Here you go. It was too late at night for me to get Wheel of Fortune on the hi-def TV in the attached photo. Only you will recognize the Christmas ornament I put on top of the speaker. It's a $90 paper weight, otherwise known as a burned up dryer motor.

When I was looking for mine a few months ago, they were running around $180, and I wouldn't buy one until the drop to $150, and I got one for the lowest price I had seen to that point, $139 from Amazon. No big deal on the 1/2 inch wrenches, you can use a 13mm. I know this because back in my motocross days, I was always losing my 13mm wrenches!

You can use the gizmo to control certain audio devices, and send content from the internet or your home computer to your audio system. My Klipsch sub can be controlled via remote control. I don't know about anybody else, but I am MUCH more comfortable buying off a Klipsch forumuite than some random stranger off Criag's List!

You are obviously a sophisticated computer guy, but I can tell you the SSD is probably made more for the apps like you use, than for what I do, which is more internet oriented these days. You are right, it is a pain to setup a new OS, etc like you say, but after all the work, I think you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner. It's like getting a newer, faster computer. Since you just built your system a few months ago, how much space did you use? The cloning software works really well and is seamless, so you might be able to simply migrate your system onto a new SSD. The ONLY caveat is that the cloning software is all or nothing, you cannot pick and choose the programs you want from the old HDD.

HDMI carries both audio and video signals, the DVI uses the same digital signal as the HDMI, just no audio signal. The "largeness" of the monitor (17", 24" 32" etc) is not the limiting factor of the video card, the resolution is, and its ability to put a lot of colors in the display. I took this just now, so that is this post on the right monitor. The left is a 17" Sansung LCD running 1280x1024. The right monitor is a Samsung running 1980x1020, its native resolution. I am running Firefox full screen on the left, with a Windowed Firefox between the two monitors. Because I like the print a little larger than standard hi-res gives me, I went to Control Panel, then Display and changed the default font from 100% to Medium, which is 125%. The other option is Larger, at 150%. I presume you know that to make your print bigger in your browser, <Ctrl> <+> will make your print larger? or use <ctrl> <mouse wheel> to make the print larger or smaller. Are you running Windows 7? If so, you can run the monitors full screen, and just grab the blue bar at the top and drag them to where ever they need to go, you don't need to use the resize box in the top right anymore. If you get near the top of the screen, the app will SNAP into full screen mode. The advantage to running an app full screen is that it gets nearly all of the processing power dedicated to its task, as opposed to the Windowed apps, which divide processing power more or less equally, slowing down your primary task.

The SSD is BY FAR the best bang for your buck. The Samsung 840 EVO for $150 is the one you want. You can do all the research you want, and find other units $20 cheaper, or the Samsung 840 Pro for $20 more, but I can save you some time. Just pick up the EVO because it's the best one for home use, and you can thank me later. +++ Notes: After a ton of research, I upgraded to the EVO 840 250 GB a month ago. It's like getting a faster processor, faster HDD, and faster video card all rolled up into one. I use mine for the Win7 OS and apps and put all the data including temp files on a 1TB drive. The bundled software (you'll upgrade immediately from the web site) is excellent. To make the transfer from the existing software to the new SSD, you will need some method to connect to the USB port. Samsung offers a kit for this, I used a $20 docking station. After formatting and due to the nature of SSD's and the "Turbo" mode of the EVO in particular, you will end up with about 210 GB useable. If you get the 128 GB version (110 GB usable) for $80, you can put your OS (about 30 GB) and some limited apps like Firefox on it, but bigger is better so don't cheap out, buy the size you need right off the bat.

Having Bose speakers is like having a mistress; you may enjoy the experience, but you know there is something better out there, and you don't brag to your friends that you have one. I've had my Mistress 301's for about 20 years now; my wife is cool with that.

My solder jobs look like someone squeezed solder out of a toothpaste tube. OTOH, I have the correct crimping tools, yet I have also managed to crimp so poorly I have squeezed the connecters so hard they have broken in half. Hope that helps!

Thank you Phil, for the update, I always like to know what the solution is to a problem. It adds to my knowledge base. It is really hard to determine when a device is defective without having two of them to test on. I have dealt with a LOT of tech support people who will tell you ridiculous things like "re-install your operating system" just so you will go away and they won't have to deal with you. Kudos to Klipsch tech support for recognizing the problem, taking responsibility, and getting you on your way to enjoying your product.

Yeah, we ALL feel sorry for you, having to suffer with $13k worth of year-old top-of-the-line Klipsch speakers. I was thinking about buying the entire set, but I think now I'll just stick with my Bose 301's...in your honor, Mr. Beeker.

It's troubling that your Klipsch software can't detect the device. Usually if that PnP technique doesn't work, installing it manually won't work either. Make sure you have Administrator privileges, so you can install and change programs. I suggest you turn off your Firewall, and be aware sometimes the Windows firewall is running, and a second firewall installed by your anti-virus software may ALSO be running. I think there is a setting that will suspend the software firewall for 10 minutes for just this purpose. If that doesn't work, also try turning off your firewall and your virus protection temporarily, then turn them back on right away if this doesn't work. Remember, there is probably a firewall which is also hard wired into your router. There is also a safety feature in Win7 (I think it's a Windows service) that makes the network undetectable. You want to make sure your network is "searchable" mode. Quick Edit: Go to the Start menu, and at the bottom where it says "Search Programs and Files" type "msconfig." The msconfig.exe will appear as a menu choice, RIGHT CLICK on it and choose the second menu choice for "Run as administrator." This will give you a quick way to check which Services are running. You can also have fun seeing what programs Windows starts that you might not know about. (I've only got a few minutes to post right now. If you can't find these features, post again and I'll try to provide specifics)

That is the exact reason I came to this forum just about a month ago. I had just acquired a pair of 20 year-old CF-4's and they needed major refurbishing. My speakers took a LOT of time, all sanded by hand, but I think they turned out pretty decent.
