  1. I personally dislike the word Audiophile. It has a close association with many words using the word PHILE in it, that immediately conjures up bad images in a persons head. Phile on the end of a word means a lover or enthusiast of an object, item, I enjoy the audio equipment, and listening to music as often as I can. But the people who claim to be audiophiles, call themselves that using their own set of rules or criteria. I joking refer to an Audiophile as a person who is heading out to pick up a set of $400 RCA cables during a heavy rain storm, on their way they have their left hand outside the car working the windshield wiper. Sometimes I feel there are those of us who get a little to obsessed with with the whole audio thing. As for me I am a recovering audio addict. Cant go cold turkey but weaning myself away slowly. The big man above gave us all five senses, Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell, Touch. There is only one thing in the world that stimulates all of them, & its not an amplifier or a set of speakers. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? So if I am going to be a phile of anything it would be the the one that triggers all these senses. .
  2. Are the la scalas still for sale. If so please give me a call,,, 251 213 - 1388 Dean
  3. Strange indeed. Last week I was returning home with my wife after a long trip to Nashville for an audio equipment deal. Drove straight up and straight back in the same day. Made it almost home, about 4 in the morning. A very large owl flew in front of the truck, barely missed him, within the next 30 minutes almost hit a possum, a armadillo and 2 deer ran in front of me. I was completely ragged out from the long day. It honestly felt like We were in an episode of the twilight zone.
  4. You say not so fast. I am not going to lead people to believe eBay is a safe and fair market like it was at one time. I stick to my original comments. Be aware of when you are buying or selling on eBay. Fee's are hurting us , this I agree. But, the bigger problem is the dishonest people, and eBay it's self being dishonest / unfair. eBay has a long list of items that we ( sellers ) are prohibited from selling, and yet they let people sell them all the time. A non permitted item sold yesterday for over $5000! Yet I listed a similar item several years back and eBay threatened to close my account! You can go on eBay any day and buy illegal drugs and prohibited items. Several months back I was double charged on my monthly selling fee's. I contacted eBay, they said the money would be returned to my account but, instead they held it as a credit toward my next months fee's . Last month eBay over charged my account by $58.00. I call them and they said they said my sales were a little slow and they added an extra feature to each of my items and I was charged a $1 per item for each one listed. This was done without my permission. You can say what you like, but eBay is ripping people off. I believe they call that theft. Were you aware of eBay blackouts. Once a day eBay blacks out at least 1 million items for four hours. This means your items may not be seen for that period of time.. I am glad you are doing well on eBay! But, list enough items and eventually you will get burned! eBay is getting worse by the day, and that is a simple proven fact! I am not saying do not buy or sell on eBay! I am just saying tread lightly! eBay is a powerhouse, The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
  5. Just curious how many items do you usually keep listed on average?
  6. To those who responded about my Ebay comments. My best advice to anyone who wants to become a seller on Ebay is very simple, BE SCARED BE VERY SCARED. I am not just saying this because of a few bad experiences. I have two different ebay accounts and have over 1500 positive feedback's & 0 negative feedback's on my main account. My wife & I worked hard to make things work to get to that point. As of two years ago we actually did rather well selling, with our best single month of net sales being just over $14000.00. Our average months would were about $4000.00 net. All this time we were both working full time jobs as well. Things were going well for us, a decent paying job we were both working for the same company and Ebay was moving along well. Then the news comes, our boss ( company owner ) tells us he is closing the doors. At this point we are not overly concerned, after all we still have Ebay. We pour our blood sweat & tears into it. Bought a lot of inventory, listed a lot of items and low and behold the bottom falls out. No sales to speak of, scammers everywhere and eBay itself treats you like you are nothing to them. At one time we had over 3000 items listed and now we try and keep around 50 listed, hoping for the market to come back . From years of study and keeping good records we feel the ebay market has seen its hay-day. I currently have about 50 items listed, woke up three days ago and I had no items listed, they had vanished in the wind. I called Ebay and they said, just re list them. I did exactly that and they charged me to re list my items. Ebay is the 700 lb gorilla on the block and bully's everyone. Knowing they have the monopoly on places to sell a wide selection of items. Some of you may have seen some of my items for sale on here. Ebay has a large part to do with my liquidating all of my stereo equipment. You can slap me once or twice even, but there comes a point when I will react. So the bottom line is Ebay is at the very least a scary place for the buyer and the seller as well. One last thing, and this is just the advice coming from someone who has lost almost everything ( so take it as you will ) When buying audio equipment, drive and audition ( NO SHIPPING !!! ) it pays off. Thanks for letting me bend your ear, I wish everyone all the best. May God bless you all and provide you with all you need and deserve. For me, I have to reinvent myself. But I thank God I have my wife by my side. If you ever want to talk about anything, my ear is an open door. Dean ( 251 ) 213 - 1388 George Harrison's last words were " Love One Another "
  7. I sell on what you guys are calling the bay. If the guy has not opened a case against you then ignore or even block him from emailing you. If he opens up a case against you then send him a refund. $16 is not worth the headache, plus you will probably get a negative feedback if you don't work things out with him. I have been wanting to talk with Klipsch members for a long time about the Bay but I was not sure if it would be aloud. I have been on there a long time, good times and bad times. I have a ton of inventory ( not all audio ), but why list when things are not selling. I took a $4000.00 hit from a man in New York about 8 months back. The bay sided with him. I bought three pieces of equipment from him and they all 3 arrived broken. The Bay is like riding a roller coaster, when your a young kid its fun and you enjoy it, now that your older the ride is jerking you around to hell and back and the fun is gone. I could write a book about my nightmares with the bay. I am curious to see if there are many members on here dealing on the Bay.
  8. I have a pair of cornwalls, The paper on the back is faded and It is non readable. The serial #s are ( 6no71 ) ( 6n070 ). Thanks for any help, Dean
  9. My first experience was a nightmare. I was running two sets of bose 901's with two bose 1801 amplifiers and they had lost there zeal for me. I started researching for a better sounding speaker. Thats when I heard about Klipsch. I talked to several friends about them and though they had never owned any, they had heard them and highly recomended getting a pair. They all said go with a pair of the top four, La Scalas, Belles, Cornwalls, Or Khorns. I began researching them and the hunt was on. I soon found out I could not afford a new pair, so a good used pair was what I started looking for. I hunted for almost a year and finally found a pair. They happened to be Khorns. I had to make a six hour drive to get them. The seller told me to bring my own cd's to listen to. I got there and he put on one of my cd's and it was like an out of body experience. A sound I never knew existed. We loaded them on my truck I drove home unloaded them , hooked them up and both woofers were locked up. The only thing I can figure is the ride home the woofers had too much movement in them and the voice coils locked up. I pulled the woffers out and tight as a drum no movement at all. I had to wait four month to save up the money to have them repaired. Every day for 4 months I walked by them remembering the sound I had heard, and i was sick to my stomach. Alas time passed and I got them back on there feet. Happy every since. Since that time I have owned many sets of klipsch and been happy with most of them. I have since tried many other brands over the years to see if the hype about them was all that people were saying. Some sounded great but nothing compared to Klipsch. My hunt is over.
  10. Yeah, the Phase linear 400's were bad boys. I grew up in the Cincinnati area, I am currently living on the gulf coast and will be moving as soon as my property sells. Cant wait to move back home. Until this happens, eat a couple of cheese coneys for me. Or even a couple of white castles. Many nights after bar hopping I would wear out a bag of white castles. The bar days are over, but the taste of home is still in my veins. Dean
  11. In the early 1970's I was hanging out with a group of people 10 to 15 older than myself. They were in my opinion, the last of the hippie generation. Music all day every day. My older cousin had a fantastic Jensen Quadraphonic system. Listened to a lot of Quad albums, one that still stands was Ten Years After, ( A Space In Time ). Then I heard a set of Bose 901"s that a friend of my cousin had set up in a attic of a house that was turned into his music room. The room was about 15 foot wide and 30 foot long. He put the lp , Traffic, The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys. Not long after that I heard a system that had speakers that were at least 5 foot tall, dont remember the brand, but he was running Phase Linear 400 amps. He had rented a sound proof apartment in Cincinnati Ohio and was evicted for playing his music too loud. Since then I have listened to so much audio equipment Its hard to deiced what my ultimate system would be. I think a lot of us get way too caught up in the whole deal of our quest for the best sound. I personally dont like using the word Audiophile. I make a joke of what a true Audiophile is. A Audiophile is a guy who is headed out to purchase a $400 set of RCA cables while its raining and he is reaching outside of his car to work the wiper blade with his hand.
  12. THEY HAVE BEEN SOLD. Hello everyone, I am going to be moving soon and have a lot of gear to sell. A simple matter of downsizing. I don't want to pack and haul all of this with me. I will provide a comprehensive list very soon. All the equipment is in very good condition to mint. Some I can ship and some will need to be picked up. This is not a fire sale however I am pricing all equipment at reasonable prices. I will be taking a loss on some items. I live 20 minutes from Pensacola FL & 20 from Mobile AL. Feel free to call me @ ( 251 ) 213 - 1388 Dean If you are interested in anything I have for sale please call me. I will be happy to talk, answer questions, negotiate, what ever. Tex ting and Emailing is not my choice of communication. Call it old school or whatever but a phone call is where I prefer to start. Pair of JBL 4430'S studio monitors Price $1900 Pick up only. I forgot to add a photo of the woofers, but they are in perfect condition. Sonically they are a 10 with all original parts. Cosmetically they are a 9+ Beautiful to look at. I am the second owner, The first owner purchased them placed them in his home and rarely used them. When I went to audition them he was running them with a low end receiver and only watched soft rock dvd's while playing them. He rarely played cd's but when he did it was soft rock. I took a cd with me so I could give them a listen. I turned them up just at normal listening levels ( not loud at all ) and he said he never played them that loud. I got them home and gave them a good run, they will crank. All drivers working perfectly. But what really amazed me was their sound stage. As good as any and better than most. Lots more gear coming soon. I also have a beautiful set of cornwalls and will try to get them listed next.

Tex ting and Emailing is not my choice of communication. Call it old school or whatever but a phone call is where I prefer to start. Price $1200.00 Pick up only Infinity Renaissance 90 speakers, Pair in black, Audiophile all the way, but then if you are looking, you probably know something about these speakers. Sonic-ally they are a 10 Cosmetically I will rate them an 8+. The grills need recovered. But not bad looking from a few feet away These speakers rarely come up for sale for several reasons. First off they were only made for two years. Secondly, the people who currently own them, seldom let them go. For those not familiar with these speakers, just look up the reviews on the internet. You will be amazed. From my perspective, they are astounding, great highs, mids, lows. Excellent sound stage, They flat out sing. The serial #'s are 1 apart.
  14. I understand exactly what you are going through. My wife and I are in a similar situation. But I find myself at the age of 57 and unemployed. My wife & I worked for the same company for years. The owner made the decision to sell his company and 2 young men bought the company. To say the least both men are green behind the ears. Within six months of the new owners being there the company was so screwed up we had to have a serious meeting with them. It had got so bad, it was affecting our physical and mental health. The company was behind in payroll, bidding jobs and loosing money, however they refused to listen to the two people that was for years the backbone ( my wife & I ) of the company. The meeting was a disaster. We worked another two months and received a letter of dismissal. Their reason stated reason for dismissal was personality conflicts. They owed us $6500.00 at the time we were let go. After talking with several attorneys we were told it would cost more money to recover our unpaid wages than it would be worth. Now normally $6500.00 would not affect us in a terrible way but loosing the income and having helped out family and friends financially for years, well we were not ready for this hit. We currently have everything we own up for sale, ( at a time when things are not selling ). We are looking at a major financial hit, a major life change. Talk about felling sick to your stomach. Enough about us. Many on the forum have advised you on how to handle your situation. Some good, some so so. In the end no matter how much support we have, we all walk through this life alone. When it comes to friends and its eat or be eaten, well lets just say watch your back. I hope with all of my heart you have strong family bonds, that is where you will receive most of your help, your answers. Hey lets not forget the big man in the sky. Our best to you along with our prayers.
  15. How Bizarre. My wife & I watched the Hatfield & McCoy mini series with Mr Paxton playing the head of the McCoy family. Our payers to his family. We all have an appointment with our maker. May God bless Bill and hold him in his arms.
  16. I feel for you being in your situation & I don't have the answer to remedy. But a gun!!! ( really people !! ). For those who suggested violence, using a gun, fighting. The admins should remove your post due to legal issues of your advocating violence that could get someone harmed or killed. Throughout history there have always been people who will steal and take advantage of others. This is the nature of man. I want what you have and instead of working for it, I will just take it. Money is the root that leads to all evil. This is a truth and will always be. If you have it someone wants to take it from you. I am currently surrounded by neighbors that no one would want around them. I have recently posted some of my equipment for sale on the forum due to the fact my wife & I are moving, not due to the neighbors and their ways, but we lost 4 family members in the last 2 months and we want to move closer to home to be around family. But we will be dammed glad to be away from our current neighbors. We live one mile from the interstate but are out in the country. With in 1 mile of us lives 11 child molesters & God only knows what else. Please don't let your situation escalate into a Hatfield & McCoy feud by using violence. Protect your family, protect your property. But use the correct venues, law enforcement, but my two cents is stop feeding the monkeys or you will never get them off your back.
  17. The lenses are the correct color, The light is reflecting off of them. as for the woofers, the new ones blow the old ones out of the water. and were recommended straight by JBL
  18. I know you are just sick to your stomach. I have had many electronic pieces shipped ( Fed Ex , Ups, USPS ) all items I purchased and quite a few come in damaged. Not one single time was a claim settled. Years ago I took a side job washing Fed EX trucks, I saw first hand how packages were handled. The day of customer service is out the window, same way your speakers were handled, bounced and rolled around shipping trucks, handled by people who could care less. USPS ( our beloved postal service ) dropped a package right in front of me, the package rolled across the floor and came to a stop. I opened the package right there in front of them and my $1600.00 turntable was destroyed. My postmaster said good luck with your claim I lost my insurance claim. My heart goes out to you. I wish you and every one dealing with this type of situation the very best. I honestly think our carriers are doing the worst job possible.
  19. I have two of them listed this morning on the forum. Please look in the garage sale section. Dean
  20. If you have sold a lot of items on craigslist and this is your first scam email, consider yourself lucky. I get up to 10 scammers a day. I list a lot of stuff there so I get bombarded with scams. The bay is full of thieves and scams as well. For this reason and others I am selling all my equipment and getting out of the business. Good luck and best wishes, I think it will only get worse. Dean
  21. Sorry forgot the price, $1300.00 I do not have original box. The amp weighs 67 pounds before packing. so it will push 80 plus pounds with packing. I have a lot of experience packing audio equipment. It will be packed as if I were sending it to myself. Shipping through Fed Ex is $98.00.
