Either way, sight unseen I hate to pay a bunch of shipping charges for any electronics. From what I understood if there was a probelm with them I would have to pay to return them as well.

I almost bought them earlier this week, I would imagine they would sound good with the set up they have. I called and talked to the guy at Guitar Center and they seem to be fully functional and in prety good shape. Only problem is it runs about $100 for shipping to me.

I saw on the Emotiva site today that they sent over their XPA-2 amp to be included in the showdown. I own three of those amps and would love to see how they stack up Kind of weird how they have AVR's older amps and new amps all in the same competition. Should be interesting though. My buddy has a Bryston 4B-SST and he dismissed my XPA-2 simply becasue of the price it sells for. After a side by side comparo it earned his respect, and any differences were basically inaudible.

Definitely use the 5.1 inputs on the AVR and enjoy the new found world of Bluray. I am sure you will still see an added improvement in sound even without the HDMI.

The tech seems to have a memory loss problem. I don't think I would trust this shop for the additional repairs. Sad to say, this might be the result of this shop not knowing how to proceed.

I like that look. Has the sound improved/worsened at all since adding the new binding posts? For now I tightened the inside rear screws and it did the trick but I still want to chenge them out.

Fry's just had an Reference-12 sub brand new as a special buy on Friday for $229. The Reference -10 is only $349 and ships free. Today they are offering the Sub 12 for $199 and free shipping. Might want to shop around.

You might be better off using the horns in the middle and flank them with two eight ich woofers insted of the single twelve. Obviously you would need to change out the crossover to work this way. This way everything faces forward and sound is directed towards you. I have a KLF 20 single speaker that I am going to use for a center and that is my plan I am following.

Dang Youthman, I had fingers crossed it would work. I am no techie but from what you say, it sounds like the shop connected both your channel five and channel six into the same output. That would explain why you have no sound on one channel out and sound on two channels through the other out. I hope when Adam looks inside he can see it where the link is to the wrong output. It may end up being an easy fix for a tech although there is no way I would accept that from the shop you just paid...

Just got my Speakercraft BassX-10 sub delivered today. Nice little oomph to run alongside my Heresy Gen 1's. I have a large basement family room to fill and this sub pumps out nice sound and adds some much needed bottom end.

IbizaFlame, not sure if you are aware but you can run one or two amps from your XDA-2. If you use the balanced outputs of your XDA-2 to the amps you can simultaneously run one or two powered subs from your RCA outputs. I just hooked up a sub to run with my first gen Heresy's and it sounds really good.

I hope the amp is back to working at full capacity Youthman. Other than the road trip I think it ended up prety fair. Like I said earlier, play the hell out of it for the 90 days to make sure nothing else is going on.

I agree, the foam surrounds suck. I have SM 150 and SM 152 tower speakers by Infinity that sound amazing....but have already needed refoaming. After the second time of getting near the refoaming stage I sold the woofers and bought replacement woofers for them that sound just a nice and will never need to be refoamed.

Glad you got it fixed Youthman. Even though the fix seems a bit steep, I would maybe negotiate down the price a bit and let them know that you may work with them again because of it. If it is fixed and warrantied for the 90 days, play the hell out of it to make sure it is indeed fixed and up to snuff. If you have any issues in the 90 days, tell them you want a complete refund and that you have another shop that wants to fix it for you at a discount.

Both amazing speakers. Personally I like the esthetics better with a nice big set of La Scalas, but I find both are great sounding speakers.
