  1. Sorry I've been on vacation here at my MT home won't return to WA until Monday night and I didn't take any pictures of the grill foam (actually thought about it) while I had the speaker apart. I have a pair of kp-301-ii's here and they do not have any foam behind the metal grill either.
  2. Only letting me upload one at a time I guess
  3. Having trouble loading pics will keep trying here
  4. I've got my brothers old stock KLF-30's I was planning a restore but just have too many speakers and projects in the works.
  5. Any updates? I just got a crazy good deal on some 362-II's and they aren't too shabby. I was curious I removed the grill cover on one of the 362's and noticed a fairly thick maybe 3/8's? foam glued to the inside of the grill cover does the 396 grill cover have the same foam? Thanks!
  6. I have solid state amps as well, still have a PA5 actually but where the disconnect for me is believing the lower the distortion of an amplifier the "better" it sounds I call BS on that. For one thing I don't think our ears can distinguish between .1 and .01 let alone .001 and .0001 distortion numbers at some point it becomes irrelevant. Just like speakers with a frequency response up to 35khz I'm not playing music for my dog if it's way beyond my hearing threshold I find it hard to believe that it really "adds" anything to the music or becomes "more" neutral.
  7. Have you tried setting them on the floor and tilting them back? It usually doesn't take much tilt to get the horns aimed where you want them.
  8. Only one way to find out for sure pick up some Chorus II's and try them out. I see no need to move the TV, worst case scenario the center speaker stand and sub move to the right a couple inches so the center wouldn't be "centered" on the stand but could still be centered under the TV. They're both great speakers room acoustics and equipment matching will play a big role on which you prefer. For me I've always preferred the Chorus models higher sensitivity and more forward midrange bass isn't as deep but seems a bit more accurate. Again only way to know for sure is try them out.
  9. Simply speakers has them in stock again: https://www.simplyspeakers.com/klipsch-replacement-speaker-diaphragm-d-k53k.html
  10. I would get a hold of Klipsch parts as Randy has suggested and replace both with the ST woofers
  11. Damn this may have been the deal of the year for me right out of the box these guys just sing! And to think a few weeks ago I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of new RP-6000-II's sure glad I held off I think these are going to do just fine. Bass is just how I remember; a slightly tighter, cleaner Chorus 1 nice and accurate just not enveloping like the Chorus II bass but noticeably more detailed.
  12. That's taking it a bit far these amps are decent- and impressive for what they are but I found them lifeless compared to my Carver tube amps, just no where near as enjoyable. Just because they spec better than most amps doesn't mean it sounds better sorry.
  13. I've had this style cabinet before and was able to compare them head to head with Chorus 1's bass was very similar nice tight and punchy but just like the Chorus 1's I feel they need a subwoofer especially at lower volumes. My current residence seems to be very bass friendly so maybe they'll do alright here I'll post impression when I get them dialed in and have a little time with them.
  14. Yeah price was crazy low listing was for all 3 speakers when I added them to my cart all three appeared automatically still not sure if I should keep the 3rd as a matching center or just sell it off to recoupe some of the cost.
  15. Seen these this morning and couldn't pass them up figured at this price I'd check them out and pass them along if they fall short. Looking at the parts list these appear to be as close as we'll probably ever get to a Chorus III.
  16. I believe he's referring to the JBL horn in the OP
  17. First off have you tried gluing the part back together? That could get you going at least in the short term. I believe this part is still being utilized the KI-362-II speaker which means Klipsch parts is probably the way to go.
  18. Sounds like what he needs may be the plastic adapter?
  19. Turning the sub into a passive is easy all you need to do is install a set of binding posts and disconnect the amp from the woofer then obviously do not plug the sub amp into an outlet. As far as replacing the sub with a new model if you look at the published specs the 10" version is the same as the RSW-15 so you wouldn't necessarily have to get the huge 16" as a replacement you might consider the 10 or 12 if space is a concern
  20. I was going to suggest running the center and surrounds off the AVR and bi-amp the RF-7's with the Parasound those towers will eat up a lot of power
  21. I had the T-500 years back while the cabinet quality and construction was cringeworthy they actually did sound quite good, much like a forte 1 but with slightly less bass output. I cranked them up pretty loud a lot and never noticed any issues with the cabinets.
