smaller room and mostly for Vinyl which is where I am envisioning the tubes living. Thanks for the info.
  13. Forte III's when they arrive. Potentially Cornwalls. I sold them three weeks ago to please the wife but am thinking that may have bee a big mistake-but rectifiable.
  14. Kind of my fear, but I guess I'm in the mood to experiment.
  15. Jeff Matthews, "Deaf Warmed Over" -now that's funny! Made my afternoon-although the bar is relatively low having had my big toenail removed this morning. But as Kurt Vonnegut would say, "So it goes."
  16. At this point in my life (I'm safely into geezerhood), I have never heard tubes except in a high end audio store. I've decided that since I have had Klipsch since the 70's I ought to at least listen to them with tubes. I've thought about the new McIntosh integrated amp which did sound nice in the showroom, but I'm not yet convinced how if I want to. I came across a Jolida JD102B and am scheduled to audition it Tuesday afternoon. I know this isn't top of the line, but I sense I can own it for a few hundred bucks, so I'm considering it-assuming I like the sound I hear. It's 15 years old, has had one set of tubes replaced but is promised to be in very good cosmetic shape and still sounds "great" according to the person selling it. What would a fair estimate of value be for something like this? I assume I might need to replace tubes soon, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm not in a hurry to do this, but have been looking. Would I be better off to experience one of the other lower end offerings as opposed to something 15 years old? Thanks
  17. How do you like the Forte III's not that you've had them a while? Mine are on order and I'm getting anxious. Thanks Del
  18. That will differ by state as well. In Arizona, used items are considered to have been taxed once and thus not subject to further tax (I don't know if this applies to vehicles or other classes of merchandise though). In other states it doesn't matter-only that it is a sale. (I'm neither an accountant or a lawyer by the way).
  19. Interesting for sure. Does it come with an R2D2 sub?
  20. I'm doing my part. I love Record Day's and the associated get togethers of vinyl enthusiasts. Moreover I love the act of putting a record on the TT and doing a little time travel.
  21. Cool. Much appreciated! Works like a charm. Thanks!
  22. A wider search range would really benefit someone like myself who spent a month trying to find Forte III's to listen to, none in stores in Arizona or Nebraska (save one set of Heresies). I'd be willing to drive 500-600 miles or more depending on what I am looking for. I did find a helpful Forum member who auditioned the Fortes for me and now have them on order. As the dealerships get filled in maybe the range could be reduced but for now it would be great.
  23. It appears they need to include search options up to about say 3000 Miles. Just sayin'
