  1. I went ahead and set up the amp in my current system. The beast was too heavy to lug around the house and then back to the living room later. WOW what a difference. Now I really can't wait for the rest of it. Like a kid at Christmass.
  2. I love that movie. May have to go looking for it.
  3. First I want to thank MrMcgoo. He has given a lot of good advive through pm. Second thanks to everyone else who has helped on all of my posts. On to the system. First I picked up a B&K 200.5 amp on sale and have it integrated into my current system. Very nice. I ordered a pair of RF7s and a RC7 in black. I will move my RF3-IIs to the back and my RS3-II for surround duty. I will have the new Yamaha RX V4600 for pre/pro duty and powering the RS3-IIs. And a Pioneer 59Avi for the source connected through i link. I have a new 15" Titanic mk II I just assembled for the sub. It should sound very nice. I arranged to pick up everything on July 30th, the first day of my 2 week vacation. Good timing huh? Me with a new system and the wife at work and child in daycare for a few hours. It'l be great if the wait doesn't kill me.
  4. Ovation is my only Klipsch dealer here in Louisville. While I feel competition is good, Ovation is a great store. And the two salesman I've dealt with over the years are priceless.
  5. And to think I waste my time working for a living when I could be selling stuff to morons. What was it that PT Barnum said?

  7. Look at what they are capable of at 4 ohms and 2 ohms. This is one thing I've learned from the members here. If the amp doubles or nearly doubles it's output with each drop in impedence then it has a good power supply. It's not just about watts but the ability to handle dips in impedence also. Read this post http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=63809&sessionID={033962A6-C8D9-4725-A6F1-F0A5783DF977} It starts out about the 990 pre/pro, but there is some good discussion about amp quality, namely the Aragon.
  8. You guys all have good points. My name is on the list for the 990. But by the time I get one the 3806 will probably be out . Since they have a good return policy at Outlaw I figured it couldn't hurt to try one out. It's a hard decision having heard what room correction can do. But this would only affect movies. All of my music is coming in through analog. I guess the question to ask now is room correction worth it just for DVD movies and some TV watching? Edit:one other thing I like about the 990. With it having xlr outs it could be paired in the future with a nice pro amp cheaply. Throw in a CD player, maybe a TT, and I have a good base for a 2 channel system.
  9. Which would better as a pre/pro only? Same price for either one.
  10. Well men, I've put my name on the list for one. But I probably won't actually get for 11/2 to 2 months or maybe even longer.
  11. I decided to put my name on the list for a 990. Now I wait.

  13. It should be between the Yamaha and Pioneer, I wouldn't even consider the Kenwood. Which one sounds best to you?
  14. I've been thinking about the 990 as it is priced the same as the Denon 3805 I was looking at as a pre/pro. And I'm not using Denon link or firewire. I can swing the money for a B&K Ref 50 but something in the back of my mind keeps shouting to wait. My thinking is to upgrade to a Ref 50 replacement when the next round of formats are established because they will probably require new dsp chipsets and possibly different connections. With the 990 having xlr outputs it could easily be mated with a nice pro amp and a pair of speakers down the road for a good 2 channel setup. Possibly a venture into heritage stuff. Does this sound like a good long term path? Does anyone have a different idea to think over. I'm ordering the RF7s, RC7, and B&K amp next weekend. My dealer says 4 to 6 weeks on Black RFs which is fine since I won't have the tme to set them up until then anyway. And yes this is my first venture into separates. that's why I'm asking questions of those more experienced in this area before I spend any money.
  15. What is everyone's opinion on using a receiver as a pre/pro opposed to a dedicated unit? I'm a little leary of spending the money on something like a B&K with format changes around the corner. Would a mid level receiver with good processing and a decent pre amp section be good to use. Or maybe something like the new Outlaw 990? For those that have helped me out on decisions on my upcoming purchase I have just enough money to add a pre/pro if I put my car on hold for a few months, which I'm doing.
  16. I'll chime in and say that the 15" Titanic is awesome. And simple to build if you buy the kit.
  17. I'm caving in and going to see Star Wars. I want to see how the story goes and just can't wait till the DVD is released.
  18. (New York gangster accent) Welcome to da family.
  19. I would say crossover at 80 for the 35s.
  20. Are the Dayton cables that Parts Express sells good for SACD/DVDA and for connecting to an amp?
