  1. You can't go specs alone the newest RP series have significantly better / higher quality horns, phase plugs and driver tech. Cabinets bifurcated and heavily braced crossovers are much improved as well. I would expect a much more refined, detailed accurate and smoother, more pleasing sound from the 8000 ii's than the older 82's.
  2. Hard to say without hearing both but looking at the specs the r-41's have a tiny 4" horn with a crappy aluminum driver with a 4" woofer-- The size of the voice should be considerably larger with the 6000 ii horn is almost 7" with a substantially higher quality lens, driver and phase plug tech plus dual 6.5 woofers they shouldn't even be close.
  3. Had a channel mysteriously quit on me on one of mine (I had 3 at one point) so I sent it back for a refund
  4. I know you're the seller I keep a close eye on stuff like this
  5. "not mine" do you mean you're selling this for a friend?
  6. Woofers take some time to break in that could be a contributing factor plus depending on which capacitors are in the new crossovers they could lean towards the brighter side. Diaphragms do wear out so replacing them should improve distortion but probably not the brightness. Lots of things can contribute to the sound you're hearing equipment matching and room acoustics are a couple of big ones also speaker placement and listening position can alter the sound. Hard to know for sure what's going on without more information.
  7. Any update? How you liking the 396's?
  8. I've had a few pair of both over the years never at the same time but the RF-5 is the significantly better speaker IMO if you want to take them up a notch find a pair of RC-7 crossovers and horn drivers gets them pretty close to RF-7 performance in a much smaller package.
  9. I don't know seems a bit high to me we have 10% sales tax here in WA so $400 for the pair? Ebay clones without mumps are $50 each 1/4 of the price and just as good from what I understand 800hz and up if you're looking for lower crossover point the 18x10 horns beat out the 510 mumps also at $50 each
  10. Last I heard Klipsch would not sell these by themselves have to order drivers with them as a kit "KPT-904 HF" $1250 a pair I believe
  11. About as budget as you can get at $55 these Denons sound nice with Klipsch: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ele/d/san-rafael-denon-avr-2807/7670683447.html
  12. I appreciate the feedback you have some very nice gear! I've been seriously considering having a 1.5t refurbished to a MK-II with all the add-ons as it remains one of my favorite sounding Carver amplifiers.
  13. @Heritage_Head If you want to buy new give these guys a call they usually come down quite a bit from list price: https://paducahhometheater.com/products/klipsch-ki-396-sma-ii
  14. The k-510 / 691's are game changers congrats on the new speakers!
  15. Not counting some sardines the other day went small mouth bass fishing labor day weekend with some friends in Montana- filet up and beer battered pretty damn tasty!
  16. There was a graph floating around of a new aftermarket mid driver testing better than the Klipsch k55v until it was pointed out that the k55v used in the test was 40+ years old and supposedly (i never seen a new chart) when the diaphragm was replaced in the old driver it tested about as well as the new aftermarket driver did so I guess the short answer is there likely is some degradation to at least the diaphragms.
  17. Which drivers are on the two horns? Does the "tweeter" 510 horn have mumps?
  18. Congrats on the new fortes! Great price and I really like the way these look in your pictures the lighter colored front with the metal grills is pretty slick.
  19. Used parts show up on eBay every so often- replacement diaphragms haven't been available for many years now. CF-2 and KV-4 share the same driver the CF-3 & 4 diaphragms are the same but magnet is larger for higher sensitivity.
  20. I used the wipes on the cones dust caps and surrounds pressing very softly it took a bit of work but everything looks new now I wiped the face of the speaker first just to "use up" a bit of the moisture not sure I needed to but it all worked out. I actually need grill cloth myself it is quite different than the older extended heritage cloth it's very thin.
  21. I just cleaned up my 30's with natural baby wipes wiped the wood surfaces first to run out the moisture a bit 1 wipe per speaker worked great they look like new now and they were pretty bad about 10 years of dust.
  22. That's funny! I allowed over 100 hours break in on both and in the end it was very close I could have been happy with either but ended up sending the Focals back. The Focals needed a ton of break in but eventually smoothed out nicely I found the PX-8's to be more a bit more detailed and realistic sounding and more comfortable but like I said I thought they are both excellent I'd recommend either.
  23. Looking to make a little cash it seems for your trouble.. "Two of them were $224 with shipping. Not bad!"
  24. Can you post pictures? Where are you located? Thanks
