  1. Dean, what has happened to the photos and text ?
  2. just bog standard RCA sockets. What is harder is picking the extra amplifiers. Do you want a bunch of big boxes or a couple of those little chip amps - https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/182341-jubilee-owners-what-amplifier-are-you-using-to-bi-amp/
  3. Depends how many drivers in each speaker, a miniDSP 2X4HD has 2 inputs and 4 outputs, so for a KHorn 3 way you need 2 miniDSP2X4HD.
  4. I built an an ALK type Extreme Slope ES4500 a while ago, but these days it would be cheaper to use a miniDSP 2X4HD and go active.
  5. Sootshe, Have a look at these, should help. 3636atz.pdf
  6. sootshe, Dave Harris email - fastlaneaudio - at - aol.com The postage to Oz is expensive.
  7. AK2 schematic attached. The schematics are here - https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/113804-klipsch-crossovers/ Replacements available from Bob Crites - https://critesspeakers.com/prices-other_stuff.html
  8. Interesting post. What is a B&C DCX464 ? A Google quick search found https://audioxpress.com/article/test-bench-b-c-speakers-dcx464-high-power-coaxial-compression-driver-and-horn and a thread - https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/335600-dcx464.html No mention of the DCX464 on the Klipsch forums that I can see. But this coaxial solves the time alignment issue between mid and hi.
  9. Pats3of4, here is a good thread on grill cloth replacement, unfortunately the early photos have been lost but thanks to colterphoto1 there are new photos. Start at https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/98877-how-to-new-grills-grill-cloth-etc/page/7/ S
  10. Well, I might be able to help you with Australian black walnut, or black sally wattle, black jarrah, black gum tree wood of all 101 varieties from the east coast - in fact most trees for a couple of hundred miles from my place are black due to the bush fires last christmas. As far as capacitors go, this article - http://www.reliablecapacitors.com/oldRC/www.reliablecapacitors.com/pickcap.html was one of the first to really get into the nitty gritty and worth a read.
  11. Here is another thread with a photo of the AK-4 and goes on to discuss the AK-5. This photo shows a different board with the big 50uf caps
  12. Yes, there is also a minor discrepancy between Dean's drawing and the schematic in the bass trap.
  13. The AK-4 schematic is in this thread - https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/134691-klipschorn-lf-filter/ Schu, your pictures are missing the LF bass trap - two 6 ohm 25W resistors, four 50uf caps and a 6mH inductor - were they on a daughter board, perhaps in the woofer chamber ?
  14. Well, I believe you will have AK-3 crossovers with no terminal strip and Monster Cable internal wiring. I suggest you either re-cap the AK-3 or build an AA. To tart up the AK-3 : 1. re-cap the AK-3 (the little black 2uf caps on my AK-3 had drifted and had high ESR) with a kit from Bob Crites. 2. check the Monster Cable, mine had gone a klerpy green color and the clear plastic was sticky, replace if you think it is necessary. 2.5mm (14awg) clear cable will do with spade lugs for the speaker ends and fork spade lugs for the terminal block at the other end 3. add a terminal strip to the AK-3 like in Deang's AA build thread or get one from Bob Crites. 4. replace the gasket in the K401 horn. As a plug and play guy it may be worth your while calling Bob Crites and see if he will re-cap your AK-3 and provide new cables. He used to provide that service. You should also check the A55 horns - https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/130970-is-it-the-al-3-or-the-squakers/&ct=1586575269
  15. H-D Rider, I am intrigued as to why you want an AK4 crossover. These days it is more cost effective to go active with an Xilica rather than the cost of the components for a network like the AK4. You don't mention what your current network is or the environment, listening levels and drivers. Have you swapped tweeters or mid horns and drivers ?
  16. Well the clock face is the same, 12 to the top, but sun dial pointers incline south and when I set up my Davis Vantage Vue weather station I had configure the wind at +180 degrees and Alternating Current sine waves always start going south (negative).
  17. Due to the coriolis effect, in the southern hemisphere we always connect them so the current flows in a clockwise direction.
  18. A paper explaining the theory behind the use of an autotransformer and swamping resistor to allow adjustable attenuation of drivers in a crossover network. (by Al Klappenberger) is here - http://www.alkeng.com/dload_xo.html
  19. The few Klipsch networks I have simulated in LT Spice have shown bumpy response - try the AK4 , but the reviews mostly say they sound fine. The reports on the weekend class - https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/186096-kmha-class-by-chief-bone-head-oct-18-19/ explained it well, Klipsch use a lot more than just circuit theory and simulation in their network designs.
  20. If you use the impedance of the woofer in your LT Spice model you will need a Zobel network. http://audiojudgement.com/impedance-equalization-circuit-zobel-network/ is the link I use to calculate the values, it also shows where the Zobel connects. For your twin woofers you could try a Zobel of 3.9 ohm and 33uf . The calculation comes to 4.125 and 3.9 is the closest value resistor you could buy.
  21. Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra The opening music in 2001: A Space Odyssey. It starts with a sustained double low C on the double basses, contrabassoon and organ. Too low for my K-Horns to do much with but a pair of Vifa bass reflex boxes in my Sydney home can rattle the windows. This would be as good as any recordings - https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/7930694--strauss-also-sprach-zarathustra
  22. I agree. I have always ignored the autotransformer in LTspice x-over models Here is the LTspice run plot of my home brew ES networks and the REW measurement of the network at the speaker terminals with the autotransformer in circuit with the mid. I may add a T2A autotransformer and the resistor attenuator to the LTspice model and compare the run prediction but don't hold your breath.
