  1. Compounding what? Interest, I assume? Europe is charging savers to put money in the bank. Some banks here in the U.S. are doing the same thing now. The current economic climate is absolutely killing pensioners and retired folk when inflation is greater than the interest rate on their investments. Europe has been screwed for a long time now. The socialist system if flopping on its head because nobody had enough kids to enter the workforce to pay taxes for the retired people with longer life expectancy. Combine that with the consolidation of currency and erosion of national sovereignty via the EU, bank austerity measures from massive national debts and a cultural crisis as immigrants from the middle east flood in with a much higher fertility rate and you have a powder keg. Not to mention a really pissed off Russia because we overthrew a buffer nation's government less than 500 miles from Moscow.
  2. No truer words have been written. I hasten to add that the student loan bubble is larger than that of the mortgage crises. Definitely more dangerous. If you cant pay your mortgage you lose your house but Student Loans are not able to be resolved through bankruptcy. Of course the government will never tell you they created this mess but eventually will be more than happy to offer "Loan Forgiveness" in exchange for votes. Unless we cut the Cancer of our Central Bank out of the economy we are perpetually screwed. The banking cartel simply runs the printing press and loans to major corporations for nothing thus flooding the economy with easy credit. Then when the market eventually adjusts and the bubble bursts, the cartel members get bailed out and buy up the losers for pennys on the dollar. Rinse and Repeat since 1913... Of course, every time is gets trickier because the dollar must be based on "something" in the worldwide marketplace so we run a global financial empire dictating that all oil must be sold in US dollars. If you dont play the game like Iraq did when they tried selling oil in Euros we simply call in the military and make up a story in the press.
  3. You mean the Federal Reserve constantly running the currency printing press isnt actually improving the economy but just floating the stock market in another bubble? Who would have thought. Just wait until the student loan bubble bursts...
  4. If you have limited space I would second the KSB 1.1's. They are an awesome speaker that are great for low level listening.
  5. So he has a Palladium HT system with a Klipsch Stadium in is kitchen and Reference Headphones? Maybe he is sponsored by Klipsch.
  6. Price just jumped back to $299, it looks like it was only $199 for a few hours. If you dont have it yet, Firefox has a cool price tracker add-on for amazon that has the price history.
  7. Great Deal! Plus its Prime so you get the satisfaction of shipping a 40lb package 2 Day for free...
  8. I wonder if it was from all the Dr. Dre Beats headphones lol 'How do your new headphones sound?' 'Who cares, they have BASS!'
  9. I love my Browning 887 Nitro Mag. It was pretty unpopular at first when it first came out but they fixed the loading issues and it has a great balance and feel. Some people dont like the fact its a plastic shotgun but it feels great in my hands and the ergonomics work well for me for shooting and tactical reloading etc. I have shot everything though it from the usual target loads to dear slugs to 3.5'' Magnum 00 buck. Utah is an awesome state for guns and we even have shooting ranges that let you rent a .50 Cal or a Machine gun etc. (I tried to post a pic but it says, "You are not allowed to post this image extension on this community")
  10. Hey, I have a $200 Chinese made DAC with a tube buffer that glows with an LED light that Chris A. made fun of on one of my first posts here. I was really excited to spend another $70 on the Amperex NOS tube that made it sound a little more detailed. I was also incredibly excited to get my Denon 3801 for $35 to run my KG 5.5 's which I got for $400. I have spent hours on speaker placement and toe in etc and absolutely love the way my system sounds now. It has been pieced together with what I can afford at the time and I appreciate every component. Thanks to the advice from guys with $10,000 systems, I have been able to optimize what i have for my budget and appreciate the sound that comes out the speakers. (Unlike my buddy that had a Bose plug and play system in a box for 3 months because he couldnt set it up until I came over and put it together for him.) Most young kids have no idea what they are doing and without guidance and cool ridiculous photos of Jubilee's etc have nothing to aspire to as we build out systems up over the years.
  11. Lol one time my brother got in a fight with this stupid kid playing HALO on Xbox live so my brother asked where he lived then pulled up google maps and picked a town halfway between them and said he would meet the kid there at some parking lot to kick the **** out of him. It was pretty funny actually.
  12. I don't remember hearing about Frodo racing Bilbo or Gandalf on a podracer. Yeah but there was a warg chase led by a sled pulled by bunnies and driven by a crazy guy with a hat covered in bird poop...
  13. That is an awesome idea. When I was in College I helped some guy move and he gave me a free pair of KSB 1.1s. They are now my surrounds with my KG 5.5 setup. Its always cool to do what you can to inspire young people on audio gear an sound quality. Yesterday I sold my old Kenwood speakers to a young kid who just wanted bass and i showed him corner load placement, tune the ports etc and explained how to do the subwoofer crawl when he saved up for one.
  14. 4,5,6 are cinematic genius and I am blown away every time I watch them. 1,2,3 are Hollywood fluff to pimp an established story for easy money and no real expense shooting it in digital. I would have them watch 4,5,6 then just show them the podracer scene which is really the only thing the new ones have going for them. Now that I think about it, thats pretty much the same pattern that Peter Jackson followed with the Lord of the Rings then The Hobbit...
  15. I dont know enough about the two to give you an educated response but have you thought about an Infinite Baffle subwoofer? It is a more or less permanent installation but everything I have read about them indicates they are mind blowing and a couple steps above any sealed enclosure.
  16. I have only been here for a few months but I have loved the forum so far. I honestly thought I was hot **** about home theater setup etc and was very humbled by the expertise of the people here and how willing they are to help. I now have a much better setup and more importantly I appreciate the music coming from my system from all the knowledge I have gleaned. I think one of the issues is that this is a limited scope forum and you can only have so many discussions on your own system setup etc. As far as people being snarky, personal attacks etc, that is going to happen in any forum or online venue where you dont run the risk of getting the crap beaten out of you for saying something. All in all its much better here than some of the other forums I have been on which always devolve into a flame war over the same Reddit reposts etc. I think it would be cool to do some more creative threads like, "Post your favorite songs about..." or post your favoite BS audiophoolery product etc.
  17. Do they have a medical Cannabis program in Florida or at least allow CBD oil? I spoke to some cancer patients when I lived in CO and they said that it was the only thing that helped their nausea and worked wonders. They definitely wont allow it in the hospital but it may be something to look in to when he gets home and if the nausea persists. Here is some info on it: http://www.projectcbd.org/conditions/nausea-2/ My thoughts and prayers are with him as he continues to recover.
  18. I just figured at that point your all ready busted so why stop having fun. Then usually the real fun begins and you see if you can out run them. When I was in High School I got to drive my Dad's 1988 E30 M3. I was out in the country doing about 100 mph in a 60 with my brother and came flying around a corner and saw a cop SUV in the oncoming lane. I figured I might as well floor it until I got to a road with lots of turnoffs and snaked my way back home and put the car in the garage. I never knew if he turned around or not.
  19. 120 - what car were you driving -that seems like it must have been a powerful machine - It was actually just my 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (No turbo). There was a long straight and I just pushed it to the 120 mark then eased off a little for a while at around 105 or so then a few miles later the HWY Patrol showed up in my mirror. They must of had someone in a ghillie suit with a radar gun because I was watching the shoulders like a hawk. I was so relieved when he gave me the ticket that only said 93 because if i would have gotten tagged earlier I would have been hosed. I set my cruise control for 78 mph for now on...
  20. I have been pretty lucky: Stereo: Thorenz TD-124- Free (Inherited from Grandfather's basement) KG 5.5- $400 Denon AVR 3801- $35 KSB 1.1- Free for helping someone move I got an awesome liquor cabinet that is $450 retail for $40 because the guy was Mormon and didnt know what to do with it lol. Yesterday I just picked up a lightly used Canon 7D for $550 which I am really stoked on.
  21. I was doing 120 on the freeway though Wyoming on a long straight and then once I slowed down a cop came up and pulled me over. The ticket said 93 so I just smiled and signed the paper. We both knew I was dead to rights so there wasnt much to say.
  22. I have read that you should never try to train a dog to be more aggressive for defense but just be really loving to it. If you are being attacked the dog's natural protection instincts will take over and it will step in and handle business.
  23. A re issue with the large format K510 horn and large format driver would be a killer loudspeaker. I am not a fan of the WTW configuration as it has screwie off axis response and I much prefer the WWT arrangement used in the KG and KLF series (KLF10). Don't hold your breath though. Best regards Moray James. I was wondering about that. Would you need to put them on stands to have the horn at ear level?
  24. I knew a kid in my dorms in College that had a Netflix account and he would get a DVD then copy it and sell the copies to all his buddies then send back the original and get another from Netflix. I dont think he ever got caught but it was pretty shady.
  25. Especially the black on black ones. They are like giant monoliths of audio awesomeness.
