  1. now you well know IF they last that long. if they do make it to next weekend, I would imagine someone will take them at +/- $1600 as a project, don't ya think? we frequent estate sales in this area that are usually 2-3 day sales. by the end of day 2, prices are coming down. I'd wager that sooner or later someone will grab them up even as (choke, gag, cough) "attractive" 🤣 as they sit right now
  2. MD was that much fun?!? wow, I never knew.

    What I Got Today!

oh, idk how old it is. we didn't pay an arm & a leg for it, and it may not be authentic Duncan Phyffe, but is a nice representative of the style. it does have some wear on the top & hinges that may not show in photo. main thing = we like it, and even if it's a lookalike, that's ok with us. ya, we have several occasional tables etc - at least 1 gate-leg, we have 2 Duncan Phyffe style mahogany finish (veneer probably) drum tables, a folding top "game table" that opens up to size of a small card table. it's a fun hobby we enjoy.
  4. many things are better than no coffee. except I guess only bad coffee & a sharp stick in the eye - about the only things I can think of worse than no coffee.

    What I Got Today!

IDK if any of you folk enjoy vintage furniture, accessories & the like. my fiance & I do. "won" an auction on this guy almost 2 wks ago, picked it up last weekend. Duncan Phyffe drop leaf dining room table. not perfect by any means, but we like it.

    What I Got Today!

what I got ... yesterday actually. finally pulled the trigger on a HT amp for the front of the system. built a list, started watching, pulled the trigger on this guy that was delivered yesterday - an Acurus 200x3 to feed the Cornwalls up front, and if we add a center down the road, maybe that too. got this one from over on A gon. hooked it up to test it last night. nice. although I was surprised to learn that apparently running an external amp via tape monitor on my HK receiver seems to bypass the volume control. makes sense - reading the monitor signal path. but volume control would have been a great thing. hoping to get it installed in the HT system maybe as soon as tonight to see how it delivers, primarily on the low freq of the CW.
  7. I have visions of one day "digitizing, or ripping" my vinyl to digital for the very reason you say - more convenient accessibility, as well as the ability to "record" once from LP & put it away pretty much to make it a showpiece, collector item, etc. now, I have a very lo-fi turntable from the big box store, that has a USB out port, that I plan to connect to my laptop & use Audacity, EAC or something to save to flac or whatever, and I'll be done. seems like others 'round here have become "experts" in doing just that.
  8. sure. makes perfect sense. sometimes that's the only way to go. I have numerous things connected by cable at home - AVR, NAS, VOIP phone, DVR/cable box... oh I get it. and I think you're spot on about the speedtest. you WILL get max throughput to the speedtest servers using cable. wifi is so easy but I have yet to see wifi that runs as fast as your cable back to your switch/router. good job with that!
  9. that's easy - reach out to seller & see if you can work something out that's agreeable to you both re pickup, meet up or something. I've sat & "thought" about possible purchases too long & missed out cause I didn't move quickly enough. I've learned that for me - I start the process sooner. I get ready to pull the trigger when something good comes up, and when it does, jump on it. it will not last forever. somebody will get it. good luck to you & to seller.
  10. no pix? 😎 GLWYS
  11. @Tigerman - nice of you to join us for the am festivities. nice score there on that percolator. I like the blue, but I avoid the network cables when I can. (have had enough of that from my last job) @DizRotus - re Keurig. I like the convenience of it. I'm not to the level of coffee connoisseur (yes, I did use the googler to get the spelling) a lot of you guys are. I do like the variety of brands, blends, flavors etc that are available in the neat, EXPENSIVE little packaging. do I have one at home? no. could have, but declined. rather brew for volume. I drink a lot of coffee, I'm sure too much. so we use a drip maker to brew up 10-12 cups at a time. in summary - I like it, but not enough to pony up for the purchase or for the "daily feeding"
  12. ^ exactly. well put, forum geezer. such a sad item we see far too many times in the news. even once is too many times. but this many times, by the both of them - between the acts of abuse, and then by the refusal to acknowledge there might be a problem... ugh. I just don't have words.

    Good Music

just so you know - I am pretty much musically-illiterate, and creatively dysfunctional on top of that. so with that in mind - I guess I'll just live in the past musically when we had composition "teams" - I'm referring to for example Elton John & Bernie Taupin, and others like them, just to choose one "team". where one is talented with the music & another with lyrics, and from collaboration of the two, or more than, we have the creative library that we have. referring not just to them, but all the talents back to <whenever> - Beethoven, Mozart & all the rest who have helped bring us to this that we have today.
  14. ok - my apologies. try this - on your 1st copy/paste attempt, open another item that you can paste into: Word, Notepad, even Excel will work. then minimize that. now - go back to your source you want to copy & copy your content. go to your destination - here? - and paste. paste does not work? immediately, grab the other app - the Word, Notepad, etc - and try pasting there. do you get anything pasted in it? could be your 'copy' is not getting the content until your 2nd attempt.
  15. I would speculate that you have admitted your problem right there. do you have anything resembling a real browser - Chrome, Firefox, anything else? or as a last resort, ya, Internet Exploder might suffice.
  16. @wvu80 I agree re your pre-season comment. unless you follow the computer based rankings - and I don't, so I can't tell you for sure their names, but Sagarin & others like that come to mind. but for D 1 playoff rankings, I don't think computers come into play until the 1st playoff ranking comes out.

    Mr. Ed King RIP

RIP Ed. how many from the core of the band (in the heyday) are left now? 1 - Rossington? any more? very sad to me. grew up on their stuff.
  18. um, yeah I can imagine... I would be picturing the invoice for all that stock, and killing myself to get to the phone to call "my guy"
  19. no kidding! I need a space like this! if only I could get it without the "overhead" involved... 😯 nice looking place you have there sir. if we ever venture outdoors & up your way, MUST work in a visit. I know you're dying for stamps of approval from forum members 😛
  20. not to mention - just the "neighborly thing" to do
  21. most common epitaph in history. just sayin'. in the case above, very unlikely to lead to a fatal experience. but you never know
  22. a pair of mint, Cornwall IIs for $850?!? my thinking - how can you NOT give them a try?!? I don't track them closely, but @wvu80 does. maybe he will chime in. but I gave more than that for my pair, VG shape, with a few updates, but I'm still a happy camper. I've never heard the Chorus but I have heard they are a great speaker. maybe more bass than the CW (do the Chorus have a rear passive? that may be why) if you do the deal on the CW at that price or close to it, and later decide to pass them along, surely you would at least break even on them. good luck. keep us posted. and pix are required (well, not exactly, but we love 'em!)
  23. nice, very nice. is it bad when I get a smile on my face looking at the shrink wrapped skids of products? no, of course not. Cory, thanks for sharing!
  24. thanks. not so much for me, but rather for others, maybe like me, that didn't know where you are.
